Everyone was saying he would be released yesterday for nothing. Nothing is written in stone. It's fluid. Leverage in a situation can go from one extreme to the other and back again. It is an art to know when enough is enough and take your profit and move on and sometimes you don't know when you have overplayed your hand until it is too late.
Not getting a 1st. Lol Texans aren't giving a 2nd to Cleveland to take Brock and turn around and give the cowboys a 1st for Romo. Denver just traded up last year in the 1st to get lynch. They're not giving a 1st, 2 years in a row for qbs. We'll be lucky to even trade him. Even luckier to get a 2nd. No way we're getting a 1st for a 37 yr old qb who hasnt played a meaningful game since 2015. Coming off back surgery in 2016. Preceeded by a clavicle surgery in 2015. Preceeded by another clavicle surgery in 2015. Precceded by missing practice once a week and getting a shot before every game in 2014 because He was coming of back surgery in 2013. We have very little leverage since everyone knows we aren't keeping him.

Does he actually have a no trade clause? If not, who gives a **** what he says? This team owes him nothing. It's time to make a habit of doing what's best for the team.
While I agree team first, even with out no trade clause he could retire or threaten it to kill the deal....

Lol they're not getting a 1st. Be lucky to a 2nd

I'm just about to laugh so hard I'm going to pee my pants. There's not going to be any trade no compensation for Romo but his cap relief when he is designated a post June first cut. Either of these teams Denver or Houston would be completely laughed out of the league if they have got into a bidding war for a guy who is going to be 38 hasn't played much in 2 years and no one is certain he can stay on the field. And this is coming from a huge Romo fan who believes he can play again at a high level. There will be no trade. You people are halarious. You can bet money the GMs of both teams have already discussed this to avoid a bidding war. They will both offer Romo the exact same deal and allow him to choose. He's going to be lucky to get mid range backup pay with incentives for every game that he starts and finishes the game. You people have no clue whatsoever ever.

He's well respected through out the league. He's better than anything Dallas has and just like all best writers he's wrong at times. But he's right more than Hes wrong and no one has inside access to the Texans more than he does. Been listing and reading him since I was 13.
And he called that huge trade of their starting QB... oh wait.

Yes
Plus the obvious fact that any team trading for him will need at least two things from him
1). His confirmation that he wants to be their QB...that his commitment would be there
2) That he would agree to a new deal

Dallas cannot prevent him controling that at this stage of his career one bit.

I seriously doubt Romo retires, but it could happen say Cleveland all of a sudden jumps in. We all know teams like Cleveland aren't looking at Romo. Teams that need a QB who they think can take them deep in the playoffs will be the only real players. The reality here is Romo is still a huge unknown. Teams needing to win now will take that risk and willing to mortgage some future talent. If they can get a 4th for him I'd be really happy with that.

Why would any Cowboys fan spend decades listnening to a Houston homer who blindly discredits the Cowboys? Im not making an argument for or against our own beat writers as Im fairly indifferent to them, but Ive heard more than enough inaccurate anti Cowboy agenda crap come out of his mouth to know hes not worth my time.

How does Romo hold more of the cards? I'm not arguing with you, just questioning why Fisher thinks and continues to repeat this.
No team wants a starting QB who doesnt want them for starters. The GM would have to be brain dead to make trade for a player to lead his team that doesnt want to, orwouldnt fully have his heart in it...or who may not even agree to a new contract.

And of course, retirement is a very real option at this late stage....though it wouldnt have come anywhere near that.

Part of this was Fisher just saying the other obvious part; that Jerry (right or wrong) is not going to screw Romo.

So he has real power and the extra power grated by Jerry in good-will.

I'm not denying that, I'm just saying he's arrogant and he's been saying there was zero chance about getting romo. Not saying I dislike him, he's just so sure of himself then turns out wrong quite often
