Happy Friday Pops and everyone. I have a great deal of nothing to do over the next couple of days as my finger heals from it's unfortunate attachment to my hand. I should know better and I do, but at the same time I don't pay myself any attention when I should. Once the sun and heat index reached a tolerable level, I tried to remind my bushes that it's not in their best interest to grow. The mosquito fogger came through and mercifully the guy saw me and cut it off. I attacked those wayward bushes and hope this is the last time this year. I went to the other side of the house and was giving those bushes the once over when I saw my extension cord getting into the trimmer blades. I thought I was being careful, but my finger got into the blades and once again, I'm bleeding all over the place. (Second time this year.) I have to let the finger heal up, so I'm on a restricted work schedule.

Major respect for everyone that has been able to stay married over 3 and 1/2 years.

Hoping everyone else has a peaceful, work free weekend.

What did I try to tell you? Most accidents happen around the house when you're doing stuff around the house. The house is your retreat from work, your safe haven. The house and yard are trying to tell you something...leave us alone!!!

Ouch X! That sounds painful. Did you have to get it stitched up? A few years ago, the bbq pit lid closed on my right middle finger. I was moving the pit with the lid up, duh me! Lol . It was ugly but still have all my fingers. (knock on wood).

It’s Friday! Have a good rest of the day and great weekend everyone.

Good morning Pops and Zoner Friends.

Another weekend of scuba diving instructions - my last weekend commitment for quite some time. We have a lot of trips coming up in the next couple of weeks, so I will be pretty well land-locked until early October.

Ouch @Xelda, hope the hand heels fast.

I am traveling to San Antonio next weekend to see my mother for a few days. I love San Antonio, especially the River Walk area and the north side of town... Just not a fan of visiting in the middle of summer.

Morning Pops!....and I mean that.

@Xelda , I have an electric hedge trimmer too. Well, sometimes it's electric. It doesn't work nearly as well after I forget there's an extension cord attached. I've used it three times, and so far, I've cut through two extension cords and the TV cable on my house. (Didn't see it through the plants.)

I almost got my finger with it on the 4th of July, but got lucky, otherwise we'd be bloodfinger buddies. Hope that doesn't leave you with a horrible disfigurement!

My wife and I used to go down there to visit my aunts and our first stop on the Riverwalk was Boudro's for margs and tableside guac with extra heat. We stayed a couple of times in the Hotel Havana which was really a cool place with authentic furniture, decor and photos on the walls and we'd sit in the club and have fresh hand made Mojito's and I'd bring a few of my Cuban stogs along as the Cuban music was present throughout the hotel.

We made friends with the bartender, who was from Havana and he had this photo hanging behind the bar of his Dad, a well known bartender from Havana, sitting at the bar with Hemingway having a Mojito with him.

Afternoon Pops and everyone.

I went nosing around in some of the other forums today... kind of a day trip. Felt very foreign to me. This discussion/board is definitely more entertaining and at the same time feels much more personal. Thank you all for taking the time to put your 'selves' into the chatter. Feels more like 'home'.

Afternoon Pops and friends. Thank you all for your kind words over my unfortunate disfigurement. I didn't go to the hospital because I can spritz the wound with alcohol, wrap it in some paper towels and hold it over my head until it stops bleeding. It looks like it will be fine. I've lost 2 extension cords myself while trimming bushes. I've been sorely tempted to get artificial ones.
My cable cord story may be similar. I had something like English Ivy growing up in the back.
I'm glad you didn't cut your finger, Runny. We can still say we're bloodfinger buddies.

It was Zimbabwe hot in WNY - I nearly had to kill again.
 We know heat here in the south, so we can appreciate what you're going through. I hope it doesn't stick around up there. :omg: Say what?

We see you dropping names like bartender and Hemingway. It felt like you took us along for the journey. I half expected to see Ricky and LOOOSEE.

You should check out the other forums from time to time. The one right below this one has some humdingers in it. Still, this is where the cool kids are.

Thank you again everyone for your words. I was down in the dumps until I saw them. Very much appreciated. Have a good weekend.

Afternoon Pops and friends. Another scorcher today. Mid 90s feels like 106. August is normally the hottest month around here so have to hold on a little longer. I’m heading to deep south Texas tomorrow morning so I have to mow today. Wish I had a sombrero or umbrella hat. Some of my tools are packed and going to see what kind of damage my nephew and I can do at my mom’s house. Nothing major needs to be done, just some mom honey-do’s.
Enjoy this day

RGV... I feel your pain. We have the same temps here where I am in Iowa and its been similar to that for 3-4 weeks. Looking forward to mid to upper 70's tomorrow and cooler temps in the 80's next week.

Have I said how much I dislike summer? I think I have. Several times. Yeah, still don't like it.

Yeah, same weather here, and the AC is out at Hooters. I brought a couple of fans with me, which was much appreciated, but they aren't helping all that much. At least the girls can stand in front of them and cool off for a minute or two.

Evening Pops and everyone.

Gearing up here in the downtown for one of the big summer festivals: the Box 7 road race (real racing: running, not cars). They used to do a simulcast of the race between one of our local TV stations and ESPN but I don't know if they still do or not. Monday the City will start hanging no parking signs and Wednesday night will start littering the sidewalks with barricades and start placing them on Thursday morning and blocking off roads, making it impossible for traffic to flow as needed (this is when it's beneficial to live where I work because I don't really have to battle any of it). Since I live right in the downtown it's all right out the back door to my building, and primarily the band stages and beginning of the food tents. A block away the crafters will set up their tents. That all will stay until late Saturday/earthly Sunday and then the city's worker bees will spend all day Sunday cleaning it all up so it's all back to normal in Monday morning.
I believe the only time I hear someone loves Summer, it's northerners.
Not this one.

I found another headline which makes me wonder why didn't the family request a name change. I don't care if he has Bill Gates kind of money, I would not marry into this: Veteran Indian politician Sheila Diksheet dies aged 81 (it was censored - replace the two e's with one i)

I try to stay somewhat informed.
