Can Detroit win without Suh? He is a phenomenal player. But can they win without him? The way our offense is designed. We cannot win without Dez. If we feel like a team should not be held hostage by the WR position. Then you have to change how you approach offense. If you recall our 90s dynasty days.....we learned that Irvin was the one we could not live without. Our dynasty was officially dead when he never got up of the carpet in Philly. Does not mean Troy and Emmit were not great players. But they makeup of that team could not win without Irvin. And the makeup of this team cannot win without Dez.

So if Dez breaks his ankle, Dallas is done?

Nonsense. He's just a receiver. Name the last elite receiver to win a championship.

Dallas owns Dez' rights for two years. Why are you freaking out?

Dez is panicking, and if he'd just play, he's got $27 million coming his way over the next 18 months.

He needs cash now, it appears.

You are looking at from a strictly technical situation. There is such thing as the lockeroom and chemistry. Players do not want to be tagged 2 years in a row. And when I consider what Dez means to this team....this is not good for either side. He does NOT have 27m coming his way. If he blows his knee out THIS season....he will never see that other franchise tag. In a PERFECT world...sure he would play for 27m over 2 seasons. But that is NOT a guarantee. Do we really want to see a guy out there protecting himself so that he can get that 2nd half of the franchise tag? Or do we want to see a guy cut it lose and play the game like he always have?

I don't know if they can or not but I don't believe that our Offense is designed around one WR, even if that WR is Dez. Our Offense is designed around Tony and the OL. Can we win without Dez? I think we can but we don't know till we actually see it. To me it's irrelevant. I don't see any way Dez doesn't play.

Zero possibility. He's not giving up too many game checks if at all.

If he blows his knee out, then the franchise tag will save Dallas from eating a huge contract.

If $12.8 million isn't enough for him to play hard, then he isn't worth keeping around.

He was in a contract year last year and I did not see him holding back or protecting himself.

Have you noticed that there are probably 30+ people in this thread and the majority of them are in agreement except you and
@cowboyvic ?

You two seem to think you "understand" something that none of the other posters understand.

What is even more interesting is that all of the people that are in agreement are normally not in agreement on most subjects.

They have a draft and Free Agency every year. They also allow trades. If DAL doesn't have to pay Dez 12-15m they can find another very good WR to help replace him.

I would say that we would probably miss the playoffs though if we had to play all year without DMurray and Dez.

You better believe if Dez is done Dallas is done. You clearly have not been paying attention. Check Dallas when we lost Mike Irvin. Check the 2007 team once TO got hurt. Now....should the loss of a WR doom a team. NO! But in this case...with the roster we have...and the way we run this offense....it does!

I've heard that he can insure this 2016 Tag salary for about 400K.

What do I care? Let this team go play football games without Dez and see what the results will be. Ask Troy what the loss of Micheal Irvin meant to his career. This organization has stated ANY RB can run behind this line. I guess the rest of you all think we should just double down and say any WR can lead us to victory.

He doesn't have to sign what the team offers if it's not what his market value is. There will be plenty of teams foaming out the mouth to give Dez that deal he desires if he hits the open market next year.

He won't hit the open market next year if he doesn't sign. Even if he does DAL can tag him again.

Again, they won't be playing without Dez. It's called a bluff and it's a weak one at that.

No, I pay attention. You don't.

Tell me the last elite receiver to win a championship.

AND HE'S HERE THE NEXT TWO YEARS. WHAT PART OF THAT DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?

Dez only knows one way to play, and that is full speed. He isn't going to come in and dog it like he doesn't care. He wouldn't let his team mates down.

People who worry that Dez won't play hard are worrying for nothing.

Dez doesn't do himself good by calling Jones to tell him that. It makes him sound desperate. I think Stephen will call his bluff

makes you wonder if Dez is doing the negotiating or his agent.....Dez just needs to stay low and do his job....This isn't the Cowboys first exercise in negotiating and acting foolish isn't gonna make things happen any sooner.....Let the agents and Ownership work this out one way or the other....But Man ... Dez is wanting a deal real bad....and soon....makes wonder WHY..

I heard that as well, but even cheaper.

They said 10k for every 1m. So 15m would cost 150k.

That seems real low to me, but I'm not an Insurance guy. They would need 100 policies just to pay off one.

I think this all leverage with his agent. Dez loves football too much to miss camp or games.

Obviously he does not have to sign it; however, his risk increases if he does not sign it. There will be more guaranteed money in the contract they are offering than in the Franchise Tag for this season.

He can't hit the open market next year either because they can Franchise Tag him again.
