...I have talked with everyone from late Dottie Rambo (a legend in Gospel music) ...

Just a little sidenote, I never really liked to listen to Dottie sing, but that gal wrote some of the best gospel songs that have ever been written. She gets a house in the high rent district of Heaven with some of her songs. What a writer.....

I think it's safe to say music genres borrow many things from each other. I'm sure Elvis has indirectly contributed to rap and hip hop, even if it is by 'whitening' black sounds and styles and making them accessible to wider audiences and making them marketable in the process. But the main influences of rap and hip hop are more rooted in scant styles, talking blues, jamican dub music and the griots of west africa.

apparently rap also has it's roots in disco music

I'm not reading deficient, you are assuming Elvis didn't have a black following, while a person that was in the music biz, and saw it, says that is indeed the case

Sigh. Maikeru-sama and mldardy understood me perfectly, which means you're the only one missing the point. Instead of putting words in my mouth, stick to what I wrote. Remedial reading skills are a prerequisite, however.

whoever said earlier (I am too lazy to go back 10 pages to find it) that Elvis would never sell out a stadium like MJ, doesn't have a clue of who Elvis was. Like I said earlier, if in 10 yrs they were able to bring both of those guys back for a concert, the line would be a lot longer at Elvis concert than at Jacksons.

Anybody that is younger than 40 should not be allowed to have an opinion in this thread. If you did not live thru both of their primes, you can not possibly fathom how huge Elvis was.

My mistake, you quoted me so naturally......

Name calling time is it, have fun with all that... This issue is not so pressing that i'm going to resort to insults.

Btw, you're one of my favorite posters on here but i like you much better when you are cracking jokes and making smart *** comments.

How on earth do you know this?

And if we are talking about concerts outside of the United States, you defiantely don't know that.

A Presley-MJ duet would have been interesting to see. Certainly no weirder than Bowie-Crosby.

Actually, if Elvis came alive today and put a concert on vs. Michael Jackson, MJ would win because most of Elvis's fans are DEAD AS HELL...!

Now, if we could resurrect all the dead Elvis fans, that's another story!
