Geez, after reading all these observations, you would think that Dez is the best receiver to walk on a football field.
I think in the end Dez will either sign or take the tag and play. It would be stupid beyond reasonable to sit out
and just throw 800K per game in the dumpster when your broke. But, just say he does that... Now I remember
a fellow named Laurant Robinson who came from nowhere and nothing a blew up the league one year under
this fellow named Romo. You don't think the FO can find another Laurant Robinson for a season. Really?
This is all about Romo and Romo will be successful if the FO can find someone who can get open for him.

If Dez doesn't want to deal...let him eat cake and the Boys will be fine.

Dez Bryant raises stakes in Cowboys' contract talks
i
Todd Archer, ESPN Staff Write

IRVING, Texas -- How serious is Dez Bryant about possibly missing regular-season games?

According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, Bryant called Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones last week to inform him he will not be at training camp and will miss regular-season games if he does not have a long-term deal in placed by 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Jones denied Bryant called.

DeMarco Murray’s 1,845 rushing yards changed the Cowboys’ identity in 2014, Bryant’s big-play ability made the offense dynamic. Without Murray and Bryant, the Cowboys’ offense in general, and Tony Romo in particular, would be hampered.

But Bryant’s success has come in part due to the Cowboys’ ability to help him on and off the field. They have offered a structure that he did not have in his life before he joined the team in 2010, and he has flourished.

By calling Jones, however, Bryant has upped the ante. The Cowboys can still view it as an idle threat if they choose. That might be the right economical call, but the wrong call for success on the field.

750k is a lot for Dez to walk away from each and every week, I'm quite fine with the tag at this point. Love Dez but don't love him at 32-34yrs old.

Report: With deadline Wednesday, Dez Bryant personally informs Cowboys he will miss camp, games without new deal

The Cowboys have until Wednesday at 3 p.m. to sign Dez Bryant to a long-term contract. If the two sides do not reach an agreement by then, the All-Pro wide receiver will play the 2015 season under the franchise tag, paying him $12.8 million.

Bryant continues to attempt putting pressure on the Cowboys by threatening to skip training camp and sit out games. ESPN’s Ed Werder reported Mondaythat Bryant has personally informed Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones of this potential result.

Although the Cowboys won’t be able to work out a new deal after the deadline, Bryant could sit out until the team agrees not to apply the franchise or transition tag next year if a deal can’t be reached after the 2015 season.

“I have no doubt that when we play, if we’re still in a franchise situation, I have no doubt that he’ll be leading the way (Week 1) against the Giants,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said last month. “We just know how competitive Dez is and how much he wants to beat the Giants and how much he wants to support his teammates.”

Many find it difficult to believe Bryant will skip all of training camp or games after he was unable to completely stay away from the team’s voluntary and mandatory offseason workouts. It would also cost Bryant roughly $754,000 for each game he sat out.

BTB: Sources: Dez Bryant Tells Cowboys He Will Hold Out If No Deal Reached

usa-today-8382245.0.jpg
The deadline approaches, rhetoric heating up.

We're coming down to the wire for the Dallas Cowboys and Dez Bryant to work out a new, long term deal. The deadline is Wednesday, June 15th for anything to happen, or else Bryant will play under the franchise tag tender. Or will he?

According to league sources, Dez Bryant has informed Stephen Jones that he will hold out from training camp and from regular season games if a new deal is not struck before the deadline. Now we're left to ponder if this is an ultimatum that Bryant will follow through on, or is it a last minute negotiating tactic. Per the report from sources, Dez made a phone call last week to let the Cowboys know exactly where he stands.

The Cowboys have been reluctant to believe that Bryant would actually hold out, and his attendance at a few OTA and minicamp sessions has been cited as evidence. While that's true, the likely reason they don't believe it is Bryant would be forfeiting a little over $750,000 for each game he misses. Principle is one thing, but that is a lot of cash to leave on the table. Plus, everybody knows Bryant is hyper-competitive and this team is ascending. They are legitimate threats to go to a Super Bowl (at least at this moment in the offseason), could Dez really stay away?

Of course, Dez could make some kind of point by sitting out training camp then showing up for week one. Or, just maybe, the two sides will reach a deal and we can avoid any further speculation on the matter.

you post is right on the money. Jerry better wake up and put Stephen in his place, before it's to late. cowboys fans, Romo and Witten deserve better than this.

This is funny to me. I kinda look at it differently. I think fans better wake up and figure out that Stephen is the future of this Franchise. It will not be too long before Jerry is no longer running this club and Stephen is the next owner and possible GM. This is how the Cowboys are going to do business going forward. Get used to it.

You are right it takes 2 not just Stephen giving Dez whatever or Dez just accepting any deal thrown his way. I think it is hard to argue either side right now without knowing all the facts on what is being offered and what is being demanded. As I said I expect both the Cowboys and Dez to compromise so that a deal that is good for both can be achieved.

I think based on everything that has been reported that we can make a fairly accurate guess as to what has been offered and what has been requested.

I think the Cowboys are offering something like 12.5M per with 28M guaranteed. The actual offer might be slightly lower, but I'm fairly confident that they would give him those terms if he would sign it. That would make him the 2nd highest paid WR in the league.

It seems fairly obvious that Dez and his agent want about 1 dollar more than the Megatron contract which is over 16M per with about 46M guaranteed.

Did a decline in stats...or flat out not playing at all hurt Hardy or Peterson? When you are talking about superior players...in their prime....SOMEONE will pay them a premium. It SHOULD be us....what that number is...I have no idea....but they way our offense is constructed....Dez stats only tell part of the story. He gets a lot of other guys open before the ball is even snapped. Dallas offense is not New England. Where you just plug anyone in at WR and RB and it works. If that is what we would RATHER do....we really need to overhaul our offense!

There is no comparison between guys suspended and signed very cheap or still under contract, and a guy refusing to play under the terms of the CBA
I suspect this is coming from his agent and not dez
I figure it's a last ditch effort by his agent because I seriously doubt dez is going to ho till October or November to get a pay check
And coming in and dogging it will hurt his future
I also do t think dez would do that
I think that's an empty threat from his agent

Agent posturing to try to ensure that it's the team that looks bad when a deal doesn't get done by Wednesday. Given this kind of tactic is being used, I'd guess a deal isn't getting done by Wednesday.

How does it make the team look bad. To me, it makes Dez look bad.

If Nerder made this whole thing up, he should be fired. I can't believe that after all these years, he's still trying to cause Big Trouble in Big D.

As best I can determine Stephen is running the show with only occasional action by Jerry.

I appears that Jerry's primary contributions in recent years have been the veto on drafting Floyd which resulted in the trade down that netted Fred and Williams. I think Stephen was in agreement on this move, but because Garrett and the scouts wanted Floyd, he had Jerry hand down the final decision.

The other primary contribution from Jerry appears to be the signing of Rolando McClain after Stephen had already decided to move on.

We have 2 playoff wins in going on 20 years. now you want to set the team back, and wait even more years.that's not fair to guys like Romo or Witten. or to the fans.

Who was the great running back and the elite receiver for New England last year when they won the Super Bowl?

Strange threat.

"I will give up millions if you don't pay me a few more millions."

Every 750k he misses in 2015 becomes almost a 1m missed in 2016. His franchise tag number in 2016 is based off of his 2015 number.

Gronkowski and RBC...

And I love how everyone uses this when they are the exception + all of the cheating of course.

So easy, any NFL team can do it.
