Lin very quietly had a decent season last year among the Lakers mess. But he does need the ball in his hands, so I'm not sure where that takes us with our "supposed" offense of Parsons running point forward. While obviously no Rondo, I'm not really sure Lin would beat Felton in 3 point shooting contest... so not really an upgrade if he's just going to bring the ball up and space floor. Having said that, I'm not 100% sold that Rick is planning on running the offense the way the media thinks he is.

They want a true PG.
The problem last year was they had a PG + Ellis + Parsons.
Now it would be 2 vs 3 needing the ball. Mathews helps in this regard....freeing up Parsons to handle the rock.

Lin is a decent 6th man type and creator off the bench. He is average defensively.
He is a decent seat warmer option for the season on a 1 year deal.

LOL, what a joke it is when children try to attempt to understand stats. "You" noted the stat that actually matters? LOL! You don't even know what a win share is. You don't even watch basketball going by the drivel you produce. I'll say it one more time for you: there might not have been two players in the NBA who were more identical last year than Chandler and Jordan. Chandler was 1st in the NBA in offensive rating; Jordan was 2nd. Jordan was 1st among centers in real plus/minus, Chandler was 3rd. They had nearly identical PERs and WS/48. They both shot a ridiculous percentage from the field, with similar usage rates and low assist numbers (Jordan is almost certainly the biggest black hole in the league).

And LOL at anyone bringing up the all-defensive team as some kind of barometer for defense. Further proof you don't even watch basketball and think blocking shots and vulturing rebounds is defense. It's common knowledge that Jordan is not in the discussion when it comes to the better defensive centers in the league. The Clippers posted stronger defensive marks when he was off the floor.

Now go back to playing NBA 2K or whatever it is you do when you're not trolling here. Leave the actual analysis to people who watch the game, and proceed with your boring opinions about free agency.

you keep saying really stupid things as if saying them make it right.

1st I am on every nba thread that exists on this forum and what I have posted has been proven correct... time and time again over multiple seasons. My boring free agency takes have been what actually happened in virtually every case.

2nd Centers that play defense and like to dunk are hardly rare. Saying TC and DAJ are the same guy is overly simplistic and child-like.

3rd even children understand per 48 and per 36 numbers are for back ups, losers and fans hoping to poach some scrub and promote them to starting.

4th I understand analytics and advanced stats. I was a fan before ESPN even hired Hollinger and made his PER a big deal. I also understand why guys like Ced Ceballos had inflated stats.

5th You've yet to explain what DAJ was offered 108M and TC 54M since they are the same guy?

Try harder.

the Spurs are rumored to be interested in Lin........I don't like him or want him. He dribbles too much, tries to be a hero, and makes some poor passing decisions.....we already have that in Parker.....I would rather we keep Joseph.

just so the super dumb virus doesn't infect anyone else:

DAJ: estimated wins added: 14.7 (2nd behind Gasol at 14.9)
TC: EWA: 10.8

DAJ: Wins Above Replacement: 12.08 1st among centers
TC: WAR: 9.99 3rd amongst Centers

2015 totals

Defensive Rebounds:
DAJ 829 1st by over 100 boards
TC: 570 6th

Blocks:
DAJ 183 3rd
TC 91 not in top 25

FG %
DAJ 71% 1st
TC 66% but not enough shots to qualify.

Removing stats altogether what you get with DAJ is the league's best rebounder two years running and the league leader in dunks.
A very good shot blocker and PNR defender.
A guy who gets to the free throw line frequently but misses a TON(so did Rondo last year BTW).
But the biggest thing is a guy who comes out and plays every night. 82 games.
And his numbers are all going in the right direction as an ascending young player with playoff heavy experience.

Mavs fans poo-pooing this signing are absolute idiots.

You keep saying really, really stupid things as if saying them covers the fact that you don't watch basketball.

1. Is it my turn to be impressed, or to throw out some phony claim patting myself on the back that can't possibly be verified? I'll pass on both.

2. Trolls who think blocked shots and all-defensive teams = defense are overly simplistic and child-like.

3. Even children understand cumulative stats are for simple Simon fans too lazy to think.

4. Not only do you not understand them, there is little evidence that you even watch basketball at all.

Put down the controller and try harder.

Another laughable analysis using totals and largely meaningless stats like FG% and Blocks. Jordan a good PNR defender guy? LOL. Maybe in your 2K game.. in real life he is not good at hedging and recovering and too massive to stay with the point man... though I admit he can recover on the finish a lot because of his athleticism.

Talk about cherry picking to the extreme. Hey, Mr. Stat man, have you ever heard of true shooting percentage? Would you explain that to us all using your amazing wisdom and then tell us who the league leaders in that were?

rough crowd:omg:

LOL... I'll stop, I know no one wants to read all of this crap. It all started because some overly sensitive guy got mad because someone asked him a question and started throwing insults. But it's on me too. So sorry about that.

"Lies, damned lies, and statistics", indeed.

For the second off season in a row, the Mavs are going to be paying someone else's third best player as though he was an alpha. That seems like a questionable strategy imo. I guess we'll see.
