The Lakers did sign Robert Upshaw as an UFA so they aren't completely in the cold but he's a rookie and a far cry from what they really wanted to bring in. He has some real good talent but kid has issues too. Be interesting to see what they do there if they are unable to sign anybody.

Well in fairness to the Knicks that is insane money for Monroe.

It was. but you have to overpay free agents... I also think they needed to set a precedent for next years market that they are willing bidders and have talent.(and this years market for that matter)
I personally think Phil is thinking long term, but telling the media and Melo that he's thinking short term... and thats pretty unfair if thats the case... his press conferences with the NY media since pre draft has been pretty confusing.

Also, I don't think the Knicks offered "Max"... It was a lot of reports that Greg left without that offer.... Faulk cleaned up for them and said they did.... but he has a good history and working relationship with the Knicks.

Good move for the Sixers. Get in some veterans which they need and get tipped a ton.
The Sixers have more soft assets than anyone.
I expect a lot of teams to want some of their young talent.

Absolutely it was. They're still 20mil under the cap with this trade...
I don't know if Landry will be a sixer for long... In typical sixes fashion they will trot Thompson and Landry out with hopes of trading them, or buy one or both out (more likely Landry). The sixers are smart because they get to swap with the Kings in the draft the next two years, so if the kings barely miss the playoffs, and somehow steals the 1st pick of the draft, its philly's... and they get a future first from them as well... and all it cost was two Euros, not even their top Euros (Saric, and Micic)... and some salary cap space... they are still 12mil from the minimum NBA floor...dam!!

Edit: and it makes up for drafting 4 centers this year!!! (traded two of them now)

Ed Davis to Portland...

You know, they may lose Aldridge, but respect to them.
Myers Leonard(who played well in the playoffs), Mason Plumee, Noah Volegh, Aminu, CJ McCulluh (also played well in the playoffs), Gerald Henderson, & Ed Davis is a decent young core to put around Lillard...

I agree. You lose a player like Aldridge and that's going to hurt but they have made some sensible moves to try and recover. Good job by them, I agree.

Morris Twins broken up...
Marcus, along with Reggie Bullock, and Old Man Knees Granger traded to DET for basically nothing.

Shane Larkin crosses the street to Brooklyn with a 2 year contract.

Aaron Baynes to DET as well

Go Knicks...lol... how do you let the bucks.... oh yeh, its the knicks...lol....

another year of mediocrity in NY... guess Ill be going to more college games.

signing Monroe would have kept us from giving up a great pick to Denver, but we still would be a 7th/8th seed at best with no chance of advancing in the playoffs. While it really doesn't make a difference since no matter what we do not have a first round pick, I just don't want to give up a top 3 pick to Denver. Either way, I'd deal Melo at the end of the season

Mavs got Wesley Matthews and since he and DeAndre Jordan are friends, it's looking good for the Mavs on that front too...

Mini bump.

If the Mavs get Jordan to go with Matthews, nice offseason for sure.

As for Matthews; he's a way better fit with Parsons than Ellis was. He's a big upgrade on defense at the position, and is a premier 3 pt shooter--which also allows Parsons to create more.

The really need Jordan though.

overpaid for a guy coming off of a huge injury... Parson dealing with injuries as well... If DJ don't sign with Dallas, the forecast will be really cloudy..
