And that's going to be Trout's challenge... The Angels do not have the look of a playoff team for at least the next couple seasons.
But at least he now has Upton batting behind him. Something he hasn't had since Hunter, his rookie year, and he's still snagged 5 SSs and 2 MVPs and two runner ups.

He is better than everyone, everywhere, guys. He is the best in a generation, or more. Please don't compare him to Correa, as great as Correa is.

Trout is a phenom. Correa is a super-star.

Trout is Mantle. Correa, if he peaks, is Maris.

He could.

Carlos Correa may have a say in that. :)
Fine, Correa can have the one in three or one if four, Mike :)

I'd put my money on Altuve getting it over Correa, tho, based on his production and consistency.

His (Jose's) numbers remind me of Mauer. Let's hope he (Jose) lasts longer.

Let’s not forget Springer

Two words: Mike Moustakas. To everybody else Trout at 26 with higher WAR than 12 current HOFers. Dont hold his Eagle fandom against him.
Hmm. Hearing the Angels may sit out on Moose, RS. They may be in on Machado next year.

Yup, Trout is already a HOF

His Eagle fandom is awful, daggonit, but understandable

And it will be a challenge to keep the Astros stars together for the long run

Many of the players are not due to enter free agency until past the 2020 season.

In addition all won't be leaving, we know several will be retained.

Finally the Astros farm city is still loaded especially at the lower levels with guys that will not be expected to contribute for a few more seasons.

If the Astros continue to draft well, make smart free agent acquisitions like Charlie Morton there's no reason they can't field a competitive team for the next decade.

Maris?

LOL!

You've got your "homer" hat on again.

I love me some correa. Since kid, I have longed for the astros to plug the biggest hole on the team, SS. Correa not only plugged it, but he is a two way stud, both O and D. I mean we have had several defensive SS, but never an offensive threat over the long term. Thon could have been, but the eye injury ruined that chance.

Oh yeah... I remember the original "Good field, no hit" SS in Roger Metzger.

Here's what Bill James said about Trout's chances for MVP this season:

"Mike Trout

So why didn’t I discuss Mike Trout, when I was arguing with the world about whether Judge was on the same level as Jose Altuve?

Because he was never a real candidate for the Award. It was obvious that either Judge or Altuve was going to win the award. Why would I waste my time worrying about somebody who had no chance to win the award?

So do I believe that Mike Trout should have been an MVP candidate?

No, I do not. He missed 30% of the season. You have to discount his value for that, and it’s not a small discount; it’s a big discount. He’s a marginal candidate at best."

Who has said he deserved the MVP? No angel fan i know.

Kinda pointless.

What we have said is that he would’ve won it if he didn’t get hurt. He was off to his best start of his career.
