Nah. News is always relevant. And from the tweet up above about the Jags, my tweet post was correct.

100% agree. I really do not like, that our society lives min to min, if not second to second with twitter.

Meh... That's your right if you choose to do so. The guy is a class act and I wish him nothing but the best. If he signs with Jax he better hope they address that Oline. They allowed 70 sacks last season... No RB will do well behind those turnstyles

Yea I wish him well except when he plays against the Cowboys. I did the same thing with Ware. If a person is a class act and gave their all for the star than I have no ill will toward them. I have problems with players that don't live up to their contract and then go to other teams and trash the boys.

I hope JJ doesnt rely on just the draft........

Maybe they really do think "anybody" can replace him, or a platoon of backs will be okay. The Pats did it....? I hate to see DM go. But money is money and I wish him luck.

This is the one time I would have preferred Jerry pay a little too much to keep a guy.

I don't say it maliciously. He is a classy and good guy. I don't wish him injury or ill will. But it's been a long time since we ha been able to say "the FO is making the right moves" vs Jerry face palm. I don't want to pay him 7-8 million. So if he walks, "thanks for a great year but hope the move looks good for us."

As Jones has said they hope what ever offer he gets that he will come back and talk to the Cowboys. If the money is too high for the Cowboys to match then we part ways if the money is not out of the range Jones has suggested they have in mind then a deal can get done. As for the twitter stuff really not putting much into it.

Go get Ryan Matthews- pick a RB in the 3rd round and we are set.

Set for what? neither will be better than the NFL offensive play of the year. which means we are down grading. Jerry and Stephen Jones are making another big mistake.picking up scrubs won't win you anything.

I keep reading this, but at what point have the Cowboys shown that they think Murray can be replaced by just "anyone".

They haven't, of course. They've merely shown that they're not prepared to pay anything he wants to avoid having to replace him.

In any event -- and this is something else that gets overlooked by those who make the sorts of arguments you're questioning -- the Cowboys don't need to replace Murray. They don't need a back that rushes for 1800 a year. 1200-1400 rushing yards from whoever is the lead back would suffice, provided that he can also protect the passer (truth is, they don't even really need a guy who is a threat catching the ball since they already have more threats than they're able to utilize in the passing game). The guy they need should be available much cheaper than Murray's asking price, given that there are many guys that could give them 1200-1400 yards behind this O-line. And, frankly, I don't know why they wouldn't save a bit at the RB position when they need so much help elsewhere (read "D-line"). Paying top dollar at RB would essentially negate one of the great benefits of having assembled such a dominant O-line.

Waaahh! Waaaahh! Cry me a river DeMarco.

He is not crying he is trying to get a deal. Dez had been franchised has he signed it? Will he be in camp? He is the one getting the money and pouting over it.

I don't think one needs to rip on Dez to defend Murray. The fact is that they're both doing exactly what they should be doing in their position. Turns out that this puts each of them in a position of (minor) conflict with the Cowboys organization, which is also doing exactly what it should be doing.

No Murray. and an unhappy Dez. and this team is in real trouble.this is not a dominating team to begin with.a weak defense, with no Murray here helping keep them off the field. and a pissed off Dez. good luck with that.

Cowboys spoke with DeMarco Murray’s agent Monday; how negotiations are faring

David Moore

The Cowboys have been in contact with DeMarco Murray’s agent within the last 12 hours and intend to speak to him again today. A source with knowledge of the negotiations said that Stephen Jones, the club’s chief operating officer, spoke with Bill Johnson Monday evening. The message remains the same as it did the last time the two men discussed the running back’s future: the Cowboys want the league’s leading rusher to return, but not at the price he’s seeking.

Philadelphia traded LeSean McCoy to Buffalo last week, where the running back quickly agreed to a five-year, $40 million contract with slightly more than $18 million in guaranteed money that can escalate to $26.5 guaranteed.

Murray has rushed for 2,966 yards the last two seasons. McCoy is the only other back close with 2,926 yards. Seattle’s Marshawn Lynch, who agreed to a three-year, $31 million restructure over the weekend that gives him $12 million in guaranteed money, is third at 2,563 yards.

If you’re Murray and his representative you point to McCoy’s contract and argue that helps establish the market value.

The Cowboys will make a much different argument. This team has Tony Romo at quarterback, Dez Bryant at receiver and a young, dominant offensive line that should only get better.

The Bills have Matt Cassel at quarterback, Sammy Watkins at receiver and an offensive line inferior to Dallas. Buffalo hasn’t made the playoffs since 1999.

McCoy’s value isn’t restricted to what happens on the field. He’s more than Buffalo’s best offensive player. He’s the key figure the franchise will use to sell hope to a fan base that has endured the NFL’s longest playoff drought.

Murray has intangibles on his side along with the public support of head coach Jason Garrett, tight end Jason Witten and Romo. But character and camaraderie don’t significantly inflate a contract’s value. The person who signs the check admires and wants those qualities, but can’t really quantify its worth.

The truth is the Cowboys offense is better equipped to succeed without Murray than the Bills are without McCoy. That doesn’t mean the Cowboys should let Murray walk without making a competitive offer. But it does mean McCoy is worth more to Buffalo than Murray is to the Cowboys.

That’s no knock on Murray. It’s a fiscal reality. If Murray wants to be the face of an inferior team in the hopes of helping it rebuild _ something he’s indicated he doesn’t want out of free agency _ he might command that sort of money. But he won’t get it from Dallas.

This will be the most lucrative contract Murray receives in the NFL. Why wouldn’t he want a deal that averages $9 to $10 million with a guarantee that exceeds $20 million? But he can’t get that unless another team makes the offer.

The Cowboys have no interest in bidding against themselves. The club’s nebulous range is clearly below McCoy’s $8 million average.

Educated guess: the Cowboys range is an average of $5 to $6.5 million a season depending on the interest Murray generates. The club might be persuaded to go as high as four years for $28 to $30 million depending on how it’s structured. The guaranteed money won’t come close to McCoy’s contract.

The Cowboys want DeMarco Murray back. But he wants more than the club is willing to pay at the moment and has not solicited another offer to give him leverage.

Both sides proceed from there and everyone waits to see how this plays out.

I just don't think Murray is worth what HE thinks he is. And if taking down all Cowboys related images on his twitter account makes him feel some sort of vindication, then whatever. I could care less. It's not like more money is going to stop him from carrying the football like a loaf of bread, or stop fumbling at the worst of times, or give him break away speed. I say the Cowboys are being smart, and hopefully moving on from a slightly better than average talent that was made to look fairly elite by a very good offensive line.

As for Dez pouting? Lol Okay. This stuff happens all the time. Chalk it up to agents being agents trying to maximize a deal. Dez deserves his money. That kind of talent doesn't come around often. Dez is arguably the best at his position. Murray? Hardly.

I can't route against a guy that really really wants to stay and play for the Cowboys.
Regardless of where Murray ends up and who we replace him with I will find it a sad day when a classy guy like Murray has to leave the Cowboys just to get what Doug Free's back up is being paid.

Our front office may be feeling smart right now. I just hope they don't upset chemistry on the team. I'm sure Dez isn't thrilled with the way his negotiations have went either. I Know and the players know it's a business but this is an emotional game and I hope our teams chemistry doesnt get ripped apart.
We had something special last year.

I don't think one needs to rip Murray. Myself I think Murray does deserve the respect. As Garrett said it was Murray who set the tone for the team, not Dez. yet fans act as if he did little. He was 40% of the entire offense more than any player on this team.
