3rd team will have to get involved..OR he will just go there as a FA in the offseason..knicks let go of Tony Douglas next year and they can pay CP3 close to the max

Uhhh no, there's no way they can pay CP3 close to the max, FA or not, why do you think people have been saying he would need to take a pay cut to play in NY.

Knicks fans are full of it ... no way CP3 goes there. Hes not taking that big a pay cut. If you wanna just go win a ring ... why not force a trade to the thunder.

How long have you been watching the NBA?

Wilt Chamberlain traded for Jerry Chambers, Archie Clark and Darrall Imhoff

Kareem Abdul Jabbar traded for Elmore Smith, Brian Winters, Dave Meyers and Junior Bridgeman.

Charles Barkley traded for Jeff Hornacek, Andrew Lang and Tim Perry.

Vince Carter traded for Alonzo Mourning (did not report to toronto), Aaron Williams, Eric Williams and 2 first round picks.

Rasheed Wallace traded to Detroit for Zeliko Rebraca, Bob Sura, Lindsey Hunter, Chucky Atkins and and 2 first-round draft picks.

Steve Francis (as a rookie) traded for Michael Dickerson, Othella Harrington, Antoine Carr, Brent Price and a 2 first rounders.

Lebron James traded to Miami for 2 first round picks.

Chris Bosh traded to Miami for 2 first round picks.

NBA History is littered with lopsided horrible trades, when a Superstar wants out. Even a guy like Steve Francis who never stepped on a court got his way. It's bull****, but there's no reason to think CP3 won't force his way to NY.

The one excpetion to a disgruntled player wanting out and a team actually having to trade some value for him, seems to be the Melo trade. But that really had more to do with the CBA expiring and Melo wanting to sign a max deal before owners got a chance to lower them.

If it weren't for that pressure, Denver would have to accept whatever the Knicks offered for him or lose him for nothing. And before you say it, teams for some reason to hold players out of spite.

I'd rather let him walk as a FA then hand him to his cohorts for nothing. You want to conspire to team together while being paid by us, then go. And take $40m less then what OKC could offer you.

Remember the Hornets are owned by the NBA. There is no Dan Gilbert to be spitefull and make CP3 take less money in order to join NY. And as spitefull as Dan Gilbert was, he still agreed to do a sign and trade so LeBron James could get his 7.5% raise as opposed to his 4.5% raise per year for the bounty of 2 first round picks (1 in 2011 and 1 in 2013).

And if New Orleans does this deal, they'll find themselves in the same situation in next year. He'll likely just sign a QO and be a free agent in 2013. Then they'll have a far less valuable asset that their getting ready to lose.

The Hornets will end up having to settle for a package of Billups, Douglas and either Landry Fields or Iman Shumpert. Atleast with Douglas and Fields/Shumpert your're getting two role players 1, both that value playing time over money/playing on a super team and 1 (Fields/Shumpert who you have their rights for several more seasons).

you have no idea what you are talking about

as a FA the max CP can make is roughly 17MM in NY

as of RIGHT NOW they can afford to pay him roughly 14MM..letting go of Douglas and another player or 2 and they get very close to that 17MM max figure..

The next pick the knicks can trade is in 2016 and Denver has the right to swap that. Iman Frumpert is not enough to give Paul away for the last 1/2 of a season. I've heard it put as "the knocks don't even have enough to make a bad offer".

The Hornets can always re-open the bidding next year if Paul wants his full Max.

New Orleans and Orlando seem to not even want to go through the circus that Denver did.

Then Fields and Douglas, whatever, again NBA history is littered with trades that seemed dumb at the time and are dumb later on, just cause a superstar wants out.

They'll take a circus over 1000 in attendance. Or just trade him to Houston for assets, Houston is said to be willing to gamble. Paul isn't the sandy ****** that Carmelo Is. He wants out be he will try and do it best Like a man

Normal human knees > Chris Paula knees

In shape person > Chris Paula double chin

Marc Stein: A growing number of execs starting to believe that Magic will indeed give strong consideration to doing Dwight deal before season starts

And here we ....go

That's debatable, but you'd hate to see CP3, Melo and Amar'e all in NYC. FWIW, Derron has told NJ he's not planning to sign an extension yet. So for you guys, it's really DHoward or bust.

They weren't selling out with Chris Paul. They ranked 26th in attendance. Trading CP3 won't effect their poor attendence that much. Especially if they hold him and just aren't winning. Unlike Denver, this isn't a playoff team.

Again, neither was anyone else I mentioned in the other trades. I could likely find a dozen more if I felt like it. Kwame Brown for Caron Butler. Kwame Brown+filler for Pau Gasol.

Deron would be forefitting $43M if he didn't opt-out.

Handing CP3 to the Knicks kills the value of a team up for sale. What does NOH get out if this donation?

Well you better go get kwame brown then.

I actually think both Howard and CP3 may get dealt before the season starts. But that doesn't favor the Nets. We know his list of priorities are

Lakers
Knicks

Everyone else

I think if LA didn't have the assets, he'd accept a deal to NJ, but Otis Smith being open to dealing him before the season starts, likely means he's not going to play hard ball with Dwight.

So even if a package of Bynum+ 2012 & 2014 picks isn't as enticing as Lopez plus 2 first round picks (1 of which is top 14 protected till 2016, which then becomes a 2nd rounder), Dwight is likely to get what he wants.

Again, your incorrect. He can sign for 5 years $100 million by resigning or 4 years $74 by resigning. That is a difference of $26 million. That number is even less because if he resigns with that same team, his first year salary, plus a 7.5% raise (after 3 years you get Bird rights), would be $20 million+, lowereing the lossed money by $6 million.

Who are they gonna trade for him? The Knicks don't have any trading pieces. Only way is for him to take a huge pay cut. Not sure he's gonna do that.

They might not trade for him. They might lose out completely and watch him walk in free agency.

Allowing him to walk does the same thing. NoH are in a no win situation. Trading him now and hoping for some lotter luck is the best course of action for that team. It's a tough pill to swallow, but you'll be further ahead landing a top pick in the lottery (no garuntee I know) than holding him finishing just outside the playoffs.
