Right, so an awful lot of you have seen that I would like to see Garrett sacked as head coach of this team. Seemingly lovely chap and all, but I think that time has come. However, in order to sack someone, you must have a replacement in mind, or, in my case, 5. So, who all would I like? Well, I shall try to keep it reasonable because, let's face it, we're probably not getting Coach Belichick. I'm going to go outside the organization for the most part.

1. My top pick would probably be Mike Shanahan. Yes, I know, he's been away from coaching for a while, but I think that the WCO is a very good system. I also happen to think that the WCO fits our offence really well if it were to be tried. Mike Shanahan is a staunch WCO-style coach. Obviously, the big question is, would he work for Jerry? Then again, he did work for Snyder, so it's possible.

2. David Shaw - Let's look into the college levels and use a chap that has done very well in succeeding a WCO-style coach in Jim Harbaugh. His record is 75-22, and he's got a good Bowl Game record. He's another offencive minded coach, and he seems to use a version of the WCO, which I like.

3. Gary Patterson - Let's stay within the backyard of the Cowboys, and let's go with this chap. He's heavily underrated, and I think it's high time that he gets a title that's fitting for how well he's done at the college level. Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys. I think his record speaks for itself. Plus, he's defencive minded which I also wouldn't mind. I'd let him choose his OC, of course, but hopefully it'd be a WCO-style coach. Plus, with our defence starting to turn a corner, a defencive minded HC might be what it needs. Maybe he can talk Norv Turner into returning as OC for us?

4. Chris Peterson - Come now, did you really think I'd pile a list of this without mentioning this chap? This chap did very well as the coach of Boise State (which is a bit of a Cowboys pipeline, isn't it?). Also, he's done very well with Washington piling up a record of 38-18 overall. Rather impressive, isn't it? This would be a chap I'd probably have top of the list but for the other three chaps of course.

5. Now for a name you lot probably haven't heard of, but one that I've come to like the look of. That chap would be Troy Calhoun. He's currently the HC of Air Force. Here's his link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troy_Calhoun. He's got a record of 83-61 while coaching at Air Force, where he's been since 2007. He doesn' get a lot of recognition, but he does well for being at a military school. I think he could bring some much needed discipline to this team, as well as using the WCO mentality that he learned from Mike Shanahan.

Bonus:

6. Mike Smith - Yes, yes, I know he looks like Steve Martin. However, I think he's got a very good track-record of being a defencive minded DC. Again, similar to Patterson, we could certainly use a defencive-minded DC to help get our defence to the next level. Additionally, I would hope that he would bring a WCO-minded OC.

What do you lot think? Any of these of interest to you? Anyone else that you'd like to add to the list? I look forward to what you all have to say.

If you want to win games you have to be a lobbyist. That means, to be outright crisp, you need to be corrupt.

If you are hire Belichick and pay Mara alot of money.

Hahahahhaahaha Gary Pattterson thing is hilarious. Dude l, do you know anything about Gary Patterson? Like anything at all?

I do. And he sure as hell isnt going the kind of guy that works with people like the Jones family. And I’ve never seen a 4-2-5 defense in the nfl. Come on bro

Not terribly. I know his track record is good, but I thought it was worth a go. I mean, like I said, if I'm going to complain about something, I ought to try and provide my solutions. May not be good, but worth a go.

1. Josh McDaniels (NE OC). He’s the top coordinator right now for ascending, and even if he has some deal with Belichick, there’s No harm in asking

2. Jim Schwartz (PHI DC). He’ll bring a mentality Dallas hasn’t had since Parcells. Glitz out the window. Defensive minded 4-3 specialist. You’ll never get shorted on defensive talent as long as he’s influencing the moves.

3. John DeFillipo (MINN OC). Exactly who you want if you’re taking a qb high in next year’s draft. Former QB coach, WCO, RPO, all those buzz words fit his style.

4. Adam Gase (MIA HC). I don’t think he’ll last the season down there. Genuinely one of a kind offensive mind, he drew the short end of the stick with Miami’s lack of talent, but he still got them to the playoffs with Tannehill in the AFC East. I think he’d be a good fit in Dallas.

5. Todd Wash (JAX DC). He was the D-line coach in Seattle and came over with Gus Bradley for the same position in JAX. Bradley got fired, but Marrone was so impressed with awash he was promoted to DC and the rest is history. Young non-retread who teaches fundamentals and no BS schemes.

Somehow, someway you came up with a list worse than the OP’s. You’re off the hook Fur guy, look at this one....

I do like Schwartz, and, as stated, I nearly put him on this list. He'd be excellent, same with DeFillipo.

Gase is just in a bad situation. He’s a great OC. Even Belichick was bad in Cleveland, Pete Caroll was bad in NYJ, John Fox was bad in Chicago after making the playoffs umpteen times before that. Circumstances mean a lot, and i think Gase can really open up the Cowboys offense.

Why do you think McDaniels is a scumbag?

Gase would be another good choice.

There will never be a HC in Dallas that has a spine as long as Jerry is still breathing.

I dunno, it depends on what Jerry decides to do. As someone said previously, this is probably his last coaching change, if he makes one. So, I'd presume he'd want to do it the right way. We'll see what he decides to do and how serious he is about that embarrassing check.

That's fine. Just a bit of throwing names out there. I always think that if I'm going to complain about something, then I should provide a solution. I think JG is the problem, so I think those are the solutions to the problem. Who are your solutions?
The bigger problem is Jerry, so how about a few GMs?

Haha. I'd like to do that, but I don't have control over that, so I decided to have a look at coaches. If Jerry's serious about that "embarrassing" check, then we should have a good coach, shouldn't we?

As if Shanahan wants another RG3 to deal with. lol

Well, maybe there's a college QB that he'd like to be able to use his WCO with then. I mean, we ARE going to be talking about after the season, so there will be plenty of time for him to decide what quarterback he wants.

I don't see Gase being fired, especially during the season.
1. He made the playoffs with T-Hill missing 3 games in 16
2. Missed the postseason after losing T-hill for the year
3. Current year.

Losing Landry wasn't that big of a deal, especially bringing in Wilson and Danny.
Made it one year, missed it one year. Not like it's year 4 and he has never come close to the playoffs.

He has his QB, a better O-line and a good RB in Drake. Defense will suck some games, but that's nothing new for the Phins.

Sadly, I could see that. Shows the kind of coach he is to be able to do all that within the AFC East. And he's taken down Belichick a few times to boot.

4 of the 5 are college coaches and I don't see that happening and Mike Smith was fired because of his sideline management of the team, basically in the 4Q, so he might be even worse than what we have.

I don't see Garrett getting canned but if he was, I think it would be a NFL coordinator that would get the job. That seems to be the path but that doesn't seem to work any better, just as many of those guys fail and head back to coordinating.\

And this HC job has a very unusual list of requirements.

Nick Saban wouldn't be able to recruit and load this team with 5 star blue chip recruits.

Payton would adjust his style to fit Dak.

Regardless...

If we have Sean Payton then we need to build the team around Sean Payton and not Dak Prescott.
MAybe if Brees hangs it up this season and NO is left looking for the next franchise QB.

I would be ecstatic with Peterson.

I love Shaw as a coach, but my knock on him is the same as Harbaugh and similar to Garrett. These are coaches who run very sedate, conservative offenses that rely heavily on superior talent in the trenches to win games. I know that seems to fit the mold of our roster, but I don't think it's a recipe for success in the NFL anymore. Defenses have gotten too big and too fast. They can't just be mauled anymore, you have to spread them out and out-scheme them.

Give me Chris Peterson at HC (or OC with Richards as HC) and go get Justin Herbert and I'll buy season tickets to that show!
