I think it has as much to do with the fact that he was a rookie under Fisher as it does with McVay's system. Every QB needs the right OC.

Would Dak do the same thing as Drew Brees in New Orleans? That's basically the argument you're making here.
Woah never thought of it that way. Great point.

Do you watch the games? When was the last time you ever said "what were you doing Dak?", genuinely curious

Lol...how many times did you say that about Tony? You people act like he's suppose to be a polished qb after 2 1/2 seasons...lol

I play fantasy. I am a millennial. I'm also at one of if not THE most prestigious firm in the world working in investments.

Now that that is out of the way. Stop using wins as a qb Stat. Or use wins as stat for everyone. You ready to give Anthony Brown a top contract? He's played in the same amount of wins as Dak.
I knew you were a smart dude. Yo like if this was the real world and I had like a friend who needed to move some cash but didn't want anyone to know he had this cash you could like make that happen right

That's not true. Those threads didn't say "he doesn't have the arm talent.". They said "we should go back to the better quarterback, Tony Romo."

But the sentiment was the same. Don't pretend it's a Johnny come lately argument.

Actually if you ACTUALLY read the comment I replied to IT DID SAY Prescott didn't have arm talent. READ BEFORE COMMENTING.

This is a much bigger concern for me than the accuracy questions. Granted, the accuracy didn't look good at times earlier in the season, but most of the season it has been pretty solid. The bigger questions is making the right reads and making quick decisions. My perception is too often he either misses the right read or holds the ball too long expecting a better option or clearer look. That's not to say the O-Line has always given him as much time as he would want, but that even further emphasizes the need to make quick. accurate reads and decisions. If the read is there is nothing available, learn when to run and when to throw the ball away rather than take a sack. He had a little difficulty with that the 1st half against the Commanders, hence the 4 sacks, but seemed much more decisive the 2nd half. It seems to come and go with Dak.
He has missed so many big plays where Beasley had one on one coverage it’s not even funny. And the reason is that those type of routes require the ball to come out quickly and the ball to be put somewhere mid route move. Since Cooper joined the squad he’s had mostly 1 on 1 coverage and similar opportunities have been missed. The window to make those plays is very short and Dak hates to make those split second decisions. It’s one reason that he doesn’t turn it over much because there is a degree of risk to those throws if you make the wrong read.

That’s it right there. People seem to ebb and flow on Dak based on the throws he makes-whether on target or not on target. But it’s the throws he never sees and therefore doesn’t attempt because he doesn’t have the makeup to anticipate guys getting open that really hold him & this team back. He actually did it once with Cooper against WAS and it’s the only time I can ever remember him doing that where it wasn’t designed like say a fade near the goal line.
literally half of those "anticipation" throws were not anticipation at all..lol

I guess i have to go and cherry pick all of dak's anticipation throws. I will go pull the one that makes Goff's look amateur hour....just have to remember which game...i actually broke it down on this site, so i have an idea where to look.

The receivers dropped more balls brcause the running game was less efficient so the offense became more reliant on Prescott's arm - the receivers couldn't catch those passes unless they were Inspector Gadget!

Hey less than a brianiac a drop pass is when a player (receiver or running back) gets both hands on the ball but fail to catch it. Dropped passes has ZERO to do with whatever happens in the running game. Uncatchable balls do not count as dropped balls. I see you need some football 101. You see in football on offense there are only 2 options, running and passing. Putting the ball on receiver's hands and they don't catch it, is called a drop. During that pass, which wasn't a running play, the lack of yards that the running back didn't get because the ball was passed and not run doesn't count for why the ball was dropped.

Last season and again this season until the last game Prescott has had VERY little time to go through any reads. Proof, he's already been sack more times this season than he was all of 2016. He's had about enough time to check who the "hot" receiver was based on the presnap read of of the defense and where the coverage and/or blitz was coming from. Most of the time he has had only enough time to check a single receiver and then has to either take off or get sacked. Does Prescott have some things to improve on -you bet ya, but much of the problems he's had last season and this season has do do with the little time he's had because this is not the O-line of 2016, it's only 40% of that.

When is this 20 million dollar quarterback
Going to actually throw a ball to a spot before the receiver is actually even looking for it

just got in from a few hours of quail hunting. earlier it was sandhill cranes. gumbo cooking on the stove. return of history channel's the Vikings tonight. did someone mention dak? looks like he's been playing much better since the hc and oc have been coaching for their jobs. all it took was better play calling and speeding up the game. hope we beat the saints. the zone reading should be most interesting.:)

I said threads where it was Romo vs Dak. They weren't about arm talent conversations. They were about who was the better QB.

average time to throw for dak 3 seconds. average time for the league 2.6 seconds.... he has plenty of time. he chooses to hold on to the ball too long. its painful to watch at time.

So a player has to win a super bowl or retire before you say it's OK for him to date who he wants to. You're NOT the Cowboys dating police.
.
How did going Hollywood during his early and prime years work out for Romo and the Cowboys? The end result should have told you by now it was a terrible decision by Romo. He even said that if he could go back in time, he would have handled everything much differently.

My point was people are propping up Dak when I considered he had an average game. And in other games where he was bad people are still propping him up. Any time Zeke and the defense do work it's Dak getting propped up.

As for my original question I just assumed it's very very little even though I feel like it should be a lot, not constant, but a lot. That's what I was getting at but I didn't want to assume.

Why do people use wins as a qb stat. Doesn't make sense to me

I agree that wins is not the key variable in looking at QB's, but I think it has some place in the discussion. Going purely by stats isn't completely accurate either in that stats can be determined to a large degree by opportunity as much or more than ability (offensive scheme, coaching philosophy etc ...). The key is to look at things as a whole, and over time, considering all variables. If all variables are roughly equal between two QBs, I would go with the one that won more games. After all, the QB is the single most influential player in determining success or failure, and his value can't be measured solely in stats. I think most would agree that players like Aikman and Kelly would be undervalued if only going by stats. Theisman had stats comparable to Aikman, but was he really as good a QB?

But was he saying he regrets dating who he did, or just that he regrets not keeping it lower profile? I don't know, I'm just asking. I honestly thought, and still do, that the uproar over who he dated was overblown. 2 of the team's most successful season with Romo at QB came when he was dating Jessica Simpson, and his yardage totals and QB ratings were pretty much in line with the type if seasons he had throughout his career. His INT's dropped somewhat over the years, but does that have anything to do with Jessica Simpson, or is it just that he was a young, brand new starting QB and as he matured he got better reading defenses and making decisions?
