I literally laste week switched from Time Warner to Directv, and I am so Happy. My bill is cheaper, I have more channels, and I had a blast telling the Customer Service rep from Time Warner that the reason I changed to Directv was I had been waiting a year for them to get NFL Network, an d they woudnt get it. Plus I have HD, and the only channel i lost that I even miss a little is that Time Warner had a NBC HD channel here so I could watch Sunday Night games in HD as well as Friday Night Lights ( Where I am at, neither Direct TV or Time Warner have HD channels for FOX, NBC, ABC or CBS)

And on top of that, I got the NFL Ticket for the remainder of the season free. Speaking of that what does the Sunday Ticket regulaly cost so that I know what I will pay next year.

Oh and if I read your post right rexrobinson, you have been paying your cable company, not NFL Network for your service. Your Cable company is the one that is not paying NFL Network. I have a feeling that in the near future this will be resolved, and it will be the cable companies giving in, not the NFL Network.

Eventually, some of the smaller cable providers will give in because they will be losing customers to Directv and others that do provide it, and eventually Time Warner will do the same when they are the only one that dosent have it.

Not very likely, you guys think everyone in the world wants the NFL network..we are the vocal minority. If the demand for the NFL network was so huge the cable companies would of folded on this subject and they have not. The NFL is popular but you guys are being foolish to think everyone in America is wanting to pay for it.

Time Warner wants the NFL network on their service, however they want it on a Sports Tier and the NFL network wants it on basic cable. This is the only beef between the NFL channel and the cable companies.

My Beef is that the NFL channel advertised that having their channel will enable the games you could not see without the channel. This turns out to not be true.

How can you expect a cable company to eat an 800% rate hike for their customers just because a Network says to? This week it is 800% next week it will be 1600%.

The cable company had no knowledge or part in the NFL channel demanding a rate hike the very week they were supposed to provide coverage.

To you guys who ask "who am I paying" I pay the cable company who in turns pays the NFL network. This is really simple.

What are you guys going to say if the NFL network demands an 800% rate hike from Dish Network and Dish Network decides that is too expensive to eat for the customers and does not show the games.

I bet you will feel exactly the same.

Dont tell me it can't happen, or that contracts prevent this...because it has happened while under contract.

Another convert!!!! You make the changes through telling your provider to shove it if they're not satisfactory. That's the way it's done. The Ticket is like 250 for the year - and they'll break it up however you want. Call and ***** at the start of the year, and they'll give you superfan, movies, and all sorts of crap free.

Then everyone switches to DirecTV. And if the same thing happens there, the NFL Network will die.

My girlfriend watches lifetime everyday...just because you and I dont like it does not mean nobody does. My grandfather adores CSPAN...I know, I know but he is old and loves politics.

The cable companies are not idiots, they do research they know what is going to make money and what isn't. They are not going to show expensive channels that nobody wants.

I have the NFL network and absolutely love it. Their off season coverage of the combine alone had me glued to the TV until midnight and beyond. I don't care for most of their 'on air' personalities but I don't like the anti-Cowboy guys on Sportscenter either. I also love seeing all the preseason games and NFL replay is priceless. The cheerleader crap is a waste of electricity but I have to get a life every now and then don't I? :D

You take away Lifetime away from my wife and I have to hide all the sharp objects around the house.

The cable company is not screwing me the NFL network is. They changed the terms of their contract and are no longer providing what I paid them to provide. This is where I am getting screwed.

The NFL hasnt changed the terms of their service. They offer each cable company a choice. You can get NFL Network for a certain price as a standalone, OR you can get NFL Network WITH the NFL games for a higher price. Your cable company took the cheap option, and after fielding complaints is trying to pass the buck to the NFL.

The only thing that changed in between now and then is they demanded an unexpected 800% rate hike from my cable company to broadcast the games.

They gave no warning and they did this on the week they started to show the games they had already promised me and my cable company that we would have just by subscribing to their service. They changed the contract.

.

you realize your cable company is lying to you right?

So what you are saying is the Cable companies are trying to get me to buy a bunch of channells on their sports tier that I dont want just to get one channel?

Time warner is trying to make money by selling a craptastic sports tier that blacks most games out knowing the NFL network is in demand

This is not true at all. They had 1 package. The NFL Network has advertised this for the past year. You only need to subscribe to get the games.

They changed this on the very week they were supposed to provide all NFL Network providers the first game.

I really don't care what goes on between the network and the cable providers but the victims are the subscribers and fans who were told by the NFL network they would see these games if they subscribed. I can't blame the cable company for not wanting to eat an 800% unexpected charge just to show 8 games. They will lose more customers than make happy when they pass that bill down to the subscribers.

The NFL network lied and are flat out using the fanbase to put a squeeze on the providers all the while screwing the fanbase out of games they want to watch. It is classic supply/demand however they pulled the supply from under a lot of subscribers at the last minute.

You can keep saying they changed it this week but you will be wrong everytime you say it.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed via e-mail on Friday that an extra charge applies. "Yes, fees were adjusted to reflect the value of NFL Network with NFL games, which are the highest-rated programming on television," Aiello said. "Cable operators that carried NFL Network prior to NFL Network acquiring the rights to the games had two choices: [(1)] Carry NFL Network with the game package on terms that 170 cable providers throughout the country have accepted as fair, reasonable, and a good value[; or (2)] Let customers know of their choice in time for them to do something about it. A handful of cable operators apparently chose to do neither."

What I am saying is that a bunch of people do not want to pay extra for the NFL network if it was put on the basic tier in fact the majority don't want to pay for it or see a rise in their bill soley due to that channel.

If they put this on the basic tier you would see a noticable hike in your cable bill thus why so many people are going to the Dish and I support that. I am pissed at the NFL network for changing policy right before they were supposed to deliever thier content I already paid for.

Please don't make me defend cable companies however I am defending basic principles in economics.

You dont anger the whole for the few.

The cable companies are not going to make the entire customer base pay for a channel that is not wanted by the majority. They are saying just like HBO, If YOU want this channel go buy it on the sports tier.

Belive it or not, just because we want football and the NFL network, the majority do not want to pay for it. I can't belive how many people do not understand this.

Cable bills will not increase alot soley because of one chanel, dont let the cable company scare tactic scare you.

As for paying for channels on the basic teir that i dont want, there are ALOT of channels I have to pay for that I dont want

The cable company was supposed to inform you, they chose not to. They wanted your NFL network money. They didnt care if you got the games.
