Mike Jenkins leaving the field on a cart *ankle injury, severity not known*

Buehler should pee on him too.

LOL. Epic.

As for Jenkins, at least it happened now a month before the season so he has little time to recoup. Hopefully its not too severe and it wont nag at him throughout the season.

high ankle sucks - but it is infinitely better than achilles or knee.

from Wade's PC- Newman has a groin strain and out for precautionary reasons

Jenkins is DAY TO DAY and ankle sprain isn't considered serious! Great news!

Great news on Jenkins, but when is Newman not injured?

Wade just said that Newman's had injuries with his groin in the past and they are just being precautionary

He's played in 87 out of a possible 96 games. I thought Wade said it was just precautionary with Newman from the past groin issues, that he didn't do anything to it?

anyone else get nervous when dr Wade starts giving out medical updates?

He did suffer a groin pull according to wade

There's no point fighting an emotional reaction with logic. If the goal is to paint a move made for precautionary reasons during TC as an indication that a player won't play in the games that start 5 weeks from now, there's no stopping them.

Man seeing this here and DMN has bummed me out today! I hope it really isn't too much of a setback.
I'm sure Wade means well but in the past his analysis of injuries has been pretty poor. :(

Anyone still want to argue about Newman not being fragile? At 31 its only a matter of short time till he loses a step. This guy cant be counted on.

Great news.

And I know Mike Jenkins will be chomping the bit to get back on the field as quickly as possible to continue fighting for the job to start at right cornerback.

But the training staff needs to make sure Jenx is ready before allowing him to return.

I could care less which corner starts, I just want both available whenever we go nickel.

How about this argument: he's being held out of a TC practice for precautionary reasons.

They are probably just giving him the day off.

Newman is injury prone. Not his fault. It is what it is.

Newman has nothing to prove or to really learn anymore. So holding him out is a good idea. Though to be brutally honest if they are so worried about him then why is he still on the punt return team? I would think that is just as big a hazard to your health as anything else.

Both Starting Corners Suffer Injury Setbacks

While nothing appears to be too serious, the Cowboys did have a setback at the cornerback position on Saturday, with not one, but both starters suffering injuries.

Left cornerback Terence Newman was limited in practice with a slight groin strain. MRI results were negative and showed no tears, but the Cowboys decided to hold him out for precautionary reasons and will monitor him. Wade Phillips said just now in his press conference the injury is completely unrelated to last year’s groin injury that led to a abdominal strain and surgery.

During the morning practice, the biggest scare of camp so far occurred when right cornerback Mike Jenkins had to be carted off the field with an ankle injury. An MRI showed just a sprain on the lower part of his right ankle. Initially, the Cowboys feared the treacherous high-ankle sprain, but that’s not the case.

Phillips described Jenkins’ injury as “day-to-day.” The second-year cornerback dropped to the ground after making a cut during the no-pads practice. Orlando Scandrick and Alan Ball finished practice with the first-team defense.

As for Newman, he’s been snake-bitten by injuries each of the last two training camps. In 2007, he suffered a foot injury that caused him to miss all of the preseason games and the first two regular-season games, too.

Last year, Newman had the groin injury that caused him to miss the preseason and the first regular-season games. He played three games before needing surgery that kept him out five games.

thEy are calling it a "slight groin strain". Sounds like 6 weeks to me
