People like to be led to conclusions, whether they are foolish or not is of little consequence.
Not as much as others feel compelled to jump to the defense of the indefensible as long as it has a star on it somewhere.

The only appropriate response here is "Miles is a great guy and had a great game. I'm happy for him. He stepped up big when we needed somebody to."

Not, "The Chiefs suck. Somebody was gonna have a big day like I told Gurode, and the only reason it wasn't me is because I wasn't out there."

Spin it anyway you want, this is pure jealousy and pettiness on the part of Roy Williams. He's an underachieving, lazy football player. He had that reputation and everyone tried to pass it off as being caused by the losing environment in Detroit, but as exemplified by his publicly ripping Garrett, RW was a big part of what was wrong in Detroit, and a big part of what's wrong in Dallas.

.
You put that in quotes. Is that exactly what he said?

1) I don't think Roy was being jealous or meant any harm.

2) Roy should practice what he preaches about consistency. The only consistency I've seen from Roy is that he can block well for the running game........

To me it just sounds like RW is trying to keep Austin feet on the ground. We have seen Austin have big games then disappear for the remainder of the season. This past game should be a big confidence builder for Austin but like a loss you put this behind you and focus your thoughts on Atlanta and the players in that secondary you will face.

As Big Dog would say, "winner, winner chicken dinner".

If Austin wants to join the ranks of the top WR then you enjoy the moment then move on. Plenty of time to look back when you’re done playing. In the meantime get yourself physically and mentally prepared for the next game. I'm excited to see if Austin can be that guy who this team can depend on consistently.

Very true. The great ones don't marvel in their greatness, they start preparing for the next game basically when the final whistle blows.

In my opinion, Miles has all of the tools to be a top 5 WR in the league. However, the only thing he is lacking is consistency. The way he was pushing up the field on the Harvey and the way the CB was digging hard against Miles ability to go past him told me all I need to know about Miles's ability. If he can put it together consistently he will be a force that opposing DCs will have to deal with, which should open up the field for Red to exploit.

I agree. I was really impressed how Austin was coming back for the ball. Even on the last play in OT Austin came out of the break then was moving towards the ball not waiting for it to get to him which would allow the CB the opportunity to knock it away. Because he moves up to the ball he made the catch and because the CB was being aggressive trying to knock the ball down he was no longer in a position to make the tackle.

Hell alot of fans already had him there to begin with. RW just needs to get back out on the field and help contribute to this team

"The thing I say about any player in this league is consistency," Williams said. "You have to be consistent. That was the game of his life. He's going to cherish that forever. Everybody is going to remember it. That record is going to be hard to be broke. I'm shooting for it, but it's going to be hard to be broke. But you just have to be a consistent football player in this league."

This is a good one coming from one a player who isn't exactly a model of consistency himself.

Now this is football talk! That slight shift in the DB's body weight made it nearly impossible for him to make the tackle especially with a large WR such as Miles. I also like the fact that Miles cut his teeth in the NFL in the return game, this contributes greatly to his ability to break tackles and his ability to be absolutely fearless in his routes. I am just glad that he wasn't ran out of town when many here declared him a bust.;)

You're right, even before the trade some Cowboys fans had him there, but it seems like a lot more now, and ya, just contribute and as Michael Irvin has said 1000 times on his show, STOP giving the media ammunition.

Roy is coming off as petulant and ungracious here - the sooner we can his malcontent *** the better.

I don't take it that way, he is telling the truth. Austin had ONE great game so far......now go out and show he can be consistent.
