Melo to the Rockets? Rumors out there Houston is trying to make it happen.

I'd love to see it happen for the simple fact I think it will be a complete failure.

With Kobe gone, Melo is the last of the "hero ball" guys of the old generation. I just can't envision Melo in any offense where he's not the focal point.

If Melo went to the Rockets then there would be 3 players that need the ball. The Warriors work because none of the players need the ball to be successful.

I remember ABQCowboy claiming it wouldn't work for the Dubs last year when Durant came aboard around this time last year.

He's not really a stretch four.

If he plays at the 4, he's part of the new wave of 3's playing the 4.
Thats what I meant essentially. With Brown and Hayward on the roster, he will most likely break in at the 4. For a wing his iso skills are very translatable to being a face up 4, and once his deep shooting becomes more consistent he will really be able to stretch a defense out. His rebounding production has been very good as well, but thats something I need to see carry over to the preseason

yup, I'd be like Zaza, set screens and foul everyone like crazy so I fouled out before they made me shoot the ball.

He single handily almost ruined the Finals for my brother-in-law and I; I couldn't take my eyes off him because he's so I athletic and unskilled at this point in his career. I remember one 90 second sequence you could have played the Benny Hill song.

Not entirely true. I said that it could be a problem that effected the flow of the Offense, particularly 3 pt shooting, and that it could effect the roster. Not enough balls to go around essentially. I think if you look at it, that is exactly what happened. The numbers did go down for the big three, in particular, three point shooting. I never once said it wouldn't work. I said you don't know if it will work and you put yourself at risk.

I will say this, they have done much better then I ever thought they would. That is true.

Waiting on Nerlens to sign since he has so few options but watching Dennis Smith Jr in the Summer League has been FUN.
Kid may very well end up ROY.
Uber athletic and skilled.
I thought he was a better prospect then Fox and maybe even Ball IMO

My Mavs-centric ratings were Fox, DSJ, Fultz.

I am not a big fan of Ball. He has great vision and passing ability but he lacks raw athleticism, has an ugly, push jump shot and will always be a weak defender imho.

Ignored the good wings because Mavs needed a PG so badly to pair with Noel. Someone that can create.

With Fox, non shooter to always represent some risk for me. If the shot doesn't develope player could really limit what a team can do.

Ball is a high floor low ceiling guy to me. He will be a good facilitator and transistion passer and finisher, but I dont see his shot being respected in half court. He is gonna have trouble getting his shot off off the dribble. I could see his a Rubio caliber player, with a better shot but nearly as good a defensive playmaker. Which is not a bad player, but not all NBA either

Fox completely destroyed Ball which of course created a lot of my opinion.
Always knew DSJ was gonna be a monster offensively but NCST played zero defense and that was scary.

Rubio is a great comp to Ball IMHO. Skilled floor general but not overly athletic and not a great scorer.

I think DSJ is a Stevie Franchise type. He can go crazy offensively.

The thing with Smith is he has real franchise potential. Quite rare you get that with the 9th pick in the draft

An odd note: Smith was on our rader in another potential trade down with him as the target. This in the heals of Ainge saying he traded the chance for Fultz because they were liked what they had in there back court. I think more likely they saw something im Fultz they really didn't like in terms of being a franchise player

Lack of athleticism didn' hurt Stocktons game. As for jump shots, Shawn Marions was ugly but somehow went in.

different era of basketball but yes skill is a great equalizer.

again i watched fox obliterate ball with athleticism so that stuck with me.

lavar blamed it on the UCLA "white" players but reality is Ball looked pretty white to me.
i was shocked ball was rated top 3.

lonzo may be great tho for sure; i just dont see a generational talent with him. i will say his basketball iq and court vision are top of the class. i just worry the parts of his game you really cant improve, quickness, speed, vert; will hold him back.

steph curry is pretty average athletically too fwiw so i get it; i just dont see enough skill to overcome mediocre athleticism and am not used to seeing that get drafted top of draft.

I'm not even a Lonzo Ball fan but in his defense his mother had a stroke right before that game and couldn't speak and his dad and brothers couldn't be at the game. I'm willing to give him a break for that one game and not judge his entire career on it
