I’m just saying that so far he’s been a bust, but the jury is still out. I’m not giving up on him, but if I could redo our pick, I would choose someone else. When the Cowboys were on the clock, I don’t remember anyone on ESPN mentioning Mazi’s name as a possible selection. Most on the panel seemed kind of surprised at the pick. Some had Mazi going in the second round.
I do remember Micah pick being a disappointment. Mainly because no one had an idea of what kind of passrusher he could be, but not very many were singing the Cowboys praises outside of "plugging a hole at LB".

And then the Travis Frederick pick? OMG, the Cowboys were the laughing stock of the NFL according to all the "experts". He was only the best Center in the NFL for virtually his entire career.

And these are many of the same "experts" that laughed at the Texans for drafting Mario Williams instead of Reggie Bush. How did that workout for them?

Look. The Cowboys WILL draft busts. That much is given as EVERY team does. What doesn't matter is what the "Panel of Experts" think when it comes to these picks.

Hell, the only one I semi-respect any more is Mike Mayock. And that's not because he was better than everyone else, but because at least he had the footballs to actually become an NFL GM and see if he could do it "for real". He wasn't exactly successful, but he put his money where his mouth was. No shame in that.

"Player X could have been a 2nd Round pick" could be said for all but the top 15-20 players in any given draft. So getting a "2nd Round Player" in the mid-20's happens EVERY-SINGLE-YEAR.

The only real difference is did you like the player before the draft or not.

Lots of people telling on themselves in this thread. He was on the field and you not noticing him is fully expected for ball watchers. He’s made a couple of really good plays the last two weeks. Micah screen play vs Jets and another one in that disaster Sunday

Parsons a disappointment? Lol He was great from the day he arrived in Dallas. Most had him rated as the best defensive player in the draft. He only fell to number 12 because no one knew he could be a dynamic pass rusher. Travis Frederick was also terrific from day one with the Cowboys. He was viewed as a reach in the first round, but he instantly became a terrific player. If you want to make comparisons to Mazi, look no further than Morris Claiborne, Bobby Carpenter, Taco and Tristan Hill. All were disappointing from the day they arrived in Dallas. They all went bust.

Mazi has one solo tackle in 3 games. Not exactly what I expected as a 1st round pick. I do think he has shown great potential though.
I don't. He may at some point, but so far he's far from what he was supposed to be.

Like any Cowboy, I'll give him time, but he better pick up his play PDQ. First round picks don't get the luxury of "hey, it's okay, if you were that good you'd have been a first round pick".

First round picks are expected to contribute right away, and not just a little bit....

Defensive tackles need time to develop and typically; very few make an impact in their first year.

Many people on this forum warned us that Mazi would not be Chris Jones out of the gate. Yet here we are, scouting via a stat sheet three games into a player's career and writing him off already.

Can’t compare a physical physical freak like Mazi to a defensive end like Taco who ran a 4.9 40. I still love the Mazi pick. And hated the Tacslow pick from day 1. I remember talking to my buddy who played in the NFL for 10 years. And said we drafted Taco and told him what he ran. He laughed and asked if he was going to play defensive tackle

We drafted this stiff to stop the run and he’s not getting it done. This is the main reason he’s not getting many snaps. I’m not sure even Taco or Tristan Hill was as big a disappointment this early on.
Agree.

Doesn’t look good at all.

I didn't know that sacks and passes deflected are not all that much. I'm really learning about football on here...thanks!!!
No problem. You see, it's about the position one plays. Catches matter a lot, right? Then Zach Martin must suck, because he doesn't catch any.

Very limited snap percentage plays a part. He's a rookie as well. Oh, and try picking up statistics when you're literally picking up two O linemen.

He’s getting like 10 snaps a game now.

They don’t trust him.

That pick should have been OL or RB.

We could have found a scrub 1T in the later rounds.
