When you make someone resort to this type of trolling ...... you know you have won.

your definition of winning is just as bizarre as your love of the spurs

when you inspire ridicule you are not winning...

and you spurs homers are truly laughable trying to claim you are equal or better to the great Celtics dynasty. Only in the weird world of spurs homers does 6 beat 11

You are getting more and more desperate ...... quote where i compared the Spurs to the Celtics from 50 years ago or shut up.

Fact is you are babbling about your hatred of the Spurs trying to provoke a reaction ....... simple trolling ..... and you are getting ridiculed for it.

The Celtics had a great dynasty....one of the greatest of all-time. However, over the last 20 years, they have been rather pathetic, aside from a couple of years.

17 titles is a huge accomplishment. Boston and the Lakers are definitely the two most successful franchises in the history of the NBA, that cannot be denied.

However, you cannot dismiss the greatness of the Spurs. Well, you can, but it would ruin any validity to your NBA knowledge. The Spurs are the 3rd most successful franchise in NBA history. Yes, the Bulls have 6 titles, and the Spurs have 5, but aside from the 90's Jordan years, the Bulls have not been all that great of a franchise. Meanwhile, the Spurs have the 2nd best winning % in NBA history, and after this season, most likely 1st.

They have accomplished all of this while being in a small media market, in a city no big name free agents seem to covet, and with a limited budget. They have never had the resources of the Celtics, Lakers, Bulls, or Knicks, yet, year in and year out, they are among the NBA elite.

I have no problem acknowledging the Celtics and Lakers as being the best in the Association. I cannot and will not dismiss their storied success or try to make light of anything they have accomplished. I am ok with the Spurs being the 3rd best franchise in NBA history for now. Cause we may be 3rd overall, but we are the best small market franchise in all 4 of the major sports leagues.........and that is awesome.

uhhh, no disrespect.. acknowledge a lot of what you said, but the bulls are three.. their 6 championships in 8 years, which probably would have been 8 had Michael not retired/pops died/gambling problems/played baseball..... Besides before D. Robinson, the spurs were one of the worst franchises in the NBA ... But again, respect to them, they are a great franchise now.
Yes the Spurs have been awesome recently, but besides boston's run with Big Bill, Micheal had the most impressive run... hence that franchise deserves its due.

Go Sixers:(

PS, the Packers is the best small market team in all 4 major sports of all time IMHO...:(

How exactly were the spurs one of the worst franchises in the nba yet they have missed the playoffs like 3 times in their history?

actually, the Spurs have only missed the playoffs 4 times since joining the NBA. They had 3 very poor years prior to Robinson, but before that, the biggest reason that they couldn't do much in the postseason was because they consistently ran into that buzz saw know as Showtime. When they first joined, they were in the East. They blew a 3-1 lead in the ECF to the Bullets in 78 or 79, I always get the year mixed up.

Yes, the Bulls had a great run in the 90s and there is no guarantee they win 8 in a row. That is a silly statement. They may have won 4 or 5 in a row, but the extended seasons year after year would have taken a physical toll and they would have most likely worn down. Like I said in the earlier post, the late 80s and early 90s was it for the Bulls. As a franchise, before MJ, they were garbage. Post MJ, they have been decent, but nearly a Championship contender.

Across the entire history of each franchise Spurs > Bulls.

Seriously, after this season, the Spurs will almost assuredly have the best franchise winning % in NBA history (6 losing seasons in 38 years, missed playoffs only 4 times). They will also either be fourth with 5 or tied for third with 6 NBA Championships. Case closed.

Gotta give you spurs fans credit. Know your history. I didn't think much of the Alvin Robertson/ Artis Gilmore years, and they were a fairly new franchise in the NBA when I was a kid.
But I stand corrected, you are right, only 4 missed playoff years. That is outstanding.

Btw, The Bulls would not have won the two championships in-between (barring injury)?........, Possible.... But they were clear favorites the year mj left, and they were clearly better than the Knicks and Hou if you watched jon starks shoot the knicks to a loss. The drexler year you have more of an argument....... so, I wouldn't call the possibility of 8 "silly".... but we will agree to disagree on that one.

well when you are constantly disrespected and dismissed as some small town and small time team, you as a fan, learn the history. Plus, the Spurs are all we have down here. So all of our energies are focused on them. I was born just after they moved to SA, and I had my Dad and older bros show me the passion for the team. Thanks to them I have a great appreciation for the history of my team. BTW, they are also the reason for my passion for the Cowboys.

A few things contributed to the lean years of the 80s.......Johnny Moore had dessert fever and it slowed his career, he definitely had HOF talent. Gervin was traded to the Bulls (had to be done, he was aging and had a drug problem), also we whiffed badly on the 85 draft. We could have had Joe Dumars, but instead we drafted the worst pick in franchise history, Alf. Hughes. Imagine a backcourt of PG Dumars and SG Robertson. That would have been one helluva foundation to build around. But, I cannot complain too much. Those lean years gave us Robinson, Elliott, Willie Anderson and Cummings (via the trade for Robertson, who turned out to be a complete scumbag off the court). Anderson was a good player, but he was limited by bad legs. If his wheels would have stayed healthy, he had the ability to be a multiple time all-star.

Still, part of me wishes I could have seen a lineup of Robinson, Cummings, Elliott, Robertson, Dumars. That would have been absolutely special on both ends of the court.

So yes, I have done my homework on my Spurs. I want my passion to come out, but I also want to be able to come across as intelligent and knowledgeable. I take great pride in being a lifelong Spurs fan. I know I have come across as obnoxious when the topic of the Spurs come up, and with good reason, they are awesome. I wish the Cowboys would get out of their JJ funk and get back to competing for titles. I wish the Pens would quit losing to inferior teams in the NHL playoffs. I wish the Horns would get their act together back on the gridiron. I wish the Astros could lose less than 100 games in a season and also be on TV more than when they play the Rangers. I wish Dale Jr. could win the Sprint Cup Championship. So while my other teams are all struggling, I have my Spurs to lean on.....and hopefully next year, they will be hoisting #6.

Now that we've all acknowledged the greatness of the Spurs, can we talk about the NBA free agency at least in this thread.

Please excuse us Spurs fans for wallowing in our glory. Up until this years Western Conference finals, we never got any respect. Even winning championships, we never got the respect we deserved. After humiliating LeMe and destroying the Heat franchise, we are finally starting to see the respect. It's been a long time coming.

Free agency is pretty much done for anyway. Now it's about the trade market. Most notably kevin love, but rajon rondo and josh smith might be moving as well

Well it looks as if the Spurs will match any reasonable offer to Baynes. However, if some team wants to grossly overpay, the Spurs will let him walk.

After watching the entire recent NBA season and now the Summer League, I am hoping Jeff Ayres will become a free agent. I want him off the Spurs ASAP.

I didn't realize Monroe was still a FA. Too bad his price tag is out of the Spurs range.

I wonder if there is anyone from the Summer League at the C/F or SF position that the Spurs may be looking at. I am concerned about our depth after Leonard. Daye is definitely not the answer to be his primary backup as of now. That Cherry guy from the Cleveland SL squad seems to have earned himself a look for someone's training camp and may be an under the radar FA signing for next year.

The guy I still want to add, isn't a FA. His rights belong to Miami. I would not mind trading a few future picks for G/F James Ennis. I think he would be a great backup to Leonard for years to come and solidify our backcourt when Manu retires.
