Hardy is a 6'4" 275 pounds athlete, you can always walk away from a situation. Judge had no issue giving him 60 days , 18 month probation before then it was appealed. Saying we all react differently? Sure some guys choose to walk away instead of beating a woman and some men choose to beat a woman thus in my view the man is a scum bag.

I like about how you ignore the judges previous history so easily. A judge notorious for only believing the woman.

I also don't care who likes or dislikes Hardy.

He makes zero more plays based upon likeability.
If he turns out to be a bad guy over time he will suffer those consequences.
If he turns out to be a good guy over time he will also eventually see those just rewards.

But for the next year he has a job to do and that is what I care about.

Question to the homers and apologists...

If the evidence is so shaky, why did Carolina just walk away from the best defensive end rusher in the league? Why did 30 other teams not even get involved? Why is Dallas only willing to commit to one year? Why did his first-round talent drop to the sixth round in the draft? Why did Ole Miss coaches warn NFL coaches to stay away from him?

Just stop. I hope the guy works out, and I'm sure he'll add to the pass rush. But I won't check my integrity and logic at the door just because I'm a Cowboys fan.

To start with you do not know who was intersted and who was not; so don't try and spout like you do.
And it is not rare for coaches to bad mouth a player they do not like for personal or other reasons.
Dallas committing for one year is based on how the negotiations went and you know SQUAT about that. Odds were Dallas lowballed him on guaranteed money because they knew they could. He and his agent gambled on a one year show me contract which was the smart thing for him.
You don't like him or want him and that is fine. Just do not act like you know something everyone one else here does not.

Greg: You're a scumbag, just so you know. I'm glad this doesn't affect your performance.

Nobody called except Tampa. That's been confirmed. Nobody offered anything. He didn't sign a pay-as-you-play deal out of choice.

And I also wonder what a guy like Jason Witten thinks of this after growing up in a house of abuse and leading an organization against domestic violence.

I like the signing because I know how putrid the pass rush is. I'm glad he's here. But I'm not going to pretend that he's some sort of victim like the blind homers are doing in this thread. It's disgusting.

Come football season, I hope he shines and puts it behind him. In the meantime, he needs to stay off Twitter and be glad somebody gave him a chance.

And for the record, the hatchet job by Dale Hansen was equally disgusting. What he did to Garrett and his father is the definition of amateurish and hypocritical, especially for a drunk who has no relationship at all with his own son.

But we all need to stop trying to pretend this isn't what it is, a desperate reach for a pass rusher.

or she knew her name and past would suddenly be called out and that would likely have killed any attempt at money.

it was his legal right to ask for a jury trial. why people are upset about that tells me they honestly don't give a damn about facts, just hate hardy.

Why would anyone hate Hardy other than the fact that he was accused/conviced of beating his girlfriend? What other reason would there be?

And is the reverse true also, i.e., the only reason why you and others like Hardy is because he can sack a quarterback with regularity?

He's 26 years old.

26 is adult. He's also making millions to play a sport, on the heels of a domestic violence case, very much in the public eye. There's a time to shut up and grow up. It can be a good & necessary thing to 'care what people think' of you at times. I think that time would be now for someone is in his position.

That's easy. $$$ There are womens groups and other high horse types who will protest regardless of the facts. So the owners were afraid of losing endorsements, butts in the seats possibly. The Cowboys are not afraid of that as they are the richest professional sports team in the U.S.A. if not the world. Jerry's a smart man when it comes to the business side.

i don't know what happened. i don't know how badly, or even if, he hit her. but by the same light, i know even less about her and to simply draw up an ultimatum and hand it down like candy, doesn't much of any situation justice.

He's never had an incident in his life. Most male abusers have a history of abusive or violent behavior.

He's 26 years old.

Nobody is pretending she beat herself up. And I defended this story long before this season was ever over when he was still a Carolina Panther. I said it before -- any time you appeal a MISDEMEANOR A1 assault conviction to a higher court for a jury trial (particularly understanding that a "jury of your peers" threshold is about a 4th grade reading level), there's more to the story than the popular media spin would have you believe. I also posted before that I have a contact who is familiar with the situation. There just ain't any fire where the smoke is coming from on this one. Folks should move on.

except these days people who tell you what you don't want to hear are liars.

And, generally speaking, protests don't last very long. Look at the Michael Vick situation. Sure, there were protesters initially. But they die out over time.

Furthermore, other teams don't get the publicity the Cowboys do. So they would even have more of a reason to sign him. Yet, they didn't.

The red flags have been evident, and I don't think too many teams wanted to ignore them.

I didn't want the Cowboys to sign Hardy. But he's here. I don't necessarily have to celebrate him, though.

Very naive questions.

Explain how they are naïve? His thought processes are the same thought processes intelligent people engage in when they're trying to contemplate hiring a person. Considering a person's background and judgment is hardly naïve. So explain how it is naïve?

No matter the team that signed Hardy there was going to be outrage by previously mentioned groups. Your views are very naive. It's always about $$$.

And tell us about all these red flags?

Greg Hardy is not coming to Dallas for all of us to join a book club with. The Cowboys are in the winning business.

The off the field stuff is between Hardy, the NFL, and the Front Office of the Dallas Cowboys.

yes, i half always firmly beliefed in closing mein eyes to the . . . more unsightly aspects of human nature. I don't care what mom taught me, she was wrong: I CAN HANG WITH THE WRONG CROWD!!!

You might have considered checking your logic at the door, given its obvious flaws. Among other things, you haven't even realized that this doesn't approach being a question of integrity until you can definitively establish his guilt (even then, it's doubtful that "integrity" calls for interfering with his livelihood where the legal system has otherwise determined not to punish him).

But feel free to take more backhanded swipes. They're all you have, given that the arguments aren't on your side.

I know the judge found him guilty they appealed and were going to a jury trial, a civil case was already taking place and she got her money and left. I don't know every detail I do believe he beat that woman up and again in my book that is low of any man. Those who feel different fine I have no sympathy what so ever for the guy and just because he plays for Dallas does not make it ok.

I'm sorry. So there's not dollars in fielding a winning team? Why do you think the Cowboys are signing Hardy despite the fact that the team risks protests and criticism from outside groups?

Uh, because he represents a player who can help them win the Super Bowl and help the team make (say it with me ...) more money.

Besides, do you even know what the word "naïve" means?
Asking questions and presenting various possibilities, scenarios and alternatives are the antithesis of naïvete.

And tell us about all these red flags?

They were already told you. Besides, did you read the multiple accounts of his arrest and the circumstances around his case? Even if you believe the woman fabricated the story, his situation (guns laying around the house like so many dust mites) doesn't paint his judgment in a favorable light.
