This is why Lombardi is no longer in a front office... Ingram does not fit what Dallas does up front. I'd rather them go after Chandler Jones if that's the case.

I have to agree with this. I'm tired of the "bargain" approach we have tried over the years with older players, recovering injured players, high draft pick busts of other teams, personal redemption projects, etc. It's time the Cowboys either go all in or simply stop trying when it comes to defensive linemen free agents.
It sounds real good to say the build through the draft cliche. Its not practical. To only build through the draft will constantly leave holes in your roster due to simple numbers. 3 starters in a draft is above average, but usually you're just plugging one hole while opening another due to departures. Constantly playing in the high end of FAs is the wrong way to do it, but this approach they have is just as wrong.

It has been posted several times here how the Cardinals are franchising Jones.

Spotrac estimates JPP will get around $14MM and Ingram will get around $17MM.

Yeah, I don't think we are signing either.

Whats the estimate for Nick Perry? I think he's a better fit for 4-3 RDE in Marinelli's system.

The NYG went from 30th to 2nd on points D and 32nd to 10th on yards.....that is immediate improvement
I didn't realize the SB trophy went to the team with the best rankings, thanks for the correction.

When you invest the kind of money the Giants did on D, the only "immediate results" that matter are playoff wins.

I concede that point, but, like Perry, his first several years in the league were disappointing. And he turned it around at or near his contract season.

And maybe there's a good amount of my skepticism that's simply a gut feeling and not trusting any of these guys not to coast once they get that big payday.

His first few years probably were disappointing because he was still learning how to be a DE and was a rookie. His last two years have been solid.

the cowboys are not stupid, and we were not 13-3 for nothing.
think about this, in the last 3 years, we have records of 13-3 and 12-4 when the QB was healthy for the season.
that is inspite of the D.

FO thinks Jaylon is healthy, and they darn well know they need the war daddy for the DL.
jerry jones said so himself.
you know they can taste probably better than we can.

it is not just the war daddy for the DL, do you sign Mo or sign a more reliable CB?
do you left Free be the turnstile or try to get someone better - his $5M cap hit in 2017 can easily bring in a better RT in a 5 year contract.
do you resign TWill or get a WR2 that catches with his hands for 2M more per year.

Let me see what i can answer, because this is a good post.

I dont know about Jaylon, its easier to be optimistic, but reality has or might have other plans. Lets be honest there.
I dont think they can. honestly, i dont think the SB has been that important regardless of what we want to believe.
I would not sign MO, but thats me, i also dont care or get offended if people say otherwise. Either way, lets back the Cowboys.
I remove Free, him and Dunbar should be told to walk now.
I would resign T will because i believe replacing him is harder even tho im not his biggest fan, lets not dismiss facts.

If your goal when spending the kind of money the Giants did on D is better rankings then you have a point. I on the other hand believe they didn't spend that money to only win as many playoff games as the Browns.

The money they spent was ridicules to get no playoff wins. You being okay with no playoff wins after that investment on D is asinine.

How is the "money they spent" ridiculous? The operate under the cap just like everyone else. It's not like they spent double what the Cowboys did.

They just chose to allocate money to different areas than other teams do.

Actually, I see them getting Ware as a "mentor" to players like Mayowa and then thinking all good and not prioritizing the position in the draft. Just think, we can have Ware mentor until Randy Gregory comes back for the big playoff push. Yeah, that is the ticket.

Well, if that's the thinking, it's obviously a mistake. I think no matter who they signed in free agency, they'd still need to draft at least one defensive end, possibly two, and use premium draft picks to do it.
