I think with some of these guys, they turn into something different as they age and try other interests. Rogan used to crack me up as the repair guy on that old sitcom Newsradio, and I enjoyed his early standup. I think now he just focuses on cigars and joints, podcast interviews of anything that interests him, and watching professional fighting. Nice life. LOLJoe Rogan
I’ve seen Trevor Noah live twice on stand-up. He is much more of a storyteller than people are used to but I enjoyed both shows. He is a genius at accents and voices. He can change to anyone in those stories. I like his international view on life. Sometimes the same stuff gets old.Trevor Noah
You’re not alone. Great movie character actor and interview personality, but as a stand-up…. I’ve tried, I really have. Chapelle and others talk him up in their stories but I find I rarely enjoy the ’mega rock star’ comedians. The guys like Kevin Hart, Dane Cook, who were selling out 30,000 stadiums. I’m not trying to be ‘too cool for school’ or anything, I just think it loses something.Im a fan of Kevin Hart in screen, but Ive never been a fan of his standup
I just saw him on the Daily Show, and he never made me laugh. Just one sided snark.I’ve seen Trevor Noah live twice on stand-up. His bit on the invention of golf made me laugh, but in general he was a far better actor than comedian.AMEN
Especially #2
I'd add Kathleen Madigan
You're going to get drilled for this but I agree
I'm going to get drilled for this but I'll say Robin Williams. He just always seemed so wound up I could barely understand what he was saying
Honestly I always thought Robin Williams was a far better actor than comedian, personally
Oh, I thought you wanted to talk about comics some people actually think are funny. I don't know anyone who thinks Pauly Shore is funny. He came into Hooters one time when I was there, and he's wearing baggy sweats, looking like a homeless guy, and about 30 pounds heavier than he did when he was somewhat famous. He was hitting on one of the girls, trying to get her to move out to California (IIRC) with him. She says, "I don't even know who you are!" After he left, I explained to her who he used to be, and she just laughed.Pauly Shore
Dane Cook is absolutely horrible. I don't know how he ever became famous. You’re not alone. Great movie character actor and interview personality, but as a stand-up…. I’ve tried, I really have. His stream of conscience was off the charts. He made references that were too deep for some. Kinda like why some hated Dennis Miller in the booth. He was too smart for your average football fan. They’d prefer someone like Gronk. His bit on the invention of golf made me laugh, but in general he was a far better actor than comedian.
Miller I agree with, but a lot of Robin Williams's stuff sounded more cerebral than it actually was, because he flew through it, changing the subject every 2 or 3 sentences. I saw him on Whose Line Is It Anyway once, and I was expecting him to blow the roof off, but he was surprisingly bland. Don't get me wrong, I liked him. I just thought he was very hit or miss. Live from the Met was a great performance. His stream of conscience was off the charts. He made references that were too deep for some. Kinda like why some hated Dennis Miller in the booth. You got that right, he is horrible. Worse than Amy Schumer or Sarah Silverman lol.Dane Cook is absolutely horrible. I don't know how he ever became famous.

I remember one stand up in which he was on a stage in the middle of the audience, like a boxing ring, and part of his act was over the top sobbing that went on way the hell too long. I have to say, I didn't hate him as an actor in Good Luck Chuck, though there are many people who could've done better. You got that right, he is horrible. Worse than Amy Schumer or Sarah Silverman lol.
I was just telling someone (a former poster from the old site, if you remember the guy whose wife cheated on him) yesterday, during the game about when Miller was commentating with Al Michaels, and there was a camera angle Miller referred to as the "Crotch Cam".I enjoyed Dennis Miller.
I have heard the same, probably why you don't hear much from him anymore.Carlos Mencia - Never understood how people enjoyed him. I thought he was extremely unfunny. Plus I've read several accusations that he was a joke stealer. Still didn't help his set.
I like his podcast, but I’ve tried his stand up a couple of times and just don’t think he’s funny.I think with some of these guys, they turn into something different as they age and try other interests. Can't disagree--that golf bit was classic. No argument there. His bit on the invention of golf made me laugh, but in general he was a far better actor than comedian.
