Awuzie
Lewis
Jones/Brown working slot/nickel interchangeably.
Lewis lacks height and speed outside but has the quickness and instincts to be very good in the slot
Byron is faster and taller, he should be competing with Brown for rcb starting in camp

I know this isn’t a popular opinion, but that dosent deter my thoughts.. I adhere to having the best players on the field. So Go ahead and mark this down and chastise me later if I’m wrong.. it’s just my opinion.

First, Scandrick will be gone. We need the extra cap space and it seems he’s already conceded to moving on. So, let ‘em go. This draft is loaded with Good CBs like last year and Dallas would be foolish not to grab another 3rd-4th Rd steal(possibly with one of the compensatory picks).

Second, adding another young talent to groom, Byron Jones, and forgotten players like Duke Thomas/Marquez White to the Cb position will allow the Boys to move Awuzie to safety, which I personally believe they wanted to do last year when they projected Scandrick, Carroll, and Lewis as the starters before injuries and Nolan Carroll happened.

I think our best 5 (or 6, depending on scheme) would be:

CB- Lewis, Jones, Brown, Thomas/Draft pick

Safties- Awuzie and Woods

Edited: I also should note- don’t be surprised when Bryon resigns at a reasonable contract for a starting CB next year after having a good season covering bigger WRs/TEs that our new Secondary Coach covets

Byron has a short leash if he gets boundary duties over Lewis because Lewis actually PROVED he can guardoutside corners. Rookie Byron jones was getting torched by an Eric Decker/Ryan Fitzpatrick combo. I’d rather him start in the slot and use his so called freakish jumping ability/athleticism.

Stop regurgitating what tv tells you. When did Lewis do anything but ball on the outside? Was he not very good as a rookie on the outside?

Jones, Awuzie, Lewis, Brown...cant get much better than that

Draft Derwin and sign Earl Thomas and welcome to the Superbowl
I’d probably crap the smelliest load in my “manties” if we were able to draft Derwin.

Yes, that would be a good thing.

Chido needs to stay at CB

Have you not learned your lesson from the Byron Jones fiasco?

Lewis is our best corner, and by far our best outside corner. Jones has been subpar. Not as bad as some say, but not near as good as some are claiming.

Lewis slid in the draft due to height and some off field issues. We were extremely lucky to get him. Just naming him a slot corner means you aren't paying attention.

Alright, quick exercise; name your starting three cornerbacks (LCB, RCB and slot).

Here's mine:
Awuzie
B. Jones
Lewis (slot)

Lewis was good, is younger and cheaper, and started 7 games at CB in his rookie seasons.
Jones has been playing FS and has basically washed out there.

I don't know why people are assuming Jones would start over Lewis.

They might move Lewis into the slot for the nickel, but he's a starter, not Jones.

It annoys me to no end when people put every 5’10cb in the slot. Like Malcolm butler doesn’t exist  and he isn’t the only one. You can either play or you can’t.

I get what your saying, but Bryon should have never been moved to safety. He was moved to safety out of necessity bc he was athletic enough to play the position, but he was never physical enough as evident by his play last year. Awuzie is a beast and will dominate with his eyes forward. He proved last year he could cover, was a physical tackler, and has the ability to make plays on the ball. I realize he did a good job a CB and if we had an established FS I probably wouldn’t consider the idea. But like Byron, just bc he has the ability to play a certain position, does not mean that is his best position. If Dallas chooses to keep him at corner, so be it. But I don’t want a glaring hole at Safety just to prove he’s capable of being a corner.

Example: Charles Woodson was a good corner in this league for awhile also, but when he was moved to safety, he dominated games.

I just want people to keep an open mind. Just bc Byron failed dosent mean Awuzie will.. their play on the football field are totally different. Byron and Awuzie are both good young players.. Byron is a finesse player, where as Awuzie is physical.. and that’s what it takes to be a safety.

Yes! That would totally change my opinion.. unfortunately I don’t see how he falls to us at 19. Even Derwin said we’d have to trade up to get ‘em..

Joe Haden 5-11
Brandon Flowers 5-9
Brent Grimes 5-10
Jason Verrett 5-10
Logan Ryan 5-11
TNew 5-10
Jonathon Joseph 5-11
Janorice Jenkins 5-10

Funny thing is that the best cover corners are mostly 6 and under.

I'm not adverse to trying Chido at S. There was much conjecture predraft that S might be his best position.

It's kinda funny how people claim CB's are more important than S's. Thing is, if you don't have good S's, talent at CB is negated. So, which position is really more important?

Screw him and his lack of humility! We could move up a couple slots at least to grab his braggadocious arse!

I'm not convinced that Jones would start over Brown. People sheepled this idea that Jones just had to be a CB. I don't think he has the extreme lateral agility to mirror receivers.

I’m with ya on that, that’s why I’d like to see the Boys draft another corner in this CB deep draft. I believe his awareness is what gets him in trouble.(Maybe thinking to much) Hopefully, better coaching alliviates this concern. I will say..due to the bigger WRs/TEs and experience, Bryon will be on the field a lot.

Denzel award slides. Pick him at 19.

Trade Jones and a pick to Seattle for Thomas.

Let’s roll.
