Afternoon Pops, friends and cousin Leon. STAY OUT OF COSTCO! Was that subtle or have I been disinherited? Ah well, I always knew ABQ and Coach were his favorites. I don't know what to say about the vertigo, but I hope you can find the cause and get rid of it. I only dealt with something like vertigo after a half bottle of champagne. That was bad!

Wishing everyone a good day.

Morning, Pops and pen pals. We leave this afternoon to drive to Abilene for my eye surgery tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. I have to be at the surgery center at 6 a.m. Probably won't be posting much as my face will need to be pointing straight down to the floor for a week or two. Take care, everyone.

Morning Pops and everyone.
Leon, safe travels and prayers for success with your surgery. As for posting, maybe you could get one of those massage tables and take advantage of your circumstances. Do you think insurance would cover that and a masseuse? I'd be checking on that. Besides, the people on this site are like therapy for you as you are for us so it's kind of necessary:rolleyes:, and I'm sure you'd be able to find some volunteers to occupy the time of that table and the masseuse when you aren't using them:).

Take care, my friend. Best to you.

Everyone have a great day.

Good morning Pops and friends.
Wishing you the best and speedy recovery Leon. If you need someone to house sit your Bahamas resort, I’m pretty sure you could find some volunteers.

I’ll be firing up my mower in about an hour and do my thing. It takes me about an hour to finish. It’s a cool day so my wife and I will get our 3 miles in this afternoon.

Have a great day everyone.

Go Cowboys!

Godspeed, Leon... Here's to a speedy recovery.

RGV, I had to smile at your comment about firing up the mower. I was just thinking that I needed to service my little John Deer tractor. Supposedly, it's going to reach the mid-60's this week. :)

Xelda, I used to hate going to Costco, but I have altered my view. It's all about people-watching now. And, I must say, I find it really entertaining. Still hate going to Walmart, though.

GJ, funny you should mention a massage table; I have a session scheduled later this morning. Not, I want to quickly add, the establishment frequented by Robert Kraft.

Have a great day, everyone

My last gig was in OK and I knew the manager of the Walmart there well as he used my stations for recruiting and that specific Walmart was considered the prototype for Walmart People by the executives that would visit that area. The people watching was unmatched and I saw and heard things there that could barely be described and even wrote a short story about My Trip to Walmart and sent it out to family and friends to rave reviews.

Our building was behind Walmart and one day I get this call from the manager. I answer and hear "are you doing something important like saving lives right now"? I laughed and he said you've got to come over right now and see this. Well, you can imagine if a Walmart manager is calling something a must see, if I was involved in heart surgery, I would have hit the pause button.

There are special days for Walmart but none could even approach the day Twinkies were back on the shelf. There were very large women, most with very large children, lined up in carts loaded with boxes of Twinkies and Walmart had even diverted a truck headed for the Gainesville, TX store to this one in OK because of the run on Twinkies that started at midnight. Some of the boxes had been ripped apart and the code was the only thing left standing for the scanning. I saw chubby little kids with Twinkie cream from ear to ear and most of these women with the open boxes could have used their faces for post orgasmic delight for a porn movie. It was the epitome of euphoria.

The manager said he'd arrived a little before 7 as the second truck was being unloaded and he described the faces of the women as being "trance like" as they were held at bay while his employees, very nervous employees, stacked box after box and would then retreat to safety to wait to bring the next cases out....after the frenzy subsided.

I have no idea how we look to our food but if those Twinkies could have seen the looks on those faces, especially the eyes, they would have committed suicide before being eaten alive. It was snack carnage on a grand scale.

I haven't witnessed anything at this Walmart in Marble Falls to even come close to that one but they do have a guy picking up carts in the parking lot that's a real hoot. I should call my guy in OK and suggest he trade a checker for this guy, he'd fit in nicely.

Twinkie day at Walmart... It just doesn't get any better than that.

To occupy my mind on a long road trip, I used to mentally count the number of driver's that were using their cell phones to talk or text. For perspective, 30-40 percent is pretty typical.

My new mind-occupying game is to count the number of Walmart shoppers that show up in, well, PJ's. I suppose the more appropriate term is "lounge clothing". It is not yet in the talk and text range, but fully 10-15 percent of the Walmart clientele show in in their bedroom attire.

We didn't travel by plane much as a child, but onon t rare occasions we did, my mother and father and my brothersbroth dressed in our Sunday best.

My how things have changed.

Finished mowing while ago. Sitting in the shade now with a nice breeze. Didn’t even work up a sweat

I have a LT1000 Craftsman riding mower that’s 15+ years old and still works real good. Twice a year I add about about a tablespoon of Seafoam motor treatment to a full tank of gas. It keeps the mower’s innards clean. I change the oil once a year. I’ve done minor stuff over the years but it has been money. ;) . I’ve been wanting to get a new one for the last 5 years or so then ask myself why? Lol

I planted an orange tree about 6 years ago. It’s small but it has produced oranges 3 of those years. Last year it bloomed real nice and pretty but all the flowers and bulbs fell off the same day within a week and didn’t produce a single orange. I noticed last year that several of the leaves were curled up, drying and some had black soot on them. I trimmed back all the limbs but one (not recommended I found out later). After I trimmed it back, my tree made Charlie Brown’s Christmas tree look real good. All the limbs grew back and has many flowers for about 3 weeks now. Leaves look healthy. Lady bugs walking up and down the limbs keeping bad bugs off. Several bees flying around the tree doing there thing. So far so good (knock on wood). I’m hoping for a bumper crop of at least half a dz this year. :)

Afternoon Pops and frtiends. Wishing you a successful and minimal post op pain, Leon. Here's hoping Gramma is on solid ground today without vertigo. Congrats on the mowed lawn, RGV. If only summer could be as hospitable as spring. We don't have Costco where I live at, Colo. We do have Sam's though which is the only way Walmart gets any of my money. Coach, I didn't know Twinkies had such a devoted cult following. That was a wonderful story filled with amusing visuals. Have a good day everyone.

Afternoon Pops. Afternoon Fellas and good afternoon to any and all who stop in and visit the thread today.

"Twinkie day at Walmart... It just doesn't get any better than that."

Brad Paisley has a song called "Better Then This" that your post kinda reminds me of:

But if a bus load of women, really good looking women
Just suddenly pulled in here
Old Joe T. Garcia showed up with fajitas and a 100 gallon keg of beer and
Haggard dropped by and brought Willie with him
And they started takin' requests
Well don't get me wrong boys this is pretty good
But it could get better than this.........

I know what you mean BTW, about flying. Back in the day, I remember the Stewardess, very attractive BTW, being dressed to the 9s and the passengers would dress in their Sunday Best as well. It was a big deal to fly somewhere. Now, you get all types of slobs flying. It's like riding a City Bus.

Jobs, Leon, dbrp, Xelda, zrin, Trouty, ksk, RGV, Coach, RWB, Ranching, SW, John and Jan, how is everybody today? Got the Boy today, he's sleeping right now so I have a minute to check in and make a post. Hope all of you are doing well!

Everyone, two days down and tomorrow is hump day. After that, it's a glide path to the weekend! Everybody, have a great day!

Speaking about how people dress these days, especially is public, is that not just more of the signs of our civility slipping away? Rude is the rule of the day too often.

I went to my banker when I lived in Dallas to complain about the casualness of his employees 10 years ago. I told him I have expectations of the people in charge of keeping my money and casual day on Friday is one thing but every day is ridiculous. I also told him the next time my wife is in that branch and gets addressed by anything but Mrs. _______ by one of your twenty something employees, I am pulling everything out and letting your home office know why.

Around this same time, and what charged me up to talk to my banker, I happened to be in Kroger picking up a few items after work one day, and it was packed in the checkout lanes, and was third in line behind this guy that looked to be in his forties, about twice the age of the guy checking him out. I see the checker hand him his change and then turn away and the guy is still standing there and hasn't picked his bag up. The checker turns around and just looks at him. Well, the guy had reached his breaking point and yells as loud as he can "I am waiting to be thanked for my business. There are other options within walking distance and I want to be thanked for my business". Now every head is turned in his direction and people are walking over, including the manager. He's not done yet. "Of course it's no problem, it is your job and you are in customer service and I want to be thanked for giving you my business and keeping you employed".

The manager arrives and he's no longer yelling but he is talking very loudly at the manager. "Who trained this young man, I don't blame him, I blame whoever trained him not to thank the people that keep you in business". It was my action that stopped the man as I was beginning to clap, not a Garrett clap, a real hearty clap and others began to join in as the man was inspiring me. It was "Network's" I am mad as hell and not going to take it anymore moment and it was glorious. The young man was wisely just standing there and the manager was doing everything to defuse the situation. I gotta tell ya, on that day for the rest of the day, there wasn't a shopper not thanked for shopping at Kroger.

Evening Pops and everyone.

Unproductive day. Got nothing done at work, so I focused on getting home tonight and making that banana bread. Yeah, right. Wouldn't you know, over the course of the day I developed an ear infection so I decided I would go after work and look at this house (hoping to buy sometime this year) and hit the convenient care along the way. Somebody want to tell me what's so convenient about sitting in a petri dish of a waiting room for an hour (?), only to be told what I already knew (I'm good at self-diagnosing after all these years, you see...), and then be sent to the wonderful world of 24-hour pharmacies. I got off work at 5 and got home at 9. Not bad considering I live in the same building where I work huh? Guess you could say I took the scenic route today, and I managed all that on peanut butter and pretzels for lunch. No wonder I'm cranky. Back to the beginning of this entry, still no banana bread and I think if I wait much longer the fruit flies will carry away what's left to be had of my poor bananas.

I tend to overreact when I'm hungry. Sorry. Hope the rest of you accomplished all you set out to do today.

Afternoon Pops and friends. Hope the surgery went well, Leon and everyone else is doing well. I think my battery is running low. This would be a good day for a triple espresso to kick start me. The flower bed taunts me but my human bed is doing the same and it is winning right now. I'm tempted to put artificial plants out there and concrete them into place. That's a very good idea, I'm glad I thought of that. Too much nature outside anyway. I should probably finish weeding before concreting. At least the temperature is pleasant right now. I guess that makes it cool and it will be nice once I've finished. There! I've talked me into it! Gotta go before I start talking myself back out of it. Have a good one everyone!

Evening Pops and everyone.

Beautiful mid-sixties sunny day today (there are whispers of possible snow fall this weekend...winters last gasp to be sure)... and finally... the over ripened bananas have found new life this evening in the form of brown sugar topped banana bourbon muffins. That is the last of their journey I will document as I think we all know how it ends;). 'Nuf said on that, but I will be making these again. My goodness but they are yummy and a successful experiment :D.

Leon, hope all went well and you are recovering nicely this evening. Say the word and I'm sure any one of us would be happy to stop at the condo and water your plants, or bring in the mail...whatever is needed. We got your back like that.

Hoping all had a great day. Be blessed.
