On his twitter he is pretty much letting everyone know a decision has been made & he's signing elsewhere.. No news as to where he is headed, but it's pretty telling that his days are over in Dallas.

Did he actually SAY that or are you saying that? oh man I'm getting tired of all this "pretty much" and "it is believed" malarchy. Just actually do something already.
:rolleyes::mad:

Yeah because getting 13m vs the 35m guaranteed you're worth is something to celebrate.

He got franchised because they could not come to an agreement but it is still 13 million nothing to sneeze at. How many jobs out there pay 13 mill a year? No too damn many. Instead of acting like a man as others have he want to make threats? I like Dez but he has some growing up to do. He lets his emotions get the better of him.

LeSean McCoy. LeVeon Bell. Marshawn Lynch. Adrian Peterson. There's four right there. So with the help of our O line, Murray, in my opinion, would be fifth out of the top five running backs in the NFL.

As for Dez, without him, we wouldn't have gone as far as we did. No doubt 12-4 wouldn't have happened. Game changer.

Murray = Product of the O line.

Lesean McCoy is a dancer more than a RB. I don't see him grinding out 1800 yards on the cowboys last year. Murray is much more physical than McCoy. Peterson is hard to really know right now because of his absence and age. Leveon Bell cant stop getting himself in trouble and is hardly worth mentioning as the best back in the game.
Even if you have Murray fifth.....McCoy. Lynch, Peterson all have contracts much higher than Murray is probably being offered.

Was Murray a product of the offensive line when he averaged such high YPC in his previous seasons?

It is interesting that the NFL has never published a "formula". At times it seems arbitrary when they do award third round choices.

Apparently, it's a combo of the following:
  • Salary that the player was signed to - if the player ends up one of the highest paid in the league at the position, it will increase the draft pick value.
  • Playing time.
  • Post-season honors - Pro Bowl or All-Pro recognition.
  • The team losing said player not signing another player of comparable salary.
Houston got a third when Mario Williams went to Buffalo. Kansas City actually got a third when the Cowboys signed Brandon Carr. Tennessee got a third when Courtland Finnegan signed with Miami. Pittsburgh got a third when Mike Wallace went to Miami, Green Bay when Greg Jennings went to Minnesota, Baltimore when Paul Kruger went to Cleveland and San Francisco when Dashon Goldson went to Tampa Bay.

Doesn't seem very clear cut, but that's what I could figure out.

.

People can't seem to understand how one compliments the other. Did the line make Emmitt or did Emmitt make the line?
Or were they both the right pieces at the time? It would be pure stupidity to think the line didn't help Murray, same as the other way around.
Ask the players and that's what they will tell you

Demarco Murray is an above average running back who, up until this year, didn't appear in every game due to injury. He is 27 years old and this is his last chance to get life changing money. He is going to take it and would be a fool if he didnt.

The contract he wants would be an awful deal for the Cowboys to get into and I am really happy that it appears we are not going to do it. After the last couple of years, I can't tell you how happy it makes me that Jerry Jones seems to have changed when it comes to building a football team. Gone are the days of shelling out massive guaranteed money deals to players that have no hope of fulfilling their ends of the deal. We have built an offensive line that will dominate for a decade and seem to finally be getting right with the salary cap.

Goodluck to you Demarco. This is a business and in just 5 short hours, you'll be set for life.

We have plenty of options at the Running Back spot to explore. We'll be ok.

It is still mysterious. Take the 49ers a few years ago. They lost Goldson, Ginn, Jean Francois, Sopoaga and Walker. They still signed Dorsey, Skuta, Dahl and Dawson.

While they lost more than they gained, I did not see Pro Bowls and a bunch of success from their five losses to justify a third.

ESPN Dallas' Todd Archer reports the Cowboys had discussions with free agent DeMarco Murray last night.
Archer is unaware of the "tenor" of talks, but can confirm Cowboys VP Stephen Jones at least spoke to Murray. We suspect the "tenor" wasn't good, as Murray has since removed the Cowboys' logo from his Twitter account. On the other hand, the fact that Jones reached out is a sign Dallas maintains interest.

I agree - it's nebulous. Goldson and Jean-Francois were both starters, and none of the Niners signees were starters, save for Dawson, but he's a kicker.

Good points. I believe without a good offensive line you have nothing. No running game, no pass game, no success. However this doesn't mean that the players behind this line are just interchangeable pieces. Sure Murray would gain more yards next year in Dallas than in Jacksonville due to the line. But that doesn't mean Joseph Randle or Gurley or whoever you plug in behind this line would be as productive as Murray. It doesn't mean this person would get you the important first down when you need it. It doesn't mean this back will have what it takes to keep running over defenders into the 4th quarter when everyone knows you are going to be running the ball.

Its an interesting topic and one that we cant really ever know....Murray understands this and he doesn't want to go anywhere else. Plus he seems to really love the Cowboys and the life he has created in Dallas.

I am intrigued by the idea of a guy with home run ability like Adrian Peterson playing for the Cowboys. But at the same time I have a certain level of appreciation for what Murray brings to the team. I like being able to route for a group of good guys.

It seems more like you are trying to convince people than to report any meaningful information.

I told you dude, the media has terrible sources & can't get to the real story, so they have to reach for stuff like this. The twitter fiasco has been mentioned by the top sports websites & most reporters. I agree that it's sad that this is what it has come to.

If the Jags are the only true competition, the Cowboys have Murray over a barrel. Going to the Cowboys vs. the Jags is at worth at LEAST $2 million/year, and I'm not joking. The Jags are overpaying for really mediocre players. They have no choice because NO ONE is going to Jacksonville unless they make offers that are ridiculous in comparison. Translation: the Jags are going to be perennial losers for a long time. Murray wants to win, he wants to be high profile.

And there is always the Adrian Peterson factor, Murray is worried about that. I think one of three teams is in play - the Cowboys, Eagles and Cards. I really have no idea if the Eagles or Cards are interested but those would be landing spots that could sway Murray.
