The Mets have shut down David Wright from throwing again. But on teh bright side David is going to do everything possible to get ready to collect his 20 million eerrr, I meant get ready for Spring Training next year.

Angels hitting is pathetic. 3 starters hitting below .180. Our cleanup hitter (when Pujols is out, which he has been a lot, lately) is hitting .150 with an OPS+ of 36 (Valbuena) lol. Didn't even know it went that low. This makes Mike Trout's season all that more impressive.

Our surging leadoff hitter, Cam Maybin, left the game injured today. We've been getting quality starts and good bullpen performances with scraps -- all credit to Charles Nagy (our pitching coach). He's been wonderful. And Maldonado behind the plate has been magnificent. But my gosh, it's a miracle we're .500 with the team/lineup we're fielding. Mike Trout is literally keeping us relevant for that second wild card spot.

17 straight scoreless innings on offense. Pathetic. Just pathetic.

What else is going on around baseball, folks?

I am already done with Mets. First time in my life I go to bed before they finish playing

Things you can count on for mets is Wright not playing, D'arnaud getting hurt three times a year, cespedes pulling a muscle, two or three starting pitches breaking or straining something, couple of players getting ped suspensions, getting excited when duda gets hot and wishing he would get hurt again when he goes cold.

Mets gave lagares a multi million dollar contract and he busted on it before it kicked in. Looks like they avoided a bullet when Neil Walker declined their contract offer. Should have kept Daniel Murphy. Stupid Mets. Bring up the kids. Rosario should be on the field. But Mets are holding off bringing him on because they lose a year if arbitration. Put Cabrera at 3rd and kid at short. Being gm is not that difficult but Sandy us too slow to act and tries to rob the other team in any deal.

Agreed on the Daniel Murphy thing... Horrible decision by the Mets.

Well let's see...

The Rangers were at one point 8 1/2 games behind the Astros.

Then they had a 10 game winning street and only gained a couple games.

Now they're 9 games back.

Yeah, Texas and Anaheim are in stagnant mode. The only thing holding me together is the fact that there's that second wild card spot (that you guys held for a little while), and we're fighting for it. We have some guys coming back, so hopefully we shore up our pitiful lineup.

Darvish has held up well this year, so far. Good for him.

Mike Trout off to his best start and he is on HOF track. WAR is the latest stat the geeks like to use to measure player value. Only two players in history have strung together 5 better years than Trout based on WAR, Babe Ruth and Walter Johnson. He is only 26 and the fact that he is surrounded by trash will probably prevent him from winning a triple crown this year. He already has a higher WAR than I believe 11 players already in the HOF. So far you are watching greatness and I dont like throwing that word around.

He's 25. And yes, he's a transcendent athlete. :)

After going through this thread, I covered Trouty more in the MVP thread I started. Should be a page or two back. There's some stuff in here, too, but his b/fWAR and such is in that thread @RS12

Having Trout & Harper coming up at the same time is like having Mays & Mantle arriving...

It's one of those "once in a generational" type of things.

The interesting thing will be... Will they both stay with their current teams past the age of 30?

With all due respect, Mike, Harper isn't on Trout's level. Not even close. He's a great ball player, but he isn't as consistent as Trout, and plays a far easier position. Trout also plays half his season in a pitcher's ball park

It's Trout and whoever is currently hot that gets compared to him. Trout's career WAR is higher than Harper's and Machado's combined.

Harper will break the record books, tho, when he signs his new deal, whether it's with the Nats or another team.

Don't see him leaving the Nats unless some team offers him more money. Don't see the Nats not being the highest bidder.
