This might be the best way to look at it. We might be able to win with Dak but he's never going to be that guy that can overcome crap breaking down all around him like other top QBs can and have.

Mariota went 22-23 with a perfect passer rating. And yet the Titans were not competitive. This tweet does a good job of explaining why his stats did not match the eye test.



This reminds me of Dak against the Commanders. He was awful essentially the entire game. And yet due to two passes his passer rating was stellar. Eye test > Stats in this case.

As a reminder Dak is 23rd in the NFL in QBR. Top 5? Brees, Mahomes, Rivers, Goff and Wilson in that order.

For added Dak context Joe Flacco and Ryan Fitzpatrick have been better. Fitzpatrick has been benched twice and there is talk Joe has been Wally Pipped. Meanwhile we wouldn't trade Dak for 2 first rounders and are backing up the Brinks truck. Future is bright!

Right. It's not like if those two plays were incomplete that the drives mysteriously disappear.
The whole "take away the 2 passes" is beyond a stretch.

No one is saying take away the two plays. They helped us win. Those two plays do not mean Dak played well or has played well the past 3 weeks.

When over a 3 week stretch and 99 pass attempts when 2 passes account for almost 20% of your pass yardage it shouldn't take a genius to figure out they are outliers.

That's why you don't rely on someone's ratings. Trust what you see.

There isn't a person reading this that doesn't know Dak Prescott isn't a good starting QB. It's just that only some of us can admit it.

IMO he is just not a accurate passing QB and the schemes the boys are using do not play up to his talents. Having him stand in a pocket and shoot lasers to WR's is a recipe for a loss with his accuracy issues. He is salvageable with the right offensive scheme. Would I like a better arm on him, hell yes. You can win with Dak just not in the traditional passing offense. IMO he still needs lots of coaching on his throwing form and then maybe we can get to above average. May as well embrace him as we are probably stuck with him for the near future as the current alternatives are dreadful. A TE with Escobar's reputation not ability would do wonders for this team and the perception of Dak.

Yet if you look at Marriota's and Watson's Passing Charts, they look Similar. Yet, this same guy will say that Watson is amazing because he "passed the eye test". lol

You and Marriota's mother may be the only two people on Earth who thinks Watson and Mariota played remotely similar games.

Dak just isn't a consistently good passer. Watching Mariota and Watson last night they each made anticipatory throws, some well before the receiver made a cut or looked for the ball. Dak NEVER does that. Plus he is often inaccurate on even basic passes.

Thankfully he has other skills and intangibles that make him serviceable. But with our RB, OL and now defense a top notch passer would have us in the elite teams of the NFL.

Get mad, bring up Romo, whatever but it's simply a fact.

Don't understand the timing of this post. Didn't we win last week? I'm not in love with Dak either, but he made some nice throws, didn't turn the ball over, and got the "W". Can't we save the "Crap on Dak" threads for after a loss?

The timing came because of a national football league game I watched and a subsequent sports tweet I read.

I don't know about you but I don't turn off my football brain 30 minutes after the Cowboys finish up for the week.

Listen to yourself. One sentence you suggest "they helped us win" and the very next you claim "Those two plays did not mean Dak played well."

Except the game was in jeopardy because we couldn't create big plays until we finally did.

It's a big play league and Dak is not a big play guy.

We won because eventually Cooper made some big plays.

This group of people are using the strongest form of reverse psychology known to man. They are having a difficult time believing we actually "might" make the playoffs. Poor lil tink tinks.

As I've previously noted in our 3 game win streak those two passes accounted for almost 20% of Dak's total yardage while accounting for 2% of his pass attempts.

They are outliers and as such are treated as such.

Some people like being conveniently stupid and I don't understand it. We all know Dak avg has been inflated similar to Cooper recently. It's not mentioned to crap on them but to put the stats in perspective. If Cooper for example was truly avg around 180 a game you couldn't take away his highest game and the stats are way different. Same with Dak or any other player. I just don't get how people want to become obtuse all of a sudden like somebody ever said Dak or Cooper didn't make the plays at all. Taking them away shows you the more likely outcome over some outlier stuff that is not as likely.

Fans, for the most part and especially fantasy football players, are always enamored by stats. They just do not tell the whole story and never will. In Mariota case, he was also sacked some 8 times and not sure about the number of hits he took but more than a few. The game, any game, is about wins and losses. I do play fantasy football because I enjoy it but I want Dallas to win every game regards of the stats.

Frankly on Thursday night if Brees throws for 400 yards and 4 touchdowns but we win the game and Dak has only 167 yards and 2 TDs, that is just win and one I will take every time!

Here's the thing the Romo haters NEVER bring up about that trip to Cabo on the bye week of the playoffs. First, Phillips told the team to get a way for a couple of days. Second, Witten was with Romo but THAT'S NEVER MENTIONED. All they say is Romo was in Cabo.
