Sorry about your mom. I feel your pain because I've been there. But I disagree. Both happen all the time.

I have a half sister who has cerebral palsy. I found out she was my sister when I was 13. I am her guardian now and my mom and her have a good relationship. It’s not all bad, as a family we made the best of it. I am an advocate for victims which is why my testimony from the night my friend was falsely accused was so impactful to the jury. If he was guilty I would’ve never been there.

It's so important to get back to honoring "innocent until proven guilty" within our judicial system because we now see how destructive "guilty until proven innocent" can be against those truly innocent and their families. I don't wish anyone to be falsely accused of such heinous crimes only to be charged as guilty without evidence of proof. Horrible way to conduct justice in this country.
While I completely agree with this, in reality we need to get back to not passing judgement on either party until all the facts come out. There are just as many to rush to judgement on both sides before any facts come out. Lets not act like this is a one sided thing. I am happy that Michael is back where he is, you can check my posting history as I took no sides in any statement because both deserve the right to have their side heard in the proper forum first.

In this case, yes it appears he was wrongly accussed (I say appeared because a settlement does not imply innocent or guilt, and honeslty we have no idea what truly happened between them), but many times that is not the case. The legal process (and rush to judgement) can be equally destrutive to the truthful victims as well.

And I, like you, have had friends/family on both sides of this issue (sexualy assualted and wrongly accused).

Right… and when you have a suspect who has history like Irvin it brings cause for pause like NFLN did. Which I agreed with and still do.

Irvin has history, but I do believe that everyone has the right to prove their innocents obviously, and it appears he might have. May not like his behavior though.

Of course . And I don’t like his behavior. Loved him on the field. Not so much off the field.

I guess it depends what you thought he was guilty of to begin with.

I haven’t heard if she has recanted her testimony which the ethnic sexual references she accused him of were inappropriate while not illegal.

How’s your daughter doing with it all?
It affected her badly. She didn't go to college for months due to shock. She lost her scholarship and now has to bust working for hourly pay while struggling to make ends meet. Her mom and I do the best we can to keep her thinking positive and to find a way to get back to college even if it's part time. Thanks for asking bro.

Haven’t heard anything about it at all which is just strange. I agree not a fan of Mikes behavior off the field. It just can’t see them settling if he was as guilty as they made him out to be. So I’m curious if more came to light and they decided to settle and do NDA to further prevent harm to their brand, and employee? Just guessing here.

He just has to make sure there’s cameras and people around. I’m sure this incident has made him very reluctant to engage with fans. It certainly would make me reluctant.
there were cameras and people around in this hotel... didnt keep him from basically getting suspended for 8 months and going through personal hell. I had a similar incident happen to me 6 years ago... nothing to do with a woman, but some clown that drove his car into me and had a road rage incident where I had to pull a gun. I did NOTHING wrong, but it didnt keep me from being put through hell for about 4 months.

Didn't think he had a case against Marriott. If anyone owns a business and thinks someone is harassing their employee they have the right to eject them and ask they not come back. But a case against the NFL Network might have been a different thing and with Marriott as an official sponsor of the NFL, it might not be far fetched that the NFL did a pass-through settlement to end things and Marriott is also happy because they don't have to devote resources to a lawsuit about a dinky drunk encounter. Glad it didn't cost Mike his job but man he needs to be more careful and guard that dream job with all he has.
Ah, looked who showed up.

The poster who was adamant the video showed Irvin was guilty.

The poster who said all of Irvin's witnesses weren't reliable.

Now Marriott settles a defamation suit and "the playmaker" is back to work at NFLN.

Imagine.

I’m really sorry to read this. The trauma and PTSD she’s experiencing must be devastating. Sounds dumb, but maybe suggest an online course let her find some peace and comfort while studying online. I really hope she’s talking to someone and working through it. My thoughts are with you and your family AC. I really hated reading that.

My mom was raped by a marine from Pendleton when she was 13. Does not matter who they are people who commit those acts will commit them regardless of who or where they come from.

People don’t come forward because they’re not “believed”. Assault happens way more often than being falsely accused.
it is such a hard thing to prove without a witness or physical bruises and what not. Most sexual assaults are a he said/she said type of deal. It just stinks.

When I watched the video I knew it was a set up. She wanted to set him up for money. Once the hotel saw all this they knew they were in the wrong. No telling what she said or offered him. So does Mike get the 100 million.

Mason greenwood (man united player in premiere league) case is a prime example of how hard it is, especially when the victim reverses course about the charges/testifying etc.

There is graphic audio of him abusing his girlfriend, demanding sex despite her stating numerous times she wasn't interested, and threats of violence.

Numerous pictures also of the victim with bruises, bloody face, etc.

He is still a professional soccer player, just moved to different league on loan.

Mike wanted one thing and one thing only... he wanted his career back. Once their was some kind of settlement, it was over. Mike wont discuss because he doesnt want to hurt his career. The hotel wont comment because they just want it to go away. Strange that we just heard about some settlement and hours later Mike is on the air.

It was FOX that said screw this and hired Mike with no public backlash that allowed the NFL Network to bring Mike back.

The cameras and people that were around kept him from getting fired and caused Marriott to have to work out a settlement with him for millions. Irvin came away from this a lot richer.
