Murray is a good RB....often hurt... but having an excellent year so far. One excellent year with 3 awesome first round OLmen blocking does not mean break the bank to sign him. If you sign Murray to a big contract....who do let go at the end of the season...Melton, Dez, Carr, Selvie....do you want to bring a big time pass rusher? tough choice... How much is Murray worth...?

Here is the bottom line....you can't work the man like a mule...then NOT pay him. If so many other RBs can run behind this OL....then how come there are other RBs on this team collecting a paycheck that are NOT earning a dime of their money? Heck Escobar probably makes more than Murray! I do not want to overypay....but your gameplan indicates he is the most important player on this team....so you should pay him accordingly. Personally I think they work him too much. And that could be why Jerry suggested last week that they need to work Murray a little less...because they are not interested in a 7m/year RB. I think he is better suited having his carries reduced to around 20 a game...and having those 20 carries be as explosive in December as they are in October. So Garrett and the front office need to get on the same page regarding his worth.

The OL are the MVP's of this offense. Nothing else works remotely without them.

Let me see if I understand this...... people are seriously saying 4 mill a year is somehow disrespectful? Like Demarco can't feed his family with that. This thinking is the foundation of what is wrong with this country. Its not enough to be paid well..... you have to be paid the "most".

I like Demarco but his injury history is against him. $6 mil a year max and only a 4 year deal.

Terrible offer, Jerry (and some people here) need to realize that he's one of the best backs in football I wouldn't offer him anything lower that 4yr 28 mil you don't get one of the best RBs in the league on your team for 4yr 16 mil and I hope Jerry doesn't get talked into this thing of "any RB can do what he's doing"

He's running hard but with those injuries and his new found fumbling problem. I think it's a good starting point

Marshawn Lynch is in the 3rd year of a 4 year/30 million dollar contract, 17 million of which is guaranteed. The Boys will probably have to get at least into that neighborhood to sign DeMarco, IMO.

Hey, Perfect story line for a movie. The plot thickens when Murrays self made agent has to deliver the news to Murray to either stay healthy and play out the contract or to accept the lowball offer. Murray and his pregnant wife decide to stick with his befriended agent and wait out the season while risking his health and career. As the season rolls on the Cowboys are in the playoff race and playing the cardinals in AZ. The
Game comes down to the final seconds when Murray makes a spectacular run and is hit in the knee while crossing the goal line to win the game putting the Cowboys in the playoffs. Murray is down and everyone is quiet when he jumps up, spins around on his head then runs to the luxury box and grabs the Cowboys owner gm by the collar and says "Jerry show me the money!!" Hmmmm. This could be a real blockbuster.

Here's how negotiations work.. Jerry offers 4/16 mil. Murrays agent says 5/30 mil. They'll meet in the middle. However 4/16 is plenty good offer.

That's exactly the kind of deal he'd probably sign and needs to be offered.

I have said all along they should offer him 4/$20, so this offer doesn't surprise me...and, JJ didn't leak the amount, Murrays side did...murray is really good behind this line and when healthy...he HAS to take into consideration that he hasn't played a full season yet...

Running backs are a dime a dozen. Gone are the days of overpaying for them. Put any one behind that line and they will get the job done. I would give him 6M a year but no more.

I think the offer was a good way to get the ball rolling. Honestly, I wouldn't even offer him that if he doesn't start to show that he can hold onto the ball.

Murray may be carrying the bacon, but he isn't going to do this behind most other OLs. I think the offer will go up, but I don't have an issue with it. He won't have this success elsewhere and should want to stay here above all. $4 million per year is nothing to sneeze at. It's 16 times more than Roger Staubach ever made here for a season and look what he turned his salary into.

Yes and 100 times my salary. LOL.

Man, there's just no winning. Either we're overpaying or we're not paying enough. I think this is a wise move in Jerry Land. Demarco Murray has rushed for 327 yards BEFORE CONTACT this year. Those are some Glory Day, Emmit Smith lanes to run through. It's been argued forever (and even Emmit in his HOF speech gave props where props are due) that the success of Emmit was heavily on one of the greatest OL's ever assembled. No one is saying Emmit wasn't great on his own. No one is saying Demarco isn't great on his own. I hope we get to keep Murray here but, not at the expense of repeating history. We've been mediocre in Dallas for a variety of reasons and one of the biggest is breaking the bank far too often and ruining the future of your team. This is how you end up with a bunch of beat up, aging, has been players and no cap space to spread around for creating stability throughout your football team. I believe we'll get him signed one way or another but, I am very happy to see we didn't throw AP money at him up front.

He's just not worth more than 5 million a year. The team has too many holes to be breaking the bank for a RB.

No ok running backs are a dime a dozen but if Jerry decides he's gonna settle for ok at that position prepare to see our run game suffer. Not every back can come in and play to the level this guy does. You can't pick any back out the draft and have him set a single game rushing record, and you won't find one to to go 100 yards five straight times to start the season.
