You can keep saying they changed it this week but you will be wrong everytime you say it.

except the NFL network did not advertise this...this is where the policy was wrong. I called my cable company and they said they were informed of this change last week.

The NFL network never lets its subscribers know that they may not get the games...their entire selling point was IF you get the NFL network you get the extra games...there wasn't even fine print.

They are admitting it in that quote that you have no link to that they "Policy changed to reflect the value of their games" .

These guys promised us games and are not providing the content now.

Its is not NFL networks responsibility to advertise for each individual cable company they do business with. Their job is to sell the channel. Warnings and ads saying there was no NFL games on the channel was the responsibility of the cable providers.

The NFL Network does not sell their channels to subscribers. They sell it to cable companies. The cable company themselves are the subscribers and they were well aware in advance what was going on with the channel. It was the cable company that failed to notify THEIR subscribers

Yes the quote said they changed the price to reflect value of the games, this was done months ago when the games were scheduled.

It's not the cable companies. It's the NFL. Screw you, NFL.

Yea right Im sure the cable companies want to offer it as a pay-per-view event out of their loyalty to all their customers. Translation we have local viewers by their nads and we want to charge them $30 a game to watch their team play. They are all just fighting over our $$, I say F them all.

It's not the cable company that's wanting to show it as pay-per-view.

Yes they are here is a quote from Grande communications.

"For our customers’ benefit, we prefer NFL Networks offer us a way to broadcast the eight football games on a pay-per-view or Sports Tier basis, so that those who want to see them can have the opportunity to purchase them, while those who do not want to watch 8 more NFL games this year do not have to pay extra. Well, it's not exactly a "pay-per-view" channel. They want it to be a part of the expanded digital package. They're not saying they want you to pay for every single viewing like boxing matches.

Dude it says on a PAY-PER-VIEW basis OR sports package what part of that dont you understand? Pay-Pay-View means pay to view a particular show or event.

The big struggle between the cable companies and the NFL has been about whether the NFL Channel will be placed on the basic cable service or an extended tier of the digital service. No one, that I'm aware of, is attempting to put the NFL games on pay-per-view service.

Then why would they list that as an option on their website in a letter regarding their handling of the NFL network? I guarentee you cable companies would love to charge per game for the NFL network's broadcasts.

I doubt it. They wouldn't get half the revenue they get from offering it on a normal channel.

I believe the NFL has been working toward pay-per-screw since they started the NFL network. They know what buttons to press with all these cable companies to force pay-per-screw on them and the can save face at the same time by making the cable comp. look like the bad guy.

One of these days we'll be paying to watch most of our games on TV, probably after all these contracts with FOX, CBS, and ESPN are up with in the next 5 or 6 years. We might get to see the sucky teams for free, they will throw that nugget at us. Superbowl, playoffs, and big regular season games will be pay-per-screw.

I hope I'm wrong but when putting games on NFL network started I had a feeling PPV would happen sometime, and I fear the worst, the NFL will be like boxing.:bang2:

To reiterate, this is why the NFL will NEVER put Sunday Ticket on cable. Why negotiate with hundreds of cable providers when you can negotiate with one satellite company?

More customers ---> higher revenues ---> higher profits?

I lived in San Antonio for three years and it was the home market for the Cowboys. Can't imagine you wouldn't see every Cowboy game available even if they are on NFL Network. But then, they didn't have the NFL network back in those days. :)

It is pretty simple. The NFL channel is charging the cable companies ESPN type rates. The demand for the channel is not high enough to spread that charge over the whole customer base. The NFL is trying to create that demand. The cable companies know if they force the NFL network on the entire customer base they will lose more people over it than keep by moving it to the basic tier.

They offered the NFL network a Pay Per View type format instead, the NFL channel rejected it. It is everyone or no one in their tactic.

It is extremely simple, they have stated this over and over however people who want the channel will not listen to their buisness instincts.

I don't disagree with you at all about what is better however the point of this thread I started was to show how the NFL network has completly lied to their customers and using very bad buisness practices.

The NFL network told me they are showing the games, I subscribed, they are going to keep taking my money but not provide me the promised coverage. This is what I am upset about. They could of done this next year and I would be fine. I would just cancel my subscription and find another way however this happened the week they started their games.

Without warning they completly screwed the customers the promised coverage of the games and took our money anyhow.

I hear what you are saying and agree with you. My cable company (Cablevision) doesn't carry the NFL channel, but I have DirectTV's Sunday ticket (I only have Sunday ticket, not the DirectTV package), so I get the NFL channel there.

Sounds like you paid more for a sports tier package to get the NFL channel ? Now at the last minute NFL changed the rules and you won't get it ? That would bite compared to just getting it on a "normal" package and have it taken away.

Maybe you could take legal action ? I with you bro and feel your pain...Sounds like the problem is one that could grow, the NFL channel has a monopoly on these games, now that they have started the raise their rates 800% ??? Lets all hope that this isn't a sign of the future. As years go by and they get more games, then raise their rates accordingly.

I could see the Superbowl becomming a pay per veiw event in the future on their channel, $50-$100 bucks maybe ? Rex, this could just become the beginning...

I have had the NFL channel for 4 months now just so I would not miss a single Cowboys game. I live in San Antonio so I may not be considered local coverage for the ATL game.

The NFL channel is not going to show the games in my area at all...here is the link.

NFL replay is awesome, the fact they have games is great, they have the senior bowl, the live press conference show, the live preseason game whip arounds, the new 40 part Super Bowl documentaries, NFL Films Presents, the Texas Bowl, the Insight Bowl, Total Access, the college FB show on Saturdays, the list goes ON AND ON.

The other dude makes it seem like its all cheerleader stuff, when nothing could be further from the truth. The NFL network has some great programming. Whoever says it is trash is just pissed off they cant get it.
Yea, what he said.
