Good morning Pops and friends. Do you know what the best thing about Winter is? The fact that it's not Summer and the Dallas Cowboys. We still have the "not Summer" part to enjoy until Mother Nature goes on a bender against us. She seems annoyed with the South right now and is threatening all manner of evil against us. Tomorrow night, we've got a TorCon of 6, but so does Houston. I'm not sure how I feel about sharing a threat with Houston. We always deal with Dallas' left overs. I know it's not interesting, but my brain is telling me that it needs more caffeine.

I did get one of my wishes, new coach put on Dallas blue for some photos. I'm having an awful time remembering his name. I'm very dismissive of all things Green Bay although I felt he was treated unfairly by AR and couldn't believe they'd choose the QB over the HC. I'm sure there's plenty of video footage of AR with his wide variety of brooding and smirks.

It might be nice for Dak to have Tom Brady come here, but he hates Dallas for rolling over the 49ers in the 90s. No accounting for taste. The GOAT has out goated himself where we're concerned. It was just a though floating through the whimsy of my mind

Wishing everyone a good Thursday..

Afternoon Pops. Afternoon Fellas and good afternoon to all who stop in and visit this thread.

It's overcast here today, kinda cool so guess I'll be staying inside today. How is everybody doing this week?

Guess the big news is all of the Coaching changes for the team. Not real sure how all of this is gonna play out but something had to change so here we go.

Leon, good to hear you are none the worse for wear after having taken a little fall there. Used to own a house a few years ago with a Metal Roof. We'd have to get up on the Roof and change over the Swamp Coolers come spring and Fall. Anyway, that thing was slick as a snot when it got a little bit wet or when it had dew on it. Normally, I'd try to get up there early in the morning before it got too hot because trust me, that thing was blistering once the sun came up. So one year I was up there and sure enough, I slipped on the Dew and slid off the edge of the Roof. Now, that house was situatated in such a way as to have a 20x50 deck facing the Golf Course. That's where I landed. I guess the fall was maybe 12 to 15 feet or so. landed on my feet and screwed up my anckle, back and knee wasn't feeling too good either but they were all fine. Long story short, I was OK but from then on, I sent the Boys up to change over those damned things. LOL......... Either way, I'm glad you are OK Brother.

Jobs, Leon, dbrp, Xelda, zrin, Trouty, ksk, RGV, Coach, RWB, Ranching, SW, John, Jan, Corso and Colo, I hope you are all doing well. If not, keep on trying, it's bound to get a little bit better.

Everybody, it's Thursday Afternoon, rounding the bend to Friday. Everybody, get up, kill it tomorrow and have yourself a great weekend!

God Bless!

Good morning Pops and Zoner Friends,

What a difference a week makes. Just a week or so ago, the sports media and this forum were slogging through countless stories about Garrett - multiple exit interviews, negotiating for yet another chance - Meyer, Riley, etc.

And, where are we now? A proven HC and a rebuilt coaching staff. Things are looking up and in my head, I hear the song, "Tomorrow" from the play Annie..."The sun'll come out
Tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar.."

It is still dark here and I am standing on our balcony in sub-freezing weather with a cup of tea watching a bob cat attack (in a playful manner) our hot tub. I find it amusing watching this wild cat display very house cat-like behavior. I just hope it doesn't figure out there is a staircase leading from near the hot tub to the balcony. My wife would make a beautiful widow.

Hope all is well in your neighborhood

Morning, Pops and pen pals. TGIF for you working folks. We are enjoying our time here so far. The margarita glasses are clean if anyone chooses to join us. My wife's sister and niece will be arriving next month. The wind has been blowing pretty hard the last couple of days but it hasn't stopped me from walking on the beach. Have a great day, everyone.

I know what you mean about the metal roof, ABQ. Our house in Hawaii had a metal roof, as did most of the houses there. With the help of my brother and brother-in-law we doubled the size of the house. My brother and I put on the new roof. The house was built on stilts about one story off the ground. You could walk under the house without bending over, so the roof was actually two stories up and it had a steep pitch. I was scared out of my wits screwing the roof down, especially along the edges. Took all my will power to finish the job.

Afternoon Pops and youse guys, feeling a little like getting my yankee on today.

Well, the removal of the Garrett tumor has proven to be just what the Fan Forum needed. Most are in a much better state of mind and some even feeling positive about Big Mike and his new band of merry men.

This is the best weekend of football coming up. The NFL divisional round, 2 games Sat and Sun, and then the CFP finale and I am making Oysters Rockefeller and BBQ shrimp for the occasion of my second, and adopted team, the LSU Fighting Tigers being a participant. Not to be confused with the Clemson (just regular) Tigers.

I lived in Baton Rouge for 4 years in the 80's, 3 in New Orleans in the 70's, and just thought the Razorback fans were nuts before I witnessed them in action. Tailgating for LSU home games was an experience unlike any other.

Afternoon Pops. Afternoon Fellas and good afternoon to all who check out the thread.

We made it, we are here! Welcome to the weekend! Taking out my parents for my Dad's BDay today so it will likely be an early evening, LOL........ God Bless them both!

"I lived in Baton Rouge for 4 years in the 80's, 3 in New Orleans in the 70's" This explains quit a bit Coach.......

Jobs, Leon, dbrp, Xelda, zrin, Trouty, ksk, RGV, Coach, RWB, Ranching, SW, John, Jan, Corso and Colo, you guys are the best. I'm sure I don't say that enough and I'm equally sure that I didn't say it enough to many who have frequented this thread over the years. If I had, maybe they would post more, IDK. I can say that this has been something that I could stand to get better at through my entire life. As a kid and as a younger person, I was raised in such a way as to just expect people to do a good job, do the right thing and not expect anything in return for doing a good job and doing the right thing. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't think that was wrong, that's just how it was for us. But what that means is that I'm not all that great at telling folks how exceptional they are, all too often. You have my apologies for that y'all.....

Everybody, have a great Weekend! Go have fun this afternoon but be home and safe when it's all said and done.

Peace!

Afternoon Pops and everyone.

It's January. It's the Midwest. Ya think we should know how to handle a little snowfall? Went to the store today and this is a general depiction of how people here behave...

Have a great afternoon everyone:D

I never understood the "milk" part. Do you really want a new gallon of milk if the power goes out?

Morning Pops and weekenders, I live vicariously through your unbridled joy. I am pretending I have a job so this will be even better. I am the referee and corrections officer at the Texas State Penitentiary and my job is to separate gang fights in the yard. I soooooooo want this weekend to go slowly and savor every waking minute of it.

I echo Leon's sentiments, the coffee is great this morning.

The weathernerds were in rare form last night as this storm passed through. All of the Austin TV stations had crews over here and I was seeing !'s behind them every time they described the size of hail. One anchorwoman struggled to show the size of baseball hail and it was uncomfortable watching her, looked like she was describing her man to another woman.

I can remember that kindly old white haired gentleman that did The Weather Channel years ago. Could have been "The Day After Tomorrow" for real and he's not getting excited about anything. And they played that smooth jazz in the background to soothe us and keep us calm. Now, it's Ride of the Valkyries and "run for you lives for you're all gonna diiiiieeeeee!!!!

I was up until early this morning so... Good morning Pops and friends. We went from the 70s to fall at the North Pole. The storm rolled through, stopped to pee and get something to eat. My dogs were trembling and one got mad at me for not doing enough to comfort her. The mostly deaf one was even upset. I knew they weren't going to let me sleep, so I laid there and listened as I tried to comfort them. I'd heard a tornado over head once before at work. My little town made national news that day. The major street leading to my house had a town house on fire. Traffic was moving slowly and I felt like someone in a movie surveying what is and very concerned about what's to come. I had to prove I lived in the neighborhood in order to get home. Tarps were everywhere in the neighborhood up to the last house on my side of the street. My house wasn't affected, thank God. My tornado didn't sound like a train, it sounded more like the angels were bowling in Heaven with asteroids for balls.

I watched the neighbor's large Elm tree shake in the wind as the rain came in sideways down the street. The lightning was having a party. The rain eventually turned from heading East to South and blew into my house. When my house was built, they didn't fill in around all the bottom bricks. I have one or two openings at the base which an insurance adjuster said is normal. It caused excessive amounts of water on my floor. I threw all my dog towels down but they weren't able to do the job, so I had to get my steam cleaner out. It wasn't as much fun as I'm making it sound because it was way past my bed time. I've got something that's a cross between a tree and a giant bush that was uprooted in the back and is laying on the fence. I'll think of something.

Gramma, Cher needs to slap the milk guy and tell him to "Snap out of it" Moonstruck style.
Happy belated :star:day!
Thank you, Runny! I know it's silly, but sometimes the mundane is all I've got.

Coach, I never would have thought of you as the one to searate gang fights, you're more of an instigator. You'd most likely get them riled up with gossip and innuendo, then let others try to separate them as you laugh from a safe distance.

I'd better get off the computer so I can start brooding over the uprooted tree/bush. Enjoy your Saturday and may the teams you're rooting for win.

Glad the twister missed ya, X!! I didn't know you had one nearby, but you must've been in a really bad mood for it to stop short of your house.

Good afternoon Pops and friends. Hey X, good to hear you survived the storm. I was worried about you and folks just north of us. We caught the tail end of it far south of you. Woke me up at 1:09 AM and kept me up about 15 minutes. Next thing I know it was almost 7AM. It knocked over a couple flowers pots and knocked some moss off the trees. I’ve been out and about all day and turned on the tv 30 minutes ago. A pleasant surprise to see a couple of games scheduled for today. I’ll sit b and watch other fans sweat it out. So there is an advantage of not being in the playoffs . No pressure no stress . Thanks a lot JG.

Have a great weekend friends.
