Same here. And that's why, for me, the talk of a possible reunion with Demarcus Ware looks more appealing all the time. He doesn't strike me as a guy who would coast, and at this stage, he'd be much more affordable as a specialist and himself contract would be much shorter if things didn't work out.

Its a move that makes a ton of sense for both sides. Despite injury concerns I think Ware has the best chance to produce vs cost benefit. Pierre-Paul is going to cost too much and hes often banged up too. Smart money says there is a very low probability he comes close to living up to his contract.

Wanted Ingram bad coming out, but not so much now. This isn't a dynamic consistent player. For 8 million I'm all over it, but for 15 plus? Fogedaboutit!

If the approach the giants took to free agency in addressing their needs on defense was so "worth it" then why did they not win anymore playoff games than the Cowboys that barely even looked at the free agency market. When you invest the monetary resources they did, it better net immediate results... it didn't. I like the approach Stephen Jones is promoting.
It didnt get them any playoff wins but it sure did impact their team.. They havent been to the playoffs since 2011 and i'd like to think that their offseason moves on defense was a big part of that. They ran into a hot A-rod just like we did.. their defense didnt play well during that game but they have been all year. Their defense is actually one of the best in the league now opposed to being one of the worst like in previous years. One of their problems is that once their defense got fixed.. all of a sudden their offense didnt play as well as they have been playing for the past couple of years. Who knows.. maybe their defense will get them playoff wins in the future.

Don't know the contract sitrep for Ware or Freeney but I'd try to get both here and limit their snaps to make it thru the season with big legs at the end. I'd make a play for Ingram but I think he'll get a big guaranteed contract. Personally I'd pay it but I suspect we won't go too large. If you get Ingram I'd only go for one pass specialist like Ware.

I never encountered so many so called Cowboys fans defend the Giants like I have this off season. The times are changing. The Cowboy's D better improve faster than the Giant's O or they will have a hard time winning another divisional title for a while.

If
The salary cap is a complete fallacy. Any needed room could be created. They could sign 10 Ingrams if they really wanted to.
it was a complete fallacy ware would still be here and romo would be going nowhere and leary

theres no team i hate more than the giants.. and it will always be that way.. you can say im defending them if you want thats fine if thats how you see it.. but im definitely keeping it real with myself..

usually teams that do what the giants did on defense doesnt work.. but in their first year they were able to drastically change their defense and it became a strength of their team and not a weakness.

Being a cowboys fan and giants being a rival shouldnt mean i have to not speak the truth just because they are a team I hate.. I choose logic..

  • CB Janoris Jenkins (Signed by Giants; 5-years, $62.5 million)
  • DT Damon Harrison (Signed by Giants; 5-years, $46.25 million)
  • DE Olivier Vernon (Signed by Giants; 5-Years, $85 million)
  • LB Keenan Robinson (Signed by Giants; 1-Year, $3.5 million)
  • LB Kelvin Sheppard (Signed by Giants; 1-Year, $840,000)
  • DT Jermelle Cudjo (Signed by Giants 1-Year, $760,000 salary)
  • CB Leon Hall (Signed by Giants; 1-Year; $2 million)
That is serious money that won no playoff games... bad return on investment.
Look at all the $$ the Cowboys paid out, and they didn't win a playoff game either.

Not sure how a guy that has been playing in a 3-4 for the past 5 years"fits the scheme perfect." I'm not saying Ingram couldn't play in our system, its just a weird thing to put out there with no evidence.

Hopefully Jerry's "war daddy" talk puts us in the market for Ingram or someone similar, but I have serious doubts. Shelling out $15+M for 1 free agent doesn't seem in the current FO's m.o. anymore. I suspect we'll see Ware back or some other washed up vet that signs fairly cheap. Maybe Charles Johnson.
Then we'll end up *****ing for another year about these QBs running roughshod on the defense. Pass rusher and LT are about equal, right behind QBs for most valuable positions. The other positions really aren't close as CB is probably a fairly distant 4th. It's also a position that transfers to other systems extremely well and probably better than any other position. If they choose not to pay to bring in Ingram or even JPP, this teams method is flawed.

thats what i have been saying
Ingram is a no brainer. sign him, draft a pass rush DE later and be done with it for awhile
IMO if they get a guy like ingram they could scratch DE off the draft. Theyd have Ingram, Lawrence, Irving, Mayowa,Tapper and later in the yr Gregory. only so many snaps to around. They could focus on BPA rather then a specific need. Ingram is barely 26 too, He'd be in Dallas atleast 4-5 yrs.

I really hope they dont. This is one of the years Dallas has to take the draft serious if they want a SB ring. The poking and hoping method isnt working. You need someone to get to the qb, or take double coverage so one of our other people on the team can do it. Someone has to get there.

What is with this "overpay" thing? So we assume someone else overpays when the reality is we simply can't compete?

There is very little "right price" when you are talking about free agents in their prime. If they are bargains, there is a reason. Too old, injured, etc.

Agreed. There are very few "prove it" contracts to be thrown around. And even less for a player under 28 yrs old.

Ingram has been doing that, he has 18.5 sacks the last 2 yrs.

Was that don't a typo, or are you insinuating signing Ingram will somehow stop the Cowboys from taking the draft seriously?
