Good afternoon Pops and friends. Wife and I decided to visit The House Of Pies in Houston today. I didn’t know they were a restaurant also. Heck after I eat, might not have room for a slice of pie.

I keep checking my phone hoping to hear from Leon.
That's like the Cheesecake Factory, they should have that menu in paperback.

One thing that could be keeping him from reaching out is the lack of power. He would need to charge his cellphone and I would imagine they've been using it a lot to stay in contact with family. No one, including the people that predict these storms, expected this. Every time it would worsen, they'd think this is as bad as it's going to get until it began to hit the Bahamas with sustained 185mph winds and move at 1 mph.

Good afternoon, Pops and pen pals. We are sa'fe and sound and back in our condo after spending the previous 4 days in an emergency evacuation center. We had no power so I had no way to let Y'all know we were okay. There was no damage to our condo so that's a relief. Lot's to do now so if power is still up tomorrow I'll check in.

We ordered a cherry pie and apple pie to go. I think I got played, we’re at Sam’s now. I fell for the old cherry pie trick. She’s loading the wagon too :muttley:

I’ve been in a couple hurricanes but they are all squalls compared to this one.

Hopefully, the first thing you checked was my margarita glass.

WOOOOOO! Leon's safe! We can relax now! Thank you for letting us know, Leon. We can get back to praying for Coach and Runny.

Confucius say "cost of pie is always greater than pie". He also wants to know where the chocolate pie is.

Afternoon Pops and friends. We can all take a collective sigh of relief knowing Leon, family and Coach's margarita glass are safe. Our prayers worked!

I didn't address this earlier but I'm afraid it's time to fire your boss, Jan.

Today is questionable since I'm sick of eating what I've got in my house but don't have room to buy groceries. Life is funny like that sometimes. Have a good day everyone!

Pour maple syrup on whatever you have. Completely changes the flavor!

Fire him. Do it!!! He told me he's only working another 9 years anyway (provided he lives that long - his words) so whoopietwangadang. Not real happy with him right now.

And yes, I too hate when there's food around and seemingly nothing to eat... try to survive.;)

Isn't that wacky? I get in the same predicament but will go one step beyond that. I will fix something and not want it and go pick something up. Then to top that off, will look at it like I just made room for something else.

It is a compulsion because I took the test about food compulsion and failed miserably. I have two fridge's and both freezers are packed as well as the fridges and my walk in pantry looks like a refuge from Armageddon. I have guilt from wasting food and my largest donations are to the Central Texas Food Bank to the point I got a phone invitation to their gala to sit at the special table. I told her I'd bring the food and she laughed but she didn't get it. I was wanting to make room.

My wife used to ask me "what are you going to do with that? Why don't we fix that"? I would respond "I'm saving it" and I meant it, just didn't know for what. I open the full pantry with a satisfied and secure smile and can't find anything I want to eat.

I ordered this really cool pad with the days on the left for the menu and the shopping list on the right, what a great idea. It's been up on the fridge for 18 months and I've yet to use the first sheet. However, I am saving them for a special occasion, I guess.

Sounds like a real jerk. Workaholics are fine as long as they don't expect their employees to be that as well. My employees loved me, I was lazy and looked at it as work can create more work so let's be careful. I really wasn't that bad but I did set up goals for them to get extra time off. Much has been written about what motivates employees and I found the most common one was time off with pay. I saw them work harder to get it and come back happier after getting that extra day off.

Managers need to learn to evaluate productivity; that's a hell of a lot more than hours at work.

True... He is a good boss. Just overly demanding. "I'm just one person. I don't get how the 5 of you can't keep up." How 'bout because he doesn't push the paper or type up all his crazy ideas. He paid me for 3 months out of his own pocket when I was off work for my surgery until my long term disability kicked in (I was off work for 6 months total), and we literally pay $1.00 per pay period for our health insurance. He basically pays all that for us. His personnel handling skills can use some work, that I'll admit.

I take it back, he's not a jerk. What you described trumps the personnel handling skills and that's a special boss.
