I don't see how you can put the Cowboys in the top 3.... Let's be realistic here.
Who is better?

I can't think of a team in the league more talented...maybe at certain positions, but not overall.

Well, I think the Eagles are very overrated. This is a team that was completely ready to fold in November last year. They simply got hot at the right time, and then McNabb choked again against Arizona.

I actually move the Vikes to the top. I still think we are underrated, but I wasn't thrilled with our first preseason game with the penalties and long runs against us.

1. Vikings
2. Cardinals
3. Giants
3a.Cowboys
5. Saints

Call me irresponsible, but I see the Vikings taking a step back with Brett "the Media Hound" Favre.

And Cowboys, realistically should be taking a backseat to the Giants and Philly.
Had Jimma coached this same bunch of Cowboys, they'd be instant Super Bowl contenders.

They won't step back, but they will have more turnovers. :laugh2:

It's tough for me to gauge at this point, but here goes

Giants (top 4 D, top 8 O)
Panthers(top 8 D, top 8 O) best team concept
Eagles (top 4 D, top 8 O)
Cardinals (top 8 D, top 4 O)

Commanders (top 4 D, average O)
Cowboys (top 8 D, top 8 O) possibly top 4 D in which case they would be the 5th team
Vikings (top 8 D, top 4 O) Favre distraction could hurt them or he could give them a good threat along with AP
Falcons

Saints
Niners
Packers
Seahawks
Bears
Rams
Bucs
Lions

I gave more wait to D than to Offense. I think you could legitimately put all 4 NFC E teams in the top 5 simply due to the defenses. The Vikings and Bears have to overcome their QB's prima dona complexes, and if they do, then maybe they will compete.

The surprise team may very well be the Seahawks, but they have to step back up to where they were a couple years ago.

With the recent news that Brett Favre will be signing with the Vikings I was interested in gauging how good you guys thought the Vikings would be this year. I guess the easiest way to do it is to list your top 5 NFC teams. I for one feel the Vikings immediately become superbowl contenders now that they have a decent QB. My list is as follows

1.Giants
2.Vikings
3.Cowboys
4. Arizona
5. Philly

To prevent people from just posting (which you can if you really want to obviously) their NFC top 5, I would also like to know how you guys feel Dallas matches up with the Vikings.

your list is awful, were better than the g-men look at the records

I agree about Minnesota. I just don't see how bringing this circus into town helps them. Maybe the first half of the season Favre is up to the task. But as he gets deeper into the season and forces throws he will cost them more important games.
Having said that, maybe they are trying a "2-season approach" for the first 8 games they rest AP, go lights out with Favre, hope he pulls out a game here or there, and then for the 2nd half they bring out Sage and let AP run them to glory. If that's their thinking, maybe it will work. Otherwise by November Favre will be costing them as many games as he won them.

Not sure why you guys are being so hard on our standings in the NFC. We are not #1 but I think we are close.

I have to say that, in my book, the Vikings are now the favorite to win the NFC this year.

They made the playoffs last season with Gus Ferotte and Tavaris Jackson. Now, teams won't be able to stack the box to stop Peterson.

Say what you want about Favre's INTs, but he had the Jets at 9-3 last season before he tore his biceps and the INTs started piling up.

The Vikes are a solid team, excellent offensive line, good receivers, AP, you can't run on the defense and they're not bad against the pass either.

Personally, I'm glad we don't play them during the regular season.

The Giants are not the best team in the division, let alone the NFC. Look at their winning percentage after losing Plaxico last year, and their scoring production. Timeline: Giants start the season 11-1, Nov 30: Plaxico shoots himself, Giants finish the season 1-3 with losses to the Eagles, Cowboys and Vikings and get bounced in their first playoff game. That's the team you put at the top?

Arizona has a banged up Kurt Warner. Philadelphia lost the two anchors on their offensive line for the past 10 years at tackle, both left and right, and then suffered major injuries there - 4 of their five starters are hurt.

Remember, this is 2009, not 2008. The NFL is a dynamic place, nothing stays constant year to year.

I love the Favre signing and believe it makes the Vikings an instant contender. Here is my list:

1. Vikings
2. Cowboys
3. Bears
4. Saints
5. Panthers

I'm not sure I wouldn't lower my rankings for the Vikings with the addition of Favre.

Don't see how you guys can't pick Arizona at #1 with the addition of some RB talent, I really like what they have become....you can't reach the Superbowl on a fluke!.......my list:

1. Arizona
2. Vikings
3. Cowboys/Eagles (you know damn well every year our two games together are like two completely different seasons.....pound for pound, us and Philly, are so close to rate one over the other)
4.) Giants
5.) Saints (Brees alone keeps this team in the top 10, much less the 5)

because we like defense. Same reason we have the saints so low, well most of us.

That's pretty much it.

The Cards are a good team, but I'm just not convinced that they're that good and that they rank near the top of the conference. Remember, this was a 9-7 team last year that, I think, benefited from a weak division and got hot at the right time. Can they do it again? I'm not so sure...
