Myth of no open receivers

I could post gifs, but I'm tired of this already.

There was another play where Beasley split the two defenders and was wide open streaking to the endzone. That was a walk in TD that Romo would have cashed in on.

I love Dak. Couldn't be more happy we have him on the team. But the guy had one of the worst games I've ever seen. And he's been missing open receivers all year long. It's not just this game. He's a rookie. It's expected.

But I want a Super Bowl, not growing pains.

That was on the 15 yarder to TWill right before the Bailey miss. I remember thinking the same thing. Dak is just not going to take any chances whatsoever.

Some of those circled receivers are not open, which would become apparent as soon as the ball was headed their way, and the guys on the backside when he's being forced to roll the other direction bring football acumen (of the circler) into question.

Did Dak make some mistakes? I think we all know that. But I don't think half-assed analysis to tear the kid down for having the audacity to let an eleven game losing streak end accomplishes anything positive. Guess what? None of us were entitled to never see the Cowboys lose again. Put the big boy pants on and deal with a loss without ripping players you loved not so long ago.

As for Romo? No one here knows what he is now. We know what he was two years ago. If the team decides to play him, cool. If they don't that's cool too.

Agreed. It also assumes Dak has the vantage of looking at the field from 70 feet in the air (or wherever the camera is), which we know he doesn't. I definitely think he missed some throws and forced others needlessly.

It's not a myth. I posted several tweets here from Sturm who reviewed the film. Not a single tweet indicated anything positive in terms of our WRs getting separation.

Is Sturm now not a reputable source? I recall a number of people in game night chat pointing to the "all 22" as the holy grail. Is that no longer reputable?

Sturm opinion is worth as much as anyone else who watches football. Go read @cianef and you'll see the exact opposite.

I'm glad you speak for Garrett.
Someone has to do it. He has his hands full with trying to fix some of the issues that have been shunting Dak's growth as a starting QB the last few weeks, plus figuring out how to not finish the regular season playing a Wildcard game on the road.

Oh, please! Film might not lie but snapshots can. Some of these pictures he actually DOES throw to the circled receiver. On some pics Dak is looking the other way ... or rolling away ... or would require throwing back across the field. Some show a receivers temporarily open as he runs from one defender to another. Your pictures do so that if we had run more stop routes or curls would may have had more success. Just don't use these pictures to judge Dak. Watch the film.

I agree some of those pictures show open wrs but some are also misleading. The ball doesnt just magically move from Daks hand to the wr, when you have a db on either side that cushion can disapear real fast. If its 3rd and 12 you bet they will be open 6 yards out too. I have no doubt he missed some but those pictures do not tell the entire story. Im not one of those against Romo or Dak for that matter. I want to win.

holy crap. THIS

We have a fantastic opportunity to do something great here. Now is not the time for a rookie to learn from mistakes or gain experience, now is the time to go for it all.

That rookie was a huge part of that 'fantastic opportunity to do something great.'

That's what I was saying. There were open receivers in that game and most of you were defending Dak that the receivers were not creating separation. I don't know why Dak doesn't see them and is scared to throw into tight windows. He has to let go and gunsling. Romo would have abused that defense, no way we would have lost with him in there.

Cowboyszone has turned into a depressing group of pressimistic whiners.

Well we are 11-2 what did you expect lol. I think we have all been biten before and are scared to death of watching this season slip away. We have been talking alot of smack this year ya know?

Exactly that's why coaches don't spend hours every week grading players with all 22 because they saw it all on game day.
Apparently the "all 22" supported exactly what I saw (as expected). Wow. Imagine that.

Yep, that was a play Dak would like back. There is a couple of pictures posted that Dak missed someone or made a bad pass. But you can almost count on one hand the number of times that occured in the game. Dak was the least of our issues in the loss.
There are very few times you can lay a loss on a single player. This was one of them.

What do you mean apparently?

As in, you didn't see the All 22?

I haven't. So I'm not going to pretend my opinion is based on the All 22. I have seen the stills that theo posted, however....
