I think it really boils down to this, especially for me and from I gather, a lot of cowboys fans:

Jerry the Owner is GOOD to GREAT

Jerry the GM is AVERAGE to POOR

BrAinPaiNt, I don't want any undeserved love.......I am just telling the truth about our owner. Mr. Jones is an owner we should be proud of......he makes mistakes, but I would not trade him for any other owner out there.

Look at the money he spends trying to field a team the fans are proud of. He is not afraid to take chances.....and I respect that as a fan.

Yes, JJ was responsible for alot of that talent.....but, I know for sure Mr. Jones had a lot of input and made the final decisions on the draft with Jimmy.

Na Jerry actually spewed that garbage in '94 when they lost to the 9ers.

Jimmy did'nt let Jerry get away with making final decisions in the draft, else they would'nt have been a Superbowl team back to back years, Jimmy left or was pushed out because Jimmy got tired of fighting Jerry outta the war room and Jerry got tired of being pushed to the side.

It's probably good that you think the way you do though, to keep you from being bitter, like me.

Jerry gets on my nerves sometimes, mostly just when he talks - he seems likeable enough, I just always feel like he's trying to sell me something. Which is ok most of the time, except for when he signed TO - that press conference made me want to puke, it was so smarmy.

But, there is no question that he wants the Cowboys to win more than anything, and that he will do whatever it takes. You don't always hit the home run, and sometimes to flat out strike out, but Jerry always gives it his best shot. And he seems willing to learn, adjust and adapt.

NO other owner LOVES his team as much as Mr. Jones does--period!

1st owner to win 3 Super Bowls in a 4 year span.

Pulled off the biggest trade in NFL history. Hershal for 3 Super Bowls basically.

He is the envy of ALL of his NFL peers because of his business mind.

1. Every owner loves his team. That statement was just plain ridiculous.

2. Jimmy Johnson was mainly responsible for the Walker trade and drafting guys like Leon Lett and Tony Tolbert (Seriously, do you think that was Jones or the guy who left Dallas and built the Miami defense through draft picks that is still good to this day?)

3. Trust me, Jones is not the envy of all his peers. If you think otherwise, can you please provide a link that supports this statement? If not, you are just being a blind homer Cowboys fan. Shocking.

4. True fans get upset when the team they root for and pay money to support isn't being run the right way. People who just go along with anything are mindless drones. My God, look at what Jones has done to this team since Johnson left. Are you blind? Go through the drafts. Go through the free agent signings. Go through the coaching hires. It's all documented. Go ahead and look at it.

An intelligent fan understands the downward direction this team has taken in the last decade and while they don't like it, they still root for them because they'll always love the Cowboys. The yahoos come on here and say, "Cowboys rule." Sorry, but a 6-year old could do that. Just because you painted your face and took a picture with the owner doesn't make you a bigger fan than anyone else on this board my friend. I love the Cowboys just as much as you do but to come on here and say Jones is in the right because "he loves his team" is crazy.

While you use that to support your argument, I can post the results of 10 terrible drafts, countless free agent failures, the hiring of four coaches (soon to be five) in 12 years and no playoff wins and six non-winning seasons in the last 10 years. In other words, if this was a debate, you would lose.

Hum, do you have a link showing Jimmy built that Miami D? Don Shula may tell you otherwise.....in addition, if Mr. Jones had been the owner of Miami during Johnson's tenure.....maybe Jimmy would have won some title?

No, I am not blind. I can see the past and the three Super Bowls Mr. Jones helped bring to Dallas. I can see ALL the mistakes he has made......never said he was the perfect owner......but, he is the BEST!

I am not sure if I am an intelligent fan or not, however, I do understand the downward direction of this team. I just don't blame it solely on Mr. Jones.

Wow....and I can post you Three great years winning the Super Bowl and turning around the mis-fortunes of a team who lost the prior 10 years before Mr. Jones took over.

I respect your opinion, however, I do not agree with ALL of it but you bring up some good stuff.

I do not believe ALL owners love their team or they sure do not show it. A good number of owners in the NFL, will NOT spend the money required to compete during the season. Why? They are more concerned about the bottom line for their respective team. Not Mr. Jones--he wants to win that Super Bowl every year and I as a fan love that fact.


What owner's do you believe are better then Mr. Jones? Right, just as I thought.....they can be counted on one hand--right?
