It wasn't Mariott's place to prove anything. It was Irvin's team who brought the suit. The burden of proof was with them.
From what we saw in the video nothing could be proven by anyone. Irvin didn’t touch the woman in an inappropriate manner, and we couldn’t hear their conversation. The accusation she made got him suspended from NFL Network and could have gotten him fired. It could have cost him his career. Marriott has to take responsibility because they didn’t turn over the video immediately and the woman who made the accusation works for them.

Probably doesn't help Marriott or NFL Network's case when Fox Sports, University of Colorado and everyone else has seen enough to know they can move on and feature him.

HR.... necessary evil in the workplace, but sometimes just gets carried away.

There are going to be some disappointed people cause they just knew he was guilty and they were making all kinda stuff up. Hopefully they keep that same energy now.
oh yea.... just go back and look at that thread on this topic... I wont call him out, but we have one person that hates Irvin that went on and on and on about what the video said, what the security said, and how he must have done something wrong or none of this would have happened.

I personally enjoy the heck out of him s he is very different than the stale stuff we get from most of the guys on TV.

This is why podcasts are becoming so popular, the people speaking arent limited by network executives and censors. There is a reason why Joe Rogan and Pat McCafee have exploded in popularity. Pat's show is so refreshing. It is juts like a bunch of guys hanging out at the bar talking sports. You just dont get that on the networks.

This me too garbage can ruin people. I am glad he is back and I hope he got millions.

This is a poor choice of words. Obviously you’ve never had someone close to you who was assaulted (mom was raped and had a child from her rapist). I’ve also had to testify on a stand for someone who was falsely accused. The amount of times someone is falsely accused is nowhere near the amount of truthful cases.

Unfortunately, if Im Irvin, I may never stop to talk to fans again. He has always stopped for pictures and engaged with fans, but it is not in his best interest to do so any longer.

But the fact that two major networks stood by him through the accusations says something about how they felt and what their investigation about the incident uncovered.

In this day and age with public pressure and how the behaviors she was accusing is so frowned upon says quite a bit.
Guilt or not guilt is determined by a court of law.

His employer suspended him; they were in wait and see it as opposed to standing by him. I don't have enough information to form an opinion and am alright with innocent until proven guilty. Looks like they took the same route.

I remember the threads and there were several people that were clearly anti-Irvin.

He just has to make sure there’s cameras and people around. I’m sure this incident has made him very reluctant to engage with fans. It certainly would make me reluctant.

Disagree. False accusations happens much more than people believe until it happens to you. My father was falsely accused. So was my uncle and two cousins. All males falsely accused by vindictive lying women.

At the same time, just 5 years ago, my oldest daughter got her drink drugged, then raped at an off-campus college party, by an illegal POS "dreamer" who immediately fled across the border and has yet to be found. Does that mean all illegals are guilty of such things? No, not at all, but I feel anger from both sides of how it has affected my immediate family.

It's so important to get back to honoring "innocent until proven guilty" within our judicial system because we now see how destructive "guilty until proven innocent" can be against those truly innocent and their families. I don't wish anyone to be falsely accused of such heinous crimes only to be charged as guilty without evidence of proof. Horrible way to conduct justice in this country.

Well, you said they’d already decided while I said I hadn’t heard that. I also said that you had already decided. Which is true and still sounds to be.

Past hookers and cocaine parties was your reasoning, (I guess) however he’d never been accused of harassing a woman and that was the accusation here. Eyewitnesses said they didn’t see evidence of what she accused.

Maybe you rushed to judge.
My judgements were based on her testimony which was simply inappropriate words which weren’t illegal harassing, etc.

While true a defemation of character suit can certainly swing the burden of proof right back to the defendant once its proved the accusation was made and acted on.
Defamation of character is defined as a false statement of fact that causes the victim some type of harm.
once there was proof they called his employer and accused him and the employer did soemthing they needed to prove the statment of fact was true or they would lose that case.

Everyone loves to talk about the crazy men, but no one wants to talk about the crazy women. Trust me, I've been with some. I can't really carry on this conversation without being censored by the mods.

My mom was raped by a marine from Pendleton when she was 13. Does not matter who they are people who commit those acts will commit them regardless of who or where they come from.

People don’t come forward because they’re not “believed”. Assault happens way more often than being falsely accused.

Yes, I was agreeing with NFLN decision . And once I saw the words he used , it was inappropriate words but I stopped short of any illegal behavior.

And even said if this wasn’t Irvin and his previous history probably would t have made news.

Right… and when you have a suspect who has history like Irvin it brings cause for pause like NFLN did. Which I agreed with and still do.

Sorry about your mom. I feel your pain because I've been there. But I disagree. Both happen all the time.
