just so the super dumb virus doesn't infect anyone else:

DAJ: estimated wins added: 14.7 (2nd behind Gasol at 14.9)
TC: EWA: 10.8

DAJ: Wins Above Replacement: 12.08 1st among centers
TC: WAR: 9.99 3rd amongst Centers

2015 totals

Defensive Rebounds:
DAJ 829 1st by over 100 boards
TC: 570 6th

Blocks:
DAJ 183 3rd
TC 91 not in top 25

FG %
DAJ 71% 1st
TC 66% but not enough shots to qualify.

Removing stats altogether what you get with DAJ is the league's best rebounder two years running and the league leader in dunks.
A very good shot blocker and PNR defender.
A guy who gets to the free throw line frequently but misses a TON(so did Rondo last year BTW).
But the biggest thing is a guy who comes out and plays every night. 82 games.
And his numbers are all going in the right direction as an ascending young player with playoff heavy experience.

Mavs fans poo-pooing this signing are absolute idiots.

fair recovery for Lakers and Knicks. they grabbed some assets that will appeal to contenders which is how you start rebuilding.
both will probably be lotto teams again but with movable pieces and some direction.
what those teams did last off-season was really puzzling to me.

the teamtank stuff doesn't work in this modern CBA era. now you gotta collect actual NBA assets. -future picks and 19 year olds have very limited value.
people are generally motivated to trade to win now or to get worse/cheaper.

mavs: think they'll get 2 of Lin/JJB/JET. just comes down to money and S&T options this week.
can use the 2.8m room exception for JJB or JET and can free up 2.6m space via stretch release of Felton to get other. Lin should have higher offers so just test of if he is willing to take cheapskate one year deal for chance to start on a playoff team.or if S&T becomes doable based on DAL/INDY/LAL.
mavs could look like
PG: Lin/Harris/JJB
SG: Matthews/JET/J.Anderson
SF: Parsons/Jefferson
PF: Dirk/Darrell Arthur
C: DeAndre/Jermaine O'Neal
inactives: Jeremy Evans/Charlie V/Powell
Matthews/Parson injuries likely mean heavy guard rotation early... justin anderson can play the 3 as will jeremy evans.

David West to the Spurs for league minimum. And Manu opts back in. Holy crap.

1st team: Parker/Green/Leonard/Duncan/Aldridge

2nd team: Mills/Manu/Anderson/Diaw/West

Spurs aside, teams are going to HATE that Texas road trip.

Best off season for the Spurs in along time. Now they have to jell and put it all together.

I really hope crawford or Joe Johnson end up in Cleveland.... Spurs/ Cavs series would be a phenomenal one if everyone is healthy....
not to count out the other teams..... but a good matchup this would be.

Houston has Howard. He's not team friendly no matter his stats. Don't see how the Mavs got any better. Jordan's good but so was Chandler. All their FA pickups at best cancelled out what they lost. But you're right, they'll still be tough outs.

I wonder if anyone has done the equivalent of what West has done to chase a ring. I'm searching the old mental archives... I have to say it's both shameless and admirable at the same time.

What's shameless about it?

West is a prideful, multiple All-Star who as recently as a year ago (before George's injury) was being counted on as a foundational piece for a title contending team. Same thing before in New Orleans.
Barely a year later, he is going to go sit on the bench and wave a towel for a guy and team he fought fiercely to overcome for a big chunk of his career... and take as big a pay cut as I can remember in NBA history to do it.
For a stubbornly proud man like West to voluntarily go from David West to Brian Cardinal and do it in such a transparent manner is shameless. He will get a ring in hardware only. If 10 years from now someone tells you David West was an NBA champion, you will require proof.

While the Spurs would be head to head favorites vs CLE, if we are talking about Vegas odds, CLE will still be the clear favorite for no other reason than thy are a lock to make the finals.
