Off the field stuff as well as some rumors of locker room issues (getting in fights, etc.)

For example, he skipped a drug test in college because he knew he was going to fail and when Florida suspended him for skipping, he took to twitter to rip the UF athletic department for suspending him. People also question his desire and wonder if he's lazy. He had a terrible combine and then at his pro-day, he did worse which made people wonder if he cares. All he had to do was train hard for his pro-day, improve his numbers and he might have locked up a 1st round spot.

He's a total knucklehead. But in the third or 4th round, he might be worth a flier because he's likely a late 1st, 2nd round talent type guy.

He'd be completely off of my board.

Thanks for the feedback, Syd. :) :flagwave:

I'm definitely not saying not to pass on BPA for need, but in this draft, I'm sure (as much as one could be, behind a screen -- har har :)) that there will be similar graded offensive and defensive picks available in the third. This is a deep defensive draft (particularly DBs). And if so, it's a no-brainer. You go D. Our daggon achilles heal.

If the best pick available is undeniably an offensive player (TE, WR, OL etc) then go for it, but I damn well hope the pick is right in lieu of not going D.

Hanna is oft injured, Swaim was injured last season. Doesn't mean it's gonna be a trend (especially for Swaim).

I completely disagree about Witten. All he does is stretch and attack the seam. That's what he does. With occasional outs and comebacks. But he eats on that seam. He blocks, too, despite what is said by some around here.

Don't want to see a pick in the top 100 on an O prospect, especially after this consvertative apporach to the FA. D D D

Right there with ya Trouty! Just say 'No!'

Honestly, I don't think we have to worry about it. I think the only way we see a TE drafted would be if Jake Butt was still available in round 4.

Love the 28 and 60 pick but want defense (safety) at 92.

Didn't we try the "more of a pass-catcher than blocker" routine with Escobar?
Exactly! It's more of the same. Don't want that TE anywhere near our third pick.

Now that would be a fantastic add! He won't be there when we get to the clock in the fourth, tho, Stash.

Probably not, but you never know with a player coming off of injury. If he's not, he's not. I think this draft presents a lot of options at TE.

What a hell of a pick in the fourth. We'd be stacked at TE, brudda :)

Barnett at 1, Moreau at 2.................. maybe one of those LSU WRs in the 3rd, a DT like Jarron Jones in the 4th............ I'd do cartwheels.
Will you post a vid of doing said cartwheels? :)

That sounds an awful like the last guy we wasted a premium pick to draft, Escobar. A guy we had absolutely no interest in keeping. None.

I have no desire to go down that road to nowhere and I hope the team doesn't either.

Dak uses the TE's a lot and slot WR's.

Dez gets no help from anything but our run game. Witten does nothing to draw attention away.

Zeke makes a living on bouncing runs to the outside.

This is more about helping Dak, Zeke, and Dez more then anything.

Escobar just wasn't that good of a player and Bennett and Fasano played with a younger Jason Witten that the coaches couldn't get off the field.

Wittens blocking has diminished and he stretches the field none. We need some youth at that position with real talent because of who we have at QB and how we use the zone run scheme.

I'd consider Howard at 28 because he appears to be that special.

But after that, I'd probably wait until the later rounds for a TE unless maybe a guy like Butt is there in the 4th, I would strongly consider him. Doubt he lasts that long.

Yeah, and that's why I would be willing to do it there. You'd be getting good talent there, with the ability to bring an injured player back slowly because you don't have to play him immediately. Let him learn from an all-time great and future Hall of Famer.

Prepare to be disappointed.

Hypothetically, Syd, if we were picking in the early-mid teens, would you consider Howard, still? Or are you saying @28 because of the value he represents at that spot (which, admittedly, would be tremendous value, but obviously isn't gonna happen).

Ok? Good point.
It's just this simple, 17 -- our defense is woeful. ******* woeful. It needs to be the focus of the draft. A TE in the third vs a similarly graded (non-3T) D prospect shouldn't receive much consideration.

And it won't. He just wants to refuse to believe it.

How much effort was made to keep a "WR/TE" in Escobar that they used a 2nd round pick on? Answer? None.

And how many free agent TE's have they looked at to fill this "huge need"? Answer? None.

So how much effort have they put in to fill this "huge need"? None.
