Top 5 NFC teams:

1. NY Giants
2. Eagles
3. Cardinals
4. Panthers
5. Vikings

Cowboys will have to earn a spot in the top 5. I can't throw them in their due to that 1st preseason game. Sure the starters looked alright. But our depth is a concern and got beaten up pretty bad in Oakland.

Yeah I know it was the first preseason game, but it was sickening to see. I thought we'd at least perform a little better. If we get banged up during the season with a couple of key injuries, we might be looking at missing out again. Not even the new stadium will save us from that.

Best team in the NFC is the Falcons. Rememeber they added Tony Gonzelez to their team. Their offense is going to be as balanced as you can get. Second would be the Vikings in my opinion, then Philly and then us. My non bias opinion. The Cards take a step back this year.

:lmao:

The Falcons defense is going to be absolutely horrendous. They might score 380-400 pts offensively, but they will probably give up at least that many too.

They snuck up on alot of people last yr because most expected them to be by far the worst team in football. They wont be sneaking up on anyone this yr.

My top 5:
#1.) Dallas - Call me a homer, but Dallas doesn't have any more question marks than any other team in the league. Does this team need to learn how to win in December, absolutely. But, you compare teams position by position no team can compete with the starting talent on the Cowboys team. Could injuries to the wrong position kill us this year, absolutely. But you can say that about ANY team in the NFL.

#2.) Minnesota - With Farve I will put them at #2, they should be scary good, and AP will be a fantasy football monster. But, they have to prove that they can win in the playoffs as well, their last playoff win was in 2004 when Culpepper was their QB.

#3.) Philadelphia - I am not convinced that the loss of Jim Johnson (RIP) will not affect their D at all. He was IMHO one of the finest defensive minds the game has ever seen. Also, I am not convinced that McNabb can stay healthy all year again this year. Not to mention losing Stewart Bradley for the year, and we know full well how back injuries NEVER seem to fully heal well enough for football and Shawn Andrews back is bothering him. They could be a great team, but to many question marks for me to put them in the TOP 2.

#4.) Carolina - Losing Kemoeatu hurts no doubt. But this is till a team that went 12-4 last year and is returning 20 of 22 starters. They have a solid QB in Delhomme at QB, and having Stewart and Williams at RB with a very good OL, and Steve Smith at WR. Along with a solid D even without Kemoeatu.

#5.) Arizona - I know that they are the defending Super Bowl Champs, but their D is full of holes, and in the end, offense sells tickets, but defense wins championships. Lets not forget that they were a 9-7 team till they got hot in the playoffs. They will still no doubt be good, but not sure that they will be great.

Leftoff:
Giants - They were 1-3 and looked even worse than that without Plaxico Burress at WR last year, and this year they will not only be without Burress, but also they will be without Toomer as well. Not to mention their main big play back, Derrick Ward is now in Tampa Bay. I am not convinced that Bradshaw can put up the numbers that Ward did in relief of Jacobs. No doubt, the Giants D will be one of the best in football. I just am not convinced that their O will be anything other than decent at best.

Sorry Favre is washed up and his big plays he use to make all the time or fewer and far between so they no longer make up for his turnovers

I mean the guy has thrown a minimum of 13 picks a year since 1992; he also has averaged right around 10 fumbles a year or darn close

last year Favre started off Hot and faded badly down the stretch he is coming off surgery and his age I expect him to fade again down the stretch

He had 22 td's to 22int and 10 fumbles

the Jets where 8-3 and then tanked Favre

Last December he dropped to 56.8% 764yds 5.8ypa 2td's 8 int's

For the year he was 65% 6.7ypa 3,472yds 22TD 22INT

So the two head monster of Freorte and Jackson

59.1% 21tds 17int 3213 7.1ypa 9 fumbles

Kind of funny they now added a Gambling QB who is aged and not disciplined that had about the same stats as last year starters yes I know who the QB is he is not that Bret Favre any more the Vikings are about the same as last year in a lot of ways I say they are worse off than last year because Favre will force passes he should not attempt because he can not help his self

Dallas can't be considered a legitimate contender until they learn how to dominate in December and January.

Dallas has done so well on thanksgiving the last several years, then go right into the tank.

So this question never gets answered until at least the ball drops in Times Square.

An NFC top 5 is tough to do, for me anyway. I really don't see 5 teams that, as of now, look better than the others.

Teams I would definately leave out of this list are: Bears, Lions, Rams, 49ers, Seahawks, Bucs, Skins.

That leaves the Cards, Falcons, Panthers, Cowboys, Packers, Vikings, Saints, Giants, and Eagles.

I could probably cut the Packers from this list and maybe even the Saints and Cards (their defenses concern me), but after that, I think it's all pretty close between the remaining 6 teams.

How can you cut the Cards from that list? They DID get to the SuperBowl last year right?

?? I think as others have indicated with their incredulity, the 2007 Cowboys proved nothing... which matches the feat of years both prior and subsequent. This team hasn't done anything to deserve the benefit of the doubt...
What does this mean, then?

This team has proved NOTHING. Until they do, we have no business putting them above teams that managed to get to the playoffs last year.
What do teams have to do to prove something? Do playoff teams that don't win the SB prove anything? If not, then the Cowboys are just like every other non-SB winning team last year in which case I find nothing wrong with ranking them above the likes of the Vikings if one is so inclined. If so, then the 2007 Cowboys did prove something.

I'm just wondering what your standard is here is all.

I don;t know about ranking them, but the division winners this year will be

NFC EAst-Giants-11-5
NFC North_Packers11-5
NFC South-Saints-12-4
NFC West-Cardinals-10-6

Wild Card-Dallas 10-6 and Atlanta 10-6.

What do those six teams have in common. The best Qbs in the conference.

Bottom four teams in the NFC will be

1-Tampa Bay-wins 2 games
2-Detroit-wins 3 games
3-San Francisco-wins 4 games
4-Seattle-wins 4 games

Common denominator-new regimes and new Qbs except for Seattle who probably will have one as soon as Hass goes down.

I don't see how you can put the Cowboys in the top 3.... Let's be realistic here.

Only if we commit to running the football, our o line plays like they are capable, and our secondary is great.

The CArds will win their division by default. They could win it by going 7 and 9. San Fran, Seattle, and St Louis will be in the with the dregs of the league.

I like The vikings too but favre is a INT machine...Wouldnt surprise me if they finished 8-8 or 9-7 tops. But I will give them the benefit of the doubt.

Also How can anyone put the eagles over the Giants?...Giants have the best defense in the NFC and a slid Oline with a real good running game.

the team that plays the best. ;)

seriously, the Packers are going to a 3-4 with Capers. No more antiquated Jim Bates defense with no rush and no idea how to run a blitz and a defensive scheme that had two plays. Packers will have a few growing pains but their defense has to be better than the last two years. Packers should have made the change two years ago but at least they learned. And TO won't be around to abuse Al Harris this year. Ask Roy Williams what corner he has the most trouble with.

yeah I hated your defense. one of the biggest reasons you guys lost to the G-men in 2007(sorry for bringing it up) was because your dc or mainly your stubborn HC refused to give Al help on Burress and double him. Al is a very good corner and gives lots of wrs fits. But Roy isn't on a crappy Lions team anymore and has a qb now;) . we'll see what happens and i'm sure both Al and Roy will get their's. I'm a fan of Al though cause he gets more physical than just about any other corners in the league.
