How can you tell an apple tree is actually an apple tree? ( whistling.........) Answer: By the fruit it produces. Another way of saying the cliche, talk is cheaper, show it.

When the Cowboys drafted Mazi, the sell job was " he is a great athlete". The Cowboys will coach the NFL into him. Well, a meanless preseason game and training camps, the Dallas Cowboys staff is not producing the fruit they were selling....so far. The staff couldn't do it with John Ridgeway after selling him when he was drafted. Dallas cut him and was picked up by the Commanders, who is a starters for them now.
Not giving up on Mazi, nor did he have a bust game, but being a #1 pick, the 1st showing was somewhat yawning.

And your 2nd round pick --right now --- looks like your 3rd string TE.

Want to see why Dallas can't sniff a NFC Conference game in 30 years, the groceries are bought from ALDI store
(Side note: OL was B-A-D and if just one starter goes down, look out )

LOL, not ALDI!!!!

Mazi will be fine, all he has to do is plug the middle and he did that pretty well last night. It is his first game at NFL speed, it takes some adjustments and snaps.

If that is all he does this year, plug up the run game and stop the backs from running up the gut, consider that a BIG PLUS! Since the rams PO game that is all that has been happening.

Let’s revisit this beyond week 10 and see how his progress is…..he still won’t be great but should be taking baby steps and improving.

we’ve been waiting too long for this dude to not be patient

Your second round pick had 3 days of practice and just played in an NFL game. FyI, he was impressive last night. Can we at least give a guy a few months into an NFL career?
His blocking was fine . Better than dalton whiff schultz. I will reserve judgement until more practice and couple more preseason games.

I don't know what he'll be, but I hate his body language. Game 1 and he looked bored to death. Maybe he really doesn't like football, as he stated.

Actually, maybe not. We have heard the same lines when Taco Carlton was drafted. "Give the guy a chance". Until this franchise can get to a NFC Conference game, then the "give them a chance" has been worn out for 3 decades.
Sorry, the fruit has been rotten, on the vine, to long. TOO LONG. This is the Dallas Cowboys not the Detroit Lions when their fans are used to apologizes season after season.

So are you saying rookies shouldn’t get a chance… because we haven’t made the NFCCG in a while? Should every rookie we draft be an immediate impact starter?

If Mazi and Big Hank can play like Siragusa and Sam Adams of the 2000 Ravens squad...

Well then we already have our own version of Ray Lewis to get us over the hump once the playoffs start.

Then it will be Micah Time! Lol

I hope.

slow feet , and absolutely no pass rush ,. he could be useful as a run stopper if he gets better movement, but for a first rounder not to push and rush the passer ? no power to move OLs ? could be a warning sign.

he stuffed double teams all night, its the EXACT thing we drafted him for, again we drafted a 1tech Rob M is no longer here to make sure we have undersized "Pass Rushers" at the DT while the other team stuffs the ball up the middle. Smith will get better at the pass rush but i think we have that roll filled in spades on this team, we needed a big dude to eat OL's and thats what he did.
