The only appropriate response here is "Miles is a great guy and had a great game. I'm happy for him. He stepped up big when we needed somebody to."

Not, "The Chiefs suck. Somebody was gonna have a big day like I told Gurode, and the only reason it wasn't me is because I wasn't out there."

You put that in quotes. Is that exactly what he said?

No, obviously it isn't his exact words.

There have been times when I wished drinking on the job was a permissible company policy. This is one of those times. :(

I can't believe some of the B.S. I'm reading... Roy Williams made those comments BEFORE the team left for K.C. Roy's obviously a bit disappointed that he couldn't play but by no means did I think he was jealous of Miles Austin.

:laugh2:

No he didn't.

Absolutely the response I would expect from fans.

Roy Williams utters the exact thing any coach would say. You must be consistent.

In other words, let's see you be special an entire season. You can't beat up a bad defensive team once and make your career off that.

Else Billy Davis would be in the ring of honor.

Suddenly it is Roy's fault for stating the obvious.

The hypocracy of fans these days is amazing. Now if that was Romo saying those things, it would be carved under his bust on Mt. Rusmore.

The vilification continues.

Point is, like Michael Irvin has been saying, don't give ammunition. Right now Roy is new here and has absolutely ZERO skins on the wall. Why give the media anything? I know he's a smart kid, you can tell when he talks, but he should wise up. Why bring things on yourself? You should know how the local medis is by now. Just because somethings true do you need to open your mouth?

Do you tell your wife's mom how fat she is?

I'm not married, but I might tell the hubby to mention to his mom that she probably shouldn't wear that item of clothes anymore.

Poor ol' Roy should have taken a play out of the "TC's interviews" playbook, .. he always compliments MB3 & FJ.

I can hear TC now, "Man, that dude got wheels, you know, he did what he had to do, .. he got in the game and helped the team win. I love watchin' him do his thing, you know. He got his chance and he was ready. That's whachu gotta do."

Just imagine if Romo would have seen Austin open in the EZ on the 4th down play in Denver, .. his reputation would be skyrocketing even more than it is now.

Romo seriously needs to start looking for AM early and often.

Hubby would act like he didn't hear you WG. He's not telling Mom.

I've been married 34 yrs, and what my in-laws wear remains "not my business". (part of why it has lasted this long)

While not an exact quote, you're acting like it was taken way out of context and I'm not so sure it was.

There isn't any reason to take anything Williams stated out of context.

What a stupid article in the first place? Is Roy Williams jealous is the only thing they could come up with?

What a stupid post. Did you even read the article, or watch the video?

It's not hard to come to that conclusion. I'm not saying its right or wrong. But its not a stretch by any means to see that there may be some jealousy in the ever thin-skinned Roy Williams.

Only if your predisposed to it. From his actual words, I don't see a hint of jealousy. In fact, I see two clear compliments and an obvious truth.

Claims of jealousy by implicating it was a fluke was simply initiated by the author.

I agree.

I just now watched the video, and I must say first that I am not really a fan of RW fully just yet, .. but I didn't think he said anything inappropriate or took jabs at MA at all.

Had I not been looking for something I would not have even went there at all.

But that's just me.

I can;t believe the spin they are putting on this. Even more surprising is the fact that people are apparently (judging by responses) buying it.

Oh wait....no I'm not.

What I read was that Williams doesn't want the annointing oil to come out too fast. Only a few fans on this board think Austin is ready to takle over the #1 or #2 spot. Williams is right, he does need to be consistent. Saying that, if he is more consistent than Williams then start him. Look what happen when we pulled out the annointing oil after 1 1/2 seaons for Romo....

Is it just me or did i see nothing to indicate Roy was "jealous" of Miles performance? Talk about spinning something the way you want it to sound. One thing i will say though is Roy needs to follow his own advice.

It's not just you. The main criticism being thrown at Williams is that he mentioned consistency in the same discussion as Austin; and he did so without any negative inflection in his voice.

Austin's performance was atypical of a wide receiver against any defense. Heck, he beat Hayes 30+ year, single game receiving record by a couple of yards. No receiver is going to consistently have 150 yard, 200 yard, etc. games.

It's completely (literally) unrealistic. What Williams stated was realistic, but he's being ridiculed for saying the obvious without any apparent falsehood intended. Incredible.

Then why couldn't he just say something positive about Austin's performance? Why demean it or give the impression that you're demeaning it by pointoing to the Chiefs D and your prediction with Gourode?

He was asked the same question twice, in essence, does Austin's performance open things up for the offense. Was that a hard question? Couldn't he just say that having another weapon that the D has to key on helps everyone on O?

But more telling was the question RW was asked regarding whether Austin's performance elevates Austin in the "pecking order," or something to that effect and he came out with the "consistency" line. That was a veiled shot at Austin and I think it's the height of irony that RW uses that word since he's been everything but.
