SANFORD, Fla – An elderly Florida couple have been forced to move into a hotel after their home address was wrongly tweeted as belonging to the man who shot teen Trayvon Martin.

The tweets were traced back to a man in California and the address was also reportedly retweeted by director Spike Lee to his almost 250,000 followers.

The couple, aged 70 and 72, have been harassed with hate mail, been hassled by media and had scared neighbors questioning them since the tweet, their son Chip Humble told the Orlando Sentinel.

Spike Lee has been an ****** for decades...

If he had any decency, he would pick up the hotel charges for this elderly couple...

It is INCREDIBLY irresponsible to tweet addresses. If GM IS everything you think he is, are his wife and children? Do they deserve what this couple has faced?

Spike Lee is another guy like Sharpton and Jackson whom the world would be better off without.

It always amazes me that guys like Rush Limbaugh and Don Imus get accosted anytime they say or do something even the least bit offensive but the above stooges can label others racists, call their fellow African-Americans "Uncle Toms" and try to actively destroy the lives of others free from the risk of public outcry.

I really don't see why people keep bringing up all these other random cases, no one is going to defend the actions of the accused, unlike in this thread, and if you can't see that the reason this story has legs is because Zimmerman wasn't charged, then you truly don't want to understand.

If I looked hard enough I could find white on black crime that the national media doesn't report, white on asian, asian on white, hispanic on black or what ever I want. However it's rare you'll have a dead body of any color and someone standing over them with a smoking gun and not get charged.

What does white on anyone have to do with this case other than the sensational media deeming him a "white hispanic"...

I haven't taken a stand on this one way or the other as I want to let the process work. It isn't always perfect, but it's pretty good.

I personally feel he'll be charged with something, but the outcry and blatant racism put forth by some is very disturbing...

The one thing I will say that really stinks about this whole thing is that most people have already drawn their line in the sand and it will no longer matter what the evidence suggests really happened. Anything short of a video and this will always be a lump in someone's throat.

That is truly sad.

This is really sad for the elderly couple and irresponsible action by Spike Lee. Lot of these high profile activists are making this incident worse than what it is.

I was initially skeptical of the mothers motives in trademarking certain things but like WG said, I think it's because people are using it for profit.

I ran across this at break.com just now.

I think ultimately the mother will gain from having those trademarks but I think the primary concern right now is preventing other people from profiting off her dead child.

Do you realize the $$$ one would have to have to go out and try and enforce a trademark on a party or someone selling 50 T-shirts?

How many times have you seen courts pounce to shut down a party's funds that were collected months ago?

There is more to this than you think. It's more to do w/ like a studio or a coporation profting. It has zero to do w/ some party's and idiots on the sidewalk with a screenprinter.

To me its all about "her" gain and future profit from this tragedy. Folks trying to mask it w/ some silly band-aid because the partys are out of control.

People have drawn a line in the sand on both sides. There is a fake photo going around the internet of Trayvon and it's a different Trayvon Martin with sagging pants and his middle fingers towards the camera. Looks nothing like the Trayvon that we know of yet some who want to paint him a a thug who deserved to die will use that photo to justify his killing.


Sad and all of this could have been avioded if the SPD arrested and chraged ZImmerman in the first place. If person can kill someone in FL and clean up the evidence and claim Self Defense and not end up arrested or chraged because there is not enough evidence than FL needs a look at it's Self Defense laws.


Because I do believe that some will try to abuse the law even though I'm sure that law makers never intended for the law to be abused.

I think no matter what, the authorities will have to indict Zimmerman and go in front of the grand jury. It will be interesting to see what happens from there. If the grand jury decides there isn't enough evidence to go to trial, that is when the "you know what" will hit the fan in terms of riots.

Multiple ABC News sources claim that investigator Chris Serino was “instructed to not press charges against Zimmerman because the state attorney’s office headed by Norman Wolfinger determined there wasn’t enough evidence to lead to a conviction.”

Gutman adds that “police brought Zimmerman into the station for questioning for a few hours on the night of the shooting, said Zimmerman’s attorney, despite his request for medical attention first. Ultimately they had to accept Zimmerman’s claim of self defense. He was never charged with a crime.”

The picture you are refering to, was reported already yesterday and the site instantly took it down and reported it as a fake and apologized to the family already.
