I believe in Chris Peterson a lot. Saying that, I don't see an upside for him here so highly doubtful. The only "high profile" college coach I see willing to risk it is Urban Myer. Both C. Kelly and P. Carroll made the jump amid school controversy, which is where Myer is at right now. That's why I suggest coaches like Fitzgerald and Herman, coaches with good track records but not as recognized as a Shaw or Peterson

Lincoln Riley. He’s young, and such an offensive genius that NFL coaches are going to him for consulting. And NFL offenses are becoming more and more college like.

I can definitely see him getting a job as an OC. I don't think he's ready for a jump to HC tho. I'd love for Richards to take over and bring in someone like Riley as his OC.

All these coaches will be old and retired long before Jerry fires Garrett.

Not terribly. I know his track record is good, but I thought it was worth a go. I mean, like I said, if I'm going to complain about something, I ought to try and provide my solutions. May not be good, but worth a go.

I hear ya. I love Patterson but he couldn’t coach nfl players. He likes coaching kids and making them men. Grown men wouldn’t put up with Patterson though, saying that in the most respectful way to Patterson.

He’s not leaving a top 5 college job to be an OC. Somebody will hire him as HC, probably Cleveland.

1. Lincoln Riley

2. Kris Richard

3. Sean Payton (I think he'd make the jump to live here where his kids are.)

I really want Mike Zimmer, but he's become the new "Bud Grant" up there, and he's not going anywhere.

You're probably right, and I think he'd be better than Garret, but I'm not sure he's ready to be HC of the Dallas Cowboys just yet. That said, I would be behind that move 100%. It would kill the teasip Cowboys fans! Haha

I'd probably have to mark this thread as an idea, but bad execution haha.

I like the thread. It’s fun to hear and imagine the ideas. I personally don’t want a gimmicky coach. I still believe if your run game is good enough to create one on one on the outside and you have a good qb and a good wr’s, football can still be played consistently well the way we won 3 Super Bowls in the 90’s.

I think we have a good defense.
A good O-Line
Good RB
Bad receivers (by choice)
Terrible qb

Seems like all we do around here is fire everybody besides the guy that is the real problem. And so it continues

I hear you. Seems like Dallas always goes for the safe hire. I’m ready for something outside of the box. The last risky hire we made was Jimmy.

Fair enough, but David Shaw might be different. He's got experience as an NFL coach (not HC, but experience nonetheless), and he's done fairly well at Stanford. I sort of knew that Mike Shanahan would draw a lot of "huhs?". As for the Air Force chap that I mentioned, I know not a lot of people know of him, but I think he'd be a good HC. Maybe he'd be better as an OC though.

I agree with you for the most part. The key is, if you noticed, most of the coaches I've gone with are either from the Bill Walsh tree or are coaches connected to those coaches. The reason is because I think that a proper WCO with the ability to let the QB run to freeze defences would be the most effective style of coach for what we have on our team. I think our offence (not sure with/without Dak, but that can be determined by the coach) would thrive under that style. I think the problem that Garrett has is that he's running an offence that doesn't fit the style of this offence, at least not for 2018.

1. Sean Payton. Give up a pick and pay the man.
2. Lincoln Riley. He'd be a great fit if you can retain Kris Richard.
3. Kris Richard. If you go this route perhaps steal the North Texas coach as OC.
4. Harbaugh. If he will lure a young OC.
5. David Shaw also with a young innovative OC.

I want to be ahead of curve on offense and either find out if Dak can operate in that or be prepared for a drafted kid.

I'd especially be happy if that's who Richard (assuming he becomes HC) chooses to be his OC.

Oh, that's a good idea. He does do a good job. I would like Payton, but not sure Jerry would.
