Who's idea was it to hire Nolan? Jerry's or McCarthy's? This offense has already hit its ceiling with Dak, so the difference in this new coaching staff will need to be made up on the defense,,,, Nolan doesn't inspire.

Why has the offense hit it's ceiling with Dak? Dak can still improve, plus Dak isn't the only player that influences the offense, and clearly coaches can influence the offense as well.

Has this been officially announced yet or still just speculation?

I know we're sick of not getting turnovers. You'll probably get more turnovers next year.

I guess I was hoping for more than "at least he's not complete ****." I was hoping for good. Silly me.
Listened to broaddus on all about the boys podcast. He had really good things to say about him. I mean 10 out of 20 years he was a coach his defenses finished top 10 in takeaways. It ain't just about yards.

What's your guys' opinion on this hire. I don't know much about him so I need you guys to educate me on if this is good or bad. Thanks in advance

If you're seeking information, you don't know how this works.

1) First thing you do is declare that something "SUCKS" or that it is going to lead to a Super Bowl.

2) Keep reading the thread to see if your initial opinion was correct or not.

3) If you were right, post again to argue for your original opinion .

4) If you were wrong , also post again to argue for your original opinion, but do it in caps, and call anyone who disagrees an idiot .

So did Rob Ryan.

OK... So does Bill Belichick. What's your point? Maybe take your negativity to the closet where it's dark and you can cry about the sun being too bright. Let the adults talk about football.

Nolan was LB coach with Saints, credit for run D goes to DC and DL coach.

You're right. Those linebackers certainly had no impact. People haven't remarked all friggin season about how tenacious and active the Saints mostly no-name linebacking core have been.

But you've got your forum form down to a tee. Complain and whine and be negative about anything you can attach to a guy. Then refuse to give credit anywhere there can be plausible deniability. A+ form there, sport.

I don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but I heard Nolan sucks, as a DC.

I honestly think the biggest thing is a change in scheme. I suspect that while our defense clearly improved, Richard could have very well been held back to a degree.

Sounds like BBDB defense.

We had 7 years of that already.

Agree.

#LegionOfBoom wasn't a BBDB defense.

Don’t know anything about him but I’m glad we’re making changes

Pro Football Ref has tons of info about Nolan.

Bottom Line:

Terrible DC whose defenses were near bottom last in Yards and Points.

Hasn't been a DC since 2014 and the terrible defense in ATL.

We'll see,,, I'd like to think the WCO will help Dak but the image of him constantly throwing behind the backs and receivers keeps running through my head. If he can't hit these guys in stride then the WCO will lose some of its bite. I do like the idea of him getting rid of the ball quicker.

Either way, I don't see Dak carrying this team at all. The defense needs to factor in bigly and/or another QB may be in order.

I can't argue that he didn't throw behind receivers a bit too often, but I have to believe that's a timing thing he can work on. I agree on getting rid of the ball quicker. I think that can be e big benefit to him. Earlier this past season it seemed he was doing that - being more decisive, trusting reads, and letting it go. Like Kitna preached about trusting reads and "letting it rip". Seemed later in the season he lapsed more into that sit in the pocket and wait for someone to get completely clear mode that had been an issue in 2018.

Decision was all Mac's.

Mac was Nolan's OC in SF for 1 year while Nolan was the HC.

Mac values familiarity and loyalty above all else and that is why he surrounded himself with a bunch of unqualified cronies in GB for so many years.

Check out Mac's coaching tree after 13 years in GB.

Where are all of Mac's former offensive and defensive coordinators and his long-time Assistant Head Coach coaching now?
