sixers are wildin out... waiting til the dust settles..
congrats houston on getting young kj mcdaniels... great young talent

I don't know what to make of it all. Dragic's minutes are down because of Isaiah Thomas, and both Thomas and Dragic are traded and Brandon Knight comes in.

KG back to Minny. Thunder add Kanter and Augustin but lose Jackson. Afflalo to Portland. Crazy stuff.

knight is a combo.. for all the good he did... Kidd wanted a true point.. hence mcw.... Dragic asked to be traded, was a free agent after the year anyway. two first for him, and a true combo to play next to bledsoe... I see the science.... Now maybe Goodwin can get some burn. He played well at times last year... losing enis was unexpected.

kantner to okc
reggie jackson to Detroit
all interesting stuff... wild deadline.

The West keeps getting stronger while the East keeps getting weaker. What's new?

The Heat might be the most puzzling org in basketball.
No idea why they made this move.
They are 8 games under .500.

They just made a trade giving up both depth and draft picks....
Just seems strange.

Dragic can be a very good player but he is definitely a system guy and the Heat are built around 35 year old dudes now.
The Heat get worse defensively and lose a lot of depth plus a couple draft picks in order to pay someone big money.

For someone who has the ability to be as good as Dragic, it's puzzling why he's been on so many teams in such a short time. I agree that he's a system guy, and someone is going to way overpay for him this offseason. I think he's a great #2 guy, but he's going to get paid like a #1.

He essentially has one all-star season mixed in amongst a handful of role player type seasons.

I generally like being the team in any NBA trade getting the best player but I thought coming in to this season the Heat were gonna struggle and need to rebuild a bit.
This move wraps up their cap space for another 3-4 years and weakens them in a few areas.

All that said, it can be hard to find a PG. Maybe they are ready to pass the torch from DWade and build the team around Dragic.
If so, good move.
If not they seem to be saying we'll settle for middle of the road for a while and ignore the best advantage of being Miami with FA recruiting.

I bleeping hate Crawford......he is the Clippers' Derek Fisher. BTW, I wish the NBA would start calling offensive fouls when the shooter jumps into or kicks at a vertical defender. The defender has a right to that space, and when the shooter or dribbler invades it, it should be an offensive foul. Reggie Miller and Karl Malone were famous for this move. Crawford has made it an art form behind the arc.

Leonard picked a bad night to play like a fresh, steaming, festering pile of horse feces. He was atrocious on the offensive end, and not all that good on the defensive end. It was the worst I have ever seen him play. I hope he comes back with avengance tonight against GS.

We blew a chance to be the 5th seed, so now tonight is a must win.

Dragic is best with the ball in his hands. He didn't have that opportunity in the seasons outside of the All Star season.
The kid is really good, we will see how good over the second half of the season.

lol... the spurs just have to play better... simple as that...... and they can, and probably will.

and I know spurs fans will justify this based on the "rules"... but fouling Jordan every trip down the floor until the 2 minute mark because you are behind is straight bush league.

I don't like the hack a foul.......never have, but it is an effective weapon at times. If not for Crawford, it would have been one last night.

The last guy who was really good with the ball in hands but had to fight and claw to get the ball was Jeremy Lin.
I am just not sure I trust a 28 year old PG who hasn't had that chance til now as a franchise caliber player.
PHX system is the most PG friendly in basketball.
We saw the Lakers shoot themsevles in the foot trading for Steve Nash out of it.

With Bosh now injured it's quite possible the Heat were looking at lottery picks.
Not sure I'd have made the trade when getting a top 10 pick would have made more sense.

On the Spurs, yes they need to be play better but the root of that is better interior defense.
They were fouling because it was better than giving up 3 point plays when they couldn't stop anyone inside.
When Big Baby is clowning you, you might need some defense there.

And still in the 8th seed. They are fighting for the playoffs this year, and they saw the only chance they could get a point guard of Dragics' caliber. They couldn't afford him as a FA, so they went after him via trade, where they could re-sign him.
The picks are in 2017 and 2021 IIRC. Long term it may hurt, however, the Heat have been a very poor drafting team outside of 2002/2003.
The depth you are referring to is basically trash. Cole? Declined this year and was another 1st round disappointment.
Hamilton? He was a nice bench warmer. Wasn't going to play unless multiple injuries pop up again.
Williams? Played ok. Probably the best bench guy given up, which isnt saying much.
Granger? Eh. His play is easily replaceable.
They now have two roster spots open that they can use to sign some potential buyout players. There's the depth being replenished with better players.

Bosh is 31, Wade is 33, Whiteside will be 26, McRoberts is 29, Deng is 30, Dragic is 29...

Where's "built around 35 year old dudes" cast you are referring to?

Oh, Anderson and Haslem. One is a backup center and the other is a bench warmer most nights.

How did the Heat get worse defensively? Losing a shell of former self Granger? Cole? lol. Hamiton? lmao.
Williams? No.

They discussed it on Mike and Mike this morning - but how would you address it? It IS an important tactic at ends of games, so how do you determine when it is or isn't allowed? I can take or leave it. It's not ideal, but I don't think it's really ruined the game, because it's done so infrequently.

I'm glad to see the Thunder lose Reggie Jackson, because he was a thorn when the Spurs played them. They got a good haul, though. Seems like there were a lot of internal problems with Jackson, though.

Evidently I can't link it, but there's an article on ******** talking about how Durant and Westbrook were happy to see him go.

Edit...apparently I can't even mention the website name.

hard to benefit form a pg friendly system when a team has 4 pg's, and start two.
we'll see what he does with his chance..
