Mr JERRY JONES--The greatest NFL owner of all-time!

I agree. I think JJ is a great owner and willing to do whatever it takes to win championships. We are very fortunate to have him as our owner, most of the alternatives are down right scary.

What has he done for us lately, oh and I think a certain individual named Jimmy Johnson had something to do with ALL those superbowl wins and the Herchel Walker trade.

Jerry is the one who makes trades like 2 1st round picks for Joey Galloway and yes drafting a 6th round projected Quincy Carter in the 2ND round.

I guess I can understand support for the owner of our team in hopes of future success, but please don't over do it, GREATEST OWNER OF ALL TIME? He ain't even the greatest owner/GM of all time in Cowboys history.
Jerry Jones is the greatest owner of all time. Period.

His GM skills may need a little work however.

I can forgive Jerry for the almost decade of decay between Jimmy and Bill but it sure is hard to not be mad at him because I believe the Cowboys would've won 1, 2 or maybe even 3 more superbowls in the 90s.

So what could Jerry have done to keep Aikman, Irvins, Moose, Jay's, and Haley's backs from going out?

Could Jimmy's mere presence healed Deions toe or Galloway's knee?

I would like to think that if Jimmy would have hung around we would have won the 94 Superbowl ...... but I dont know if Jimmy could have stopped all the non calls we got in that 49's game .....

as far as after that ........ well we saw how well jimmy faired in the salary cap age without a smart owner .... :D

2. Jimmy Johnson was mainly responsible for the Walker trade and drafting guys like Leon Lett and Tony Tolbert (Seriously, do you think that was Jones or the guy who left Dallas and built the Miami defense through draft picks that is still good to this day?)

Jimmy really accomplished a lot in Miami. He turned a slightly above average team with a good offense and a bad defense into a slightly above average team with a bad offense and a good defense. He did wonders for the running game in Miami as well.

How do you know that Jimmy Johnson was mainly responsible for the Walker trade? I have never heard this before.

Wow! So what! Who hasnt taken a chance on players or made bad decision in business or in life. Why nitpick every move he has done and try to reason why he didnt win 10 SBs in a row. As fans we can all discuss the dumb moves he has made, including the two number 1 draft picks for joey galloway.

But there is not an owner in sports (outside of maybe Mark Cuban) who is more passionate about their team team and willing to do whatever is necessary to win while caring about the fans as much as he does.

He takes high risks for high rewards and wants to win like no other. I choose jerry over ANY owner or ownership family and his legacy will live on more than any other owner in sports history. He is a hall of famer and we will miss him whenever his passes.

i am just happy that he doesnt listen to all the armchairs qb and mediots who critisize his every move. At least he learns from his mistakes and is willing to listen. Just think if we had someone like the Ford family in Detroit or the Browns in Cincy. Snyder in Washington or mule head Al Davis in Oakland.

Guys let's be real. jerry is the best you know and I bet my love for the Cowboys if you can find a better owner.

Who?

You did a great job.........you understand how lucky us fans are to have a owner who wants to win!

Well CC this is what Rivera has to say about JJ and the Cowboys organization.

""The owner (Jerry Jones) is committed to winning," Rivera said. "He has a good attitude toward winning. He is going to do what it takes to win. I think they have good personnel. Also, it's a football community. It's a town that loves its football, like Chicago. There are a lot of opportunities in Dallas."

Thanks Cbz40.....however, I don't need convincing but this is more proof for our FEW negative Zoners out there!

I would say that Coach Rivera has a lot of respect for our owner--who happens to be the very BEST in the NFL......right?

Your are correct! What we have read is that Mr. Jones makes the FINAL decision on ANY signings or trades. Therefore, we know one thing for certain. Mr Jones is a part of EVERY decision made for our team! :)

I always laugh how the Anti Jerry group ALWAYS gives all the credit for EVERY success to someone other than Jerry, yet all the mistakes are Jerry alone LOL

Who started this thread? Heavyhitta? Jerry's a great businessman and a terrible football man. Stick to deals with Nike.

Exactly...

Nothing wrong with being a great businessman and an owner deeply committed to winning but a crap GM...

Sorry, but JJ inserts himself into every decision and he should be held just as accountable to the success or failures of the team as the coach...

I'm asked all the time what I think about JJ...

My answer is that I cannot think of another owner I'd rather have...

But, in the same sentence, I also say that he needs to stay out of the day to day operations...

Football operations ain't his strength...

Stick to Pepsi, Nike and the new stadium...

That owner really showed us once Jimmy's players were aging and declining.

Yeah, no playoff wins in over 10 years, three consecutive 5-11 seasons. yep. that great owner/GM sure showed us he could do it "his" way.

Thank God he at least brought Bill in due to his desperation and we were able to finally get some talent in here and dig our way out of the basement.

We're now at a major crossroads...does the incompetent GM take back full control, or does he hire a good HC and allow the football people to run things? We shall see...but for our sake we better hope it's the latter.

Another person who fails to distinguish between the owner and the GM.

This has been gone over so many times the last 10 years, you'd think people would grasp it by now.

And what did Jimmy do in his new house? And what has he done since?

I believe he spends his weekends talking about Football because he could not handle the salary cap era without an owner and GM that gave him the money and business sense to manage it for him ......

;)

NO other owner LOVES his team as much as Mr. Jones does--period!

1st owner to win 3 Super Bowls in a 4 year span.

Pulled off the biggest trade in NFL history. Hershal for 3 Super Bowls basically.

He is the envy of ALL of his NFL peers because of his business mind.

I just don't understand how ANY TRUE Cowboy fan can say one NEGATIVE thing about Mr. JONES! :star:

Someone explain it to me please............

You weren't foolin' me, JERRY. Who else would call himself Crazy Cowboy?
I can hear the "twang" in your key strokes. Those little one liners you try and bait us with in hopes of us making a decision for you. Nice try.
Ok, we love you and we're just trying to be honest when we talk of the facelift thing you got and hopefully didn't pay for.

ps.
You can stop talking in the third person as "Mr. Jones." :D

Well Jerry is the OWNER/GM.

Being one of the smart guys I thought maybe you could answer one of my questions.

I know what Jimmy did in Dallas while Jerry was watching and trying to learn.
