MLB Offseason thread

Yeah, with winning post-season accolades comes the pressure of how to keep everyone happy.

He's under contract for another two seasons.

He's certainly worthy of an extension and a salary increase. They could probably give him an extension and an increase and not have it be as high as it could if he were a free agent meaning he would probably give a "home-town" discount to get a salary boost starting next season.

And then you have Keuchel and Marwin to consider, who are both FA's after next season.

Do you let them go and collect draft picks for them and hope someone in the farm system can take over or do you extend them this offseason?
Yes! You let Altuve go to the Angels and I will rejoice and be glad in it!!!! :)

And that could happen.

But through free agency it wouldn't happen until he's 30.

#1 Houston needs to extend him.

If not or they can't... I could foresee them trading him after next season. Is it probable? No. But possible. They could get quite the haul for him.

We couldn't scratch the value needed to trade for him, Mike :(

I wouldn't want us to, either, after seeing how HOU just won a Chip building from within, and how Eppler and his staff have handled the FO since he's been here. We've been drafting very well, and signing free agents at a lot less of a miss-rate than before.

Was more tongue and cheek :) (and dreaming; we need a 2b sooooo badly)

If Altuve ever leaves the Astros, the flood in Houston will be greater than the flood Harvey left

:(

I saw some situational stats between the two like August/Sept BA, BA after the 7th, with RISP, etc etc. Altuve dominated Judge in every category but HR's I think.

I think Altuve's high-level of consistency year after year probably factored into it somehow.

Also I think Judge's swoon from the All-star game until Sep 1st affected the vote.

Altuve's consistency year-to-year is the only one in baseball who's consistency compares with Trout. Altuve is a true great (NOT A MEDIA DARLING) and absolutely deserved the MVP, Mike. Very happy for Jose.

Now, Mike will win the next 3 out of 4 or 4 out of 5 :)

He could.

Carlos Correa may have a say in that. :)

The stats compiled in October are the ones ppl remember the most and separate the greats from the greaters ;)
