And the Astros have their toughest stretch of the season over the next month, so if the Rangers are going to make up ground, now is the time to do so.

Despite their terrific record, this was the first time the Astros have swept a 3-game series this series. They had been very consistent at winning two out of every three game set. The sweep of the Marlins was rare.

Now comes some difficult tests with the Indians, Tigers and Orioles coming up.

How is the Angel fan turnout at Arlington, JC?

Mike Trout is on his way to his 3rd MVP. First in OBP, first in OPS, 2nd in HR, 3rd in RBI, 4th in AVG, 4th in runs, 5th in BB, 5th in SB and he missed 6 games (AL ranks). He's striking out at his lowest rate since his rookie year.

Every year there's a "new Mike Trout" -- first it was Donaldson, then Altuve, then Harper, then Betts, now it's Freeman. There's always one constant -- the 2x MVP (2nd in voting the other three years), 5x Silver Slugger (in 5 seasons/Harper has one), and Hank Aaron award winner -- Mike Trout!

Pujols is quietly in 2nd in the AL in RBIs. That's all we ask of gramps at this point. Just drive in Trout.

Speaking of the Angles reminded of Albert Pujols.
I was at the Rangers/Cards World Series game where Pujols hit 3 homers.
Front row, 3rd base side between 3rd and the outfield. One of the homers hit the wall behind the fence so hard it bounced half way back to the infield, right in front of us

That's awesome, JC! Great seats! Yeah, he used to be a very, very powerful hitter.

Now, his bat speed has slowed down some with age (he's probably 3-4 years older than his stated 36, but that's a whoooole different story). Now, he's being patient and waiting for hanging breaking balls, upper 80s to low 90s fastballs, and sliders that drift back over the plate. His power is down, but he still hits the ball the other way with drive.

Our stadium is the same -- when the damn Yanks or Sox come into town it's 15k strong of them. When the damned Dodgers come it's closer to 25k. Ugh!

Yup, we get to play each other this weekend, both of our first interleague play of the season.

Angels have been clicking with Maybin at leadoff and we've been pulling rabbits out of our hats with starting pitching lately, held together by duct tape and 50-50 cord.

Both of our clubs are decimated with injuries. Gonna be fun, Dex
