What's The Scoop:
Cowboys second-year cornerback Mike Jenkins was carted off the field Saturday morning after suffering an apparent right ankle injury during team drills.
The team is awaiting MRI results on Jenkins' injury,
which doesn't appear to be a high ankle sprain at this point.
Jenkins, a first-round pick in 2008, has been competing with fellow sophomore corner Orlando Scandrick for the starting right cornerback spot opposite Terence Newman, although Jenkins had taken the majority of the first-team snaps.
"He's having a great camp and we want him to continue to have it," Jones said. "I'm hoping for the best, but we're worried about it."
The injury occurred on a play when Jenkins' foot was stepped on, causing him to roll his ankle. He was immediately attended to by trainers.
And with Newman taking a veteran's rest day during the first practice of three consecutive two-a-days, the Cowboys could potentially have a depth problem at cornerback. Scandrick and third-year defensive back Courtney Brown, who switched from safety in the off-season, finished the practice with the first team.
Secondary coach Dave Campo said he has confidence in the team's backup corners.
"We feel like our backup corners are pretty good, so we'll just line up and go," Campo said.
Quick Shots:
The Cowboys worked in shorts and shells, although the team should be back in pads for the afternoon practice.
Running back Tashard Choice practiced fully with the team after missing the past two days with a shoulder sprain, and was able to take handoffs and catch passes. He said Friday that if he practiced in the morning, he'd practice in the afternoon too.
The Cowboys worked on punt returns during the special teams portion of practice, and returning punts were wide receiver Patrick Crayton, Newman and wide receiver Willie Reed. Running back Felix Jones, who practiced catching punts during OTAs, did not field any on Saturday morning.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones attended the morning practice, but has plans to attend Bob Hayes' Hall of Fame induction later today in Canton, Ohio.
You Should've Seen:
Tight end Martellus Bennett. Bennett showed why he'll be such a valuable asset in the red zone, even though this play took place in the open field. The second-year Texas A&M product ran a seam route, and was double-covered by Scandrick and starting strong safety Gerald Sensabaugh. Romo heaved a pass up to him anyway in tight coverage, and Bennett reached high in the air and grabbed the football with one hand, eventually running for the touchdown.
Who's Hot:
Rookie wide receiver Kevin Ogletree. With third-year wideout Isaiah Stanback missing time and Mike Jefferson dropping a lot of passes, Ogletree seems the most likely to take the fifth receiver spot. Saturday morning he made a toe-tapping catch on the sideline after going up to get a ball that narrowly floated over cornerback Courtney Brown's outstretched arms.
Who's Not:
Cornerback Courtney Brown. With Newman resting and Jenkins being carted off the field, Brown got a lot more first team reps, and may have been exposed. He was beat deep several times, most notably by Miles Austin for a touchdown. "4th and Long" winner Jesse Holley also ripped a ball away from him on a comeback route.

"Well, we had one guy that was here who wasn't real humble, and he's not here anymore, so maybe it makes everybody else look humble." - An enigmatic reference to an unnamed former Cowboy when asked if the team is more humble this year.
