No he isn’t. He was here under Campo and was under contract so Jerry talked Parcells into keeping him. Parcells had just gone through a divorce and needed retirement money.

Zimmer ran a 43 while Parcells was a 34 innovator. By the time Parcells was allowed to do it his way and it was built, Jerry got his stayjum and wanted the spotlight back. Enter puppet Wade, AFTER Jason Garret was already hired as OC.

The team was a pure mess within three seasons of Jerry meddle. Not the first time he tore things down with his genius.
Zimmer was a holdover from the 1990's and on the Super Bowl XXX Championship team, Parcells came in 2003 and they were #1 rank defense, for some reason Parcells went to a 3-4 and it took years to transition to that even after he quit.
I have no idea why he made the change if he had no intention of staying past four years.

I think it all finally took its toll and he needed a break. With everything he’s lost on the personal side and how his guys rallied around him I think it just took its toll. But he’s rested and probably looking to make his way back, and what better place than back in Dallas? Actually I really like this idea.
Zimmer had a decent run in Minnesota but the Cousins signing hurt their cap room then they failed to advance past the 2nd round in the playoffs. 2020 was a messed up year because of Covid but they were struggling in 2021 as well. He had his 8 years there and ownership wanted to make a change. Both his and Rivera's background show that they are much better just as DC than being the HC.

In Zimmer's case he might take the DC job knowing he could be first in line to replace McCarthy if things go bad in the playoffs again.
Dont think so, he just wants to get back into coaching. if McCarthy is out then a whole new staff is coming in.

I’m behind this. He’s a damn good defensive coach. Focuses on stopping the run first
Yes, but he gave too much cushion on the 3rd and long passes, not enough blitzing, I used to get frustrated just watching them give up easy first downs.

I also think Mike evolved his defensive style and scheme. I do think the time he spent with BP was a good and he took a lot from it. He’s not the same guy who coached under campo and I think he’d be a great hire given the circumstances. I agree with you.

Zimmer would be the last one I would want. We’ve been there and done it. I remember how everyone could wait to get rid of him as the DC 18 years ago. What an uninspiring hire that would be. We need someone younger.

I would not mind this. Zimmer has always been a solid defensive coach. What happened in Minnesota near the end of his HC run there worries me but maybe having him concentrate on just the defensive side would help him.
HC ... not defensive coordinator

Ditto with Quinn, .. DC .. not HC of Dallas Cowboys

Is Wade still alive?
Will be 77 in June.

Dick LeBeau was still stalking the sidelines as a DC until 79... soooo... who knows.

We need someone younger.
For me, age might be the last thing I give a damn about.

Both his and Rivera's background show that they are much better just as DC than being the HC.
I'm not even sure that's true... both ended up with really bad player personnel decisions that rocked their rosters. But yes, in both instances, there seemed a mutual interest in ending the relationship.

To your main point and truth be told, it's hard to argue with their results as DCs compared to others on the market, though Martindale is pretty strong, too, all things considered in his previous job.

Here a good breakdown of his scheme but what's not being said Mike shoots from hips. He was never afraid to call players out regardless of contract. Hell even coaches.....ask Norv Turner....he fired him as his OC mid-season. Something you can count on, he will fix the defensive run game issues.

They had the #1 defense in 2003, then the team fell apart in 2004 and they moved to 3-4 for two years. I'm not sure why Parcells changed the defense if he was thinking of retiring.

Well, not the most inspiring of choices.

I would much rather have Vrabel, but I highly doubt Jerry would consider him.

Vrabel aint exactly a yes man, word is that he had a power struggle going on with the GM in Tennessee over player personnel and that lead to his firing.

I'm not sure how picky we can be given the circumstances. Who wants to go to work for a company that might be going out of business like McCarthy? There's more of a chance of a total coaching house cleaning than not after 2024.
Are you kidding? Jerry always hangs on to his coaches. Just fires head coach.
